Extra Curricular Information

Few years out of school with a bunch of experience. Chiashu numbers under Choice. Scholarship money is cumulative.

11/9 Phone call from Minnesota - shock and freaking awe
11/16 It's official. Large white envelope from MN.
11/21 Pittsburgh letter
12/07 Washington & Lee email
12/10 Illinois letter
12/14 Shazaam! Deferred at Mich.
12/17 Kent email
12/26 Received so very much snail mail back from the holidays -- BC rejection (expected, the way LSN was going), Kent letter scholarship, Colorado acceptance and offer by mail, dated 12/19. Colorado offer is 1L full ride, 2L and 3L half. Pretty blown away.
1/12/08 Wisconsin letter, dated 1/7
1/14/08 Starting to withdraw as we narrow down the list.
1/25/08 UC-Hastings ding. Gotta say I didn't see that one coming. Oh well. That should make our decision much easier.
1/30/08 Unhid NU. Mostly lottery tickets left, I think this signals the end of my cycle.
2/8/08 Decision at Michigan. Finally. Really looking forward to the end.
2/11/08 And it ends. Mich wishes me much luck. We're going to the ASW for my sentimental choice, but I would bet $100 that I know where we'll be in 6 months. I'm so thankful to be at the end. Yay!
2/22/08 Oregon by mail.
3/4/08 Withdrew from Minnesota today. Am ridiculously sad.
3/5/08 We have a winner! Go Rocky Mountains, go.
4/24/08 Email today asking if I want remain on BU's waitlist - first I've heard of a decision. Glad I wasn't waiting on that one.

Do you have a lot of work experience? My numbers are similar and I have been out of school for a while. Looking at past years, I was kind of expecting the 3.3/mid-160s to wait until after Xmas before getting accepted. Do you mind sharing how old you are?

That's awesome that you were already accepted to Minn. You'll have plenty of choices, I'm guessing.

I think it's cause they had to flip it up to Canada which took them a little longer :(. That said, I'm happy. Did you get any $ from Minn?

im eager to use my new Kitchen aid mixer every chance i get. ;) truth be told, I thought i would get WL at Mich and also 166 was my lowest diag too. sometimes you just have to walk away. iono, thats jjust my opinion after taking it many times.

It's looking more and more like deferrals for us buddy :(. Sad but true.

  • Deferral
  • Thursday, December 13 2007 at 10:24 AM

Yeah, I figured I would be proactive :P. I don't know, it hurts to be likely dinged at GULC and deferred at UMich, in the same weak. I'm not holding out much hope. The sad thing is - I thought I had a shot @ Mich =/.

that we can be friends! I love DeWitt's book. I think part of the problem is that people tend to conflate it with the mediocre Tom Cruise vehicle of the same name. *sigh*. DeWitt has an okay blog that I sometimes read, but I don't think she'll ever publish again. Anyway, good luck with your cycle!

So your secrets are out now! Doesn't it feel good to come clean? Seriously though, you're gonna do great no matter where you end up. And don't discount Michigan yet...

Its tough. From a personal perspective, I obviously hope that its one thing, but from a human being perspective, I hope its another. Best of luck. It's a competitive process, but I do hope somehow we both get in.
