Additional info & updates

FYI, username is a reference to "Super Sad True Love Story" by Gary Shteyngart, not some attempt to be crude or provocative.

Held at Columbia after e-mailing them in regards to not being complete for about, say, two months. Quickly made note to self: sometimes it's best not to ask.

If you're curious about my URM status or extracurricular info (I'm really not as douchey as it sounds) feel free to PM me.

Thanks for the kind words regarding my acceptances. I haven't received any scholarship information as of yet though. I see we are applying to quite a few of the same schools, good luck in your cycle and maybe we'll end up as classmates somewhere. :)

I have been sitting on "review complete, final decision pending" for awhile now. I think they are possibly waiting for my Dec. score. If I don't get a decision and I feel I did better tomorrow, I might ask them to hold for my new LSAT score anyway. Should know soon. Thanks for the well wishes and best of luck to you this cycle aw well!!!

W&M Status Checker
Tuesday, October 05 2010 at 08:00 PM

early on the checker revealed up to date information. However, after about a month at initial review complete and review complete it went blank. A few weeks later I checked the status checker at it read admitted. The written acceptance arrived 3 mailing days later.

LSAC Fee Waiver
Thursday, August 05 2010 at 08:00 PM

Some of the schools supplied me with fee waivers, but I was granted an LSAC fee waiver for being a poor graduate student. Therefore the merit based fee waivers were redundant. I think you're probably knocking on every door that you need to be. Good luck with your cycle.

Re: Indiana Scholarship
Monday, March 08 2010 at 07:00 PM

The scholarship letter I received stated full non-resident tuition for the first-year and renewable each year thereafter if I maintained satisfactory academic progress. I saw that the current non-resident tuition amount was $43,000, so that's how I came up with the $130K. I wanted to also say congrats on being accepted to Georgetown. Would you actually forgo a T14 and DC to move to Bloomington?

Berkeley
Monday, March 08 2010 at 07:00 PM

First, congratulations on Berkeley, I hope I'm fortunate enough to hear the same news from them in the future. Second, to answer your question about IU, I'm pretty confident that I would choose Georgetown (or Vandy/Texas) over IU, despite the full scholarship. As you stated, going to law school for free has its obvious benefits, however, I'm not sure about spending three years of my life in Bloomington with other options at hand. DC, Austin, and Nashville all are definitely more appealing for me.

IUB

I just decided to apply today. I saw that they gave a few people with similar numbers admittance and some scholarship money, so I figured why not me? Good luck!!

Congrats

Sorry I was in Puerto Rico for the past couple of weeks. That "rant" was just about how you try to follow peoples cycles but all the info is phony. It was just more of an observation. Anyway congrats on Berkeley hopefully I'll see you there for ASW.

Same To You
Monday, March 08 2010 at 07:00 PM

I appreciate your continued encouragement and wanted to say thanks for your posts. I definitely have come a long way from my humble beginnings, so I'm definitely feeling very blessed to have some amazing schools to choose from. I see that you have had much success this cycle yourself, congratulations. Which school is your leader at this point and are you planning to attend any NYU ASWs?

Friday, December 24 2010 at 07:00 PM

Cycle looking good. You leaning any particular way? I'm still waiting on Michigan and NYU. Maybe you can put in a good word. ttyl.

IUB
Tuesday, May 04 2010 at 08:00 PM

At this point the only schools that could pull me away from IUB would be GW (if they miraculously coughed up some cash), Cornell, GULC, or Columbia. IUB is looking like the move right now.

I'm glad you're having such a great cycle! Though I have no clue as to who Gary Shteyngart or "Super Sad True Love Story" are. ...Guess I'll have to look it up.

Thursday, January 20 2011 at 07:00 PM

Congrats on your great cycle so far. I wouldn't worry too much about Columbia; you have so many amazing options with money. I bet you'll get in off the waitlist too if it really is your first choice. Good luck! Can't wait to see where you end up (I'm a Columbia undergrad, so feel free to message me if you have any questions about campus or whatever). :)

Thanks! You're killing it yourself!

USA
Thursday, January 20 2011 at 07:00 PM

Hmm, I'm not entirely positive about my top choice but I want to say it is Michigan or Columbia, although my chances are negligible for both, lol. I'm also very interested in UCLA, BC, and William and Mary.

Friday, December 24 2010 at 07:00 PM

so you coming to ASW for Berkeley? Even with the Harvard acceptance I still want to check it out. The schools is everything I want in a law school but it's just so hard to turn down Harvard :(.

Friday, December 24 2010 at 07:00 PM

No fair how will I know you???? :P

Why, hello there! Fear not, I have withdrawn from MOST of the schools on this list. Let's not forget that the e-world does not always reflect reality. Good luck to you, and thanks for all of the congrats!
