Close scores, how fast did you hear from Mercer?

Nice cycle so far

Have you considered any FL schools?

How much time between waitlist and acceptance?

Samford

Countrylawyer, way to go getting in at Samford... glad to see they are using the waitlist!

UGA

I just have to say congrats on UGA! I was recently placed on the waitlist as well, and, like you, I didn't think it would happen. Hopefully, we'll both get off before it isn't too late.

Wow. I am not a 5th generation Georgian, but I have spent my entire life in Athens, except for the past year and a half after I graduated. I'm not sure what I am going to do if I'm not accepted to GSU, but if I continue down the law school path, retaking the LSAT is definately in order.

Samford or Mercer

Huh weird I got waitlisted at Ole Miss and had a lower GPA. Got flat out rejected at South Carolina too. Congrats on getting into Samford and Mercer. If you dont get off the waitlist at LSU or into GSU, you should go to one of the two. I didn't apply to Mercer, only Samford and thats where I'm headed off for the fall. What are some differences between the schools? Samford places pretty regionally I think and you can get good jobs out of state up in Tennessee or as far as Florida if you want to too. For me it was a choice with having some of the outdoors and mountain stuff that I like too there in Birmingham. Also has a strong trial law program, which although I don't intend to pursue, those are very valuable schools. The sticker tag is less, yeah Mercer is a lot of money. Good luck man.

GSU/Mercer

I saw your comment on Laerwin's page. I will be at Mercer too if I don't get into GSU, and I'm also concerned about the tuition. Good luck to you with GSU. It's definitely hard to stay hopeful so late in the game but I'm doing my best.

I spent my freshman year at UGA but graduated from Miami University of Ohio. UGA was my first choice, but I knew it was a super reach with my numbers. GSU is now my first choice. I've lived in Atlanta most of my life, and my husband's job is north of the city. GSU's cost and location make it ideal, but I'll definitely be at Mercer if this doesn't work out.

is very expensive, but I was able to work out the cost in a way that I can live with. I am also concerned about the debt load, but I know that there will be opportunities later to reduce that cost. 2L and 3L scholarships are available from the school if you do well. Mercer has a great legal writing program and very strong alumni support. Both of these factors will help in securing post graduate employment.

My status never changed but my letter came today. Looks like I'll be at Mercer. I agree. I am upset about GSU, but more so because of how they operated here at the end.

GSU...

absolutely rediculous. I called yesterday and was told a decision had been made and that it was an "unfavorable one". The decision was made on friday, mailed monday (supposedly) and I have yet to get the official rejection letter in the mail. To tell you the truth, they have been so completely UNPROFESSIONAL, I was getting a little worried about going there even if i was accepted. This whole process has been absolutely ridiculous and I can't believe I waited around so long for this!!!!! Call and talk to the director of admissions...she's a huge you-know-what...but she will break the rules and tell you if youre in or not--wow, GSU, great school. ha

ridiculous* sorry..

More school...

Yeah, I'm totally out-of-my-mind, right?! ha, ha! No, actually I've been teaching college writing and literature courses for the last five years, but I need a change. The academic job market is tough (like all job markets I guess)! I want to get my J.D. so that I can eventually transition back into academia and teach both English and Law courses. But, in the end, I'm pretty much insane.

GSU

Yeah, the status just changed to waitlisted last night. So i guess its more waiting more me. I went to Georgia Tech for undergrad, which is partially why i didnt apply to UGA haha. I think that Mercer would be a great school if I ended up there, but the obvious downsides are the big cost and having to leave atlanta.

Sorry to see your decision from GSU. Will you be at Mercer for sure? Feel free to e-mail me. I'll be going to Mercer and want to know as many people as possible come August. :)

Mercer?

Sorry about GSU also, but I hope you plan on Mercer this fall. It is expensive, but you get what you pay for!
