FINAL RECORD: 10-5

ACCEPTANCES:

Brooklyn - e-mail, letter to follow

Cardozo - phone call, letter to follow, $20,000/yr scholarship, upped to $30,000/yr following my withdrawal, I withdrew my app once again despite the extra money

Fordham - e-mail, letter to follow, no $

George Mason - phone call, letter to follow, $10,000/yr scholarship

Indiana - US priority mail, received $8,500/yr scholarship

Iowa - e-mail, letter to follow, no mention of fin. aid or scholarship $

Richmond - phone call, letter to follow, scholarship/financial aid information will follow in mid-feb.

Temple - snail mail to school address, white business-sized envelope postmarked 12/6/05, $12,000/yr scholarship (notified 1/5/06)

William & Mary - priority mail to school address, big white USPS envelope postmarked 12/8/05, received Graduate Fellowship (out-of-state tuition waiver and $4000 stipend)

Washington & Lee - business-sized envelope, received $12,000/yr scholarship (renewable if 3.0 GPA is maintained)

DEFERRALS/WAITLISTS:

Cornell - received business-sized envelope postmarked 12/16/05 notifying me of the deferral, received business-sized envelope postmarked 4/6/06 notifying me that I am on the waitlist, received business-sized envelope postmarked 7/5/06 notifying me that I am on the summer waitlist . . . sick of waiting and think I'd like W&L more anyway, withdrew

Notre Dame - strange e-mail on 2/14 responding to a phone call message I left; it stated that I should have received a letter saying I was on the "provisional list" and that I will not receive a decision until at the earliest late May. I'm not waiting on ND, when W&M is just as good and gave me $.

UVA - status changed to "decision" on 12/8, received business-sized envelope on 12/13 informing me that my application was deferred to the regular applicant pool, e-mail on 3/23 notifying me that I am on the general non-resident waitlist (sounds like a pseudo-rejection), received business-sized envelope on 7/24 informing me that they would be unable to offer me admission

REJECTIONS:

Georgetown: business-sized envelope postmarked 12/13/05

Harvard: business-sized envelope postmarked 1/9/06

I'm not too interested in going to the west coast, and I don't think I'd be very happy at Boalt.

i got my letter yesterday, but there was no mention of money...when do you think we'll find out? (or did i just find out through lack of offer?)

Please advise

First of all, congrats on all the acceptances so far. I am in desperate need of advice: I have been deffered at Fordham and NYU, and have recently been offered an unbelievable position at my current place of employment. I don't know if calling Fordham and NYU and advising them of my situation, therefore, asking to make a decision asap would be a good idea. I would greately appreciate any advice you can give, or anyone visiting your profile can give. Thank you so much. -lovethelaw

Thank you so much for your prompt and thoughtful advice. I will wait for another week or so and will then call the schools. It is good to hear from someone else who goes through a daunting process of applying to law schools. lovethelaw

...for the input. It seems that I do have a choice to make. I have been holding off until I receive word on scholarship $$$. You on the other had are going to have a harder decision than I! You have been accepted to some outstanding schools! Congratulations!

The visit did not go bad, everyone said all the right things....It just didn't "feel" right. Like you, economically it would be a perfect fit with in-state tuition.

Did Cardozo mention the 20K on the phone or in the mail?

Hey bud, How is your decision coming along. W&M and WLee are both great schools and were at the top of my list. Which way are you leaning?

Great School, Small classes. Overall it seems like a great atmosphere. I'm sure you'll love it. Check out "The Law School Breakthrough." If you haven't already. It's a law school "how-to" book written by a kid who went there. A pretty good read. Best of luck to you, Pete.

Hi three - have you gone to visit W&L? I haven't had a chance yet, and just made it off their waitlist. I would appreciate any insight you have into the school.
