// UPDATES/COMMENTS //

12/13/05 -- i've significantly altered my profile to be more informative. below are updates on going complete, decisions, etc. and to the right i have my ECs as well as fee waivers for the curious. enjoy! i hope this helps.

12/14/05 -- received an email from ND notifying me that my ED decision was mailed today. times like these make me wish they emailed decisions...

12/15/05 -- the temple letter finally came. took a while to get from philadelphia. also, i got my george mason holiday card signed by anne richard, associate dean/dir of admissions. very nice gesture. hand signed. that's something.

12/19/05 -- called BU to check on my file. it's complete. the date posted is the date i was given as complete date. also called indiana-bloomington, and date posted is date i was given as complete, as well. IU-bloomington did mention that my file was "currently in review with the dean of admissions."

12/20/05 -- called W&L to check if i was complete. told that i would be "receiving a decision shortly."

12/20/05 -- my decision came very quickly, as a matter of fact. W&L letter came by postal mail this afternoon. how ironic. it's my first tier 1 acceptance and first top 25 acceptance!

12/21/05 -- ave maria phone call acceptance. i've never been called before, and it's quite nice receiving a phone call. they got back to me incredibly fast, considering i sent the app 9 days ago.

12/23/05 -- called USC to check status. i am complete. now i'm just waiting on alabama and then it's just the wait til decisions arrive...

12/23/05 -- deferred at illinois, except they called it the "hold" category. same difference.

12/28/05 -- received the "holiday present" waiver from Brooklyn. a little late, if i may say so myself.

01/10/06 -- withdrew from baylor. no scholarship offer, no chance. used the form they sent me. also WL'd at GW. ehhh.... also, i am COMPLETE EVERYWHERE. now i just wait.

01/12/06 -- withdrew from illinois, miami.

01/17/06 -- in at SMU! see below...

02/06/06 -- UVA status check updated to say that my decision mailed. i also rec'd an email about it. i was hopeful that my app wound hang around past the first round of rejections... but i guess not.

02/10/06 -- UVA rejection. oh well. but... SMU scholarship! i'm very excited about the offer. see below.

02/13/06 -- colorado scholarship offer. see below.

02/14/06 -- revised scholarship offers. temple scholarship raised from $10k to $12k/year. also, alabama scholarship received.

02/15/06 -- OCU withdrawal.

02/16/06 -- vanderbilt waitlist. not a surprise. it's what i was expecting. so i guess i'm pretty smart.

02/27/06 -- provisional list at ND. can't say i'm surprised, but i was hoping for a different result.

02/28/06 -- updated scholarship numbers within the school information. i previously had yearly amounts, but switched to the total amount offered.

03/01/06 -- withdrawn from temple, indiana-bloomington

03/08/06 -- recently re-ranked the schools. i'm fickle. also, i REALLY want the sumners scholarship from SMU. so if you're SMU... if you want to make a nice young man happy, grant me an interview. i promise i'll wow you.

03/11/06 -- okay, so the sumners foundation apparently doesn't think i'm good enough. rejected. ouch. will it affect SMU's standing? not negatively. getting an interview would've probably moved SMU above OU, but alas, no interview so SMU and OU stay tied to win me for the fall. p.s. props to alabama, as they have flown up my rankings from as low as group 6 (pretty low) to probably tied for #3 among schools i've been admitted (with W&L).

03/13/06 -- alabama decided to throw in $1,200/year in books in addition to my half-tuition scholarship. thank you!

03/21/06 -- for not getting mail for 4 days, i got very little. which is sad. although, i did get waitlisted at WUSTL. i'm starting to wonder how many waitlists i'm going to end up with... (later 03/21) re-ranked the schools after my visit. decided to not hang around for WUSTL. so, they're out.

03/28/06 -- withdrawn from arizona and hastings.

04/04/06 -- held at case. hmmmm.... confused....

04/07/06 -- visit to alabama was great. additionally, while i was there they upped my scholarship offer to 3/4th's tuition + books + laptop (or full tuition + laptop + books if/when i become a resident). altered the estimated 3 year value.

05/04/06 -- in off the GW waitlist...

06/24/06 -- as you can see, i'm going to OU. also, alabama offered full tuition when i withdrew. they are simply the nicest staff i dealt with--hands down. i highly recommend that everyone apply to alabama next cycle.

07/05/06 -- SMU upped their offer. too late, but thank you... went from 20k/year to 25k/year.

Aim High!
Monday, October 24 2005 at 08:00 PM

Damn, Oklahoma huh? Me and you have a few target schools in common. Always aim high, no matter what!

Shared philosophy
Wednesday, May 25 2005 at 08:00 PM

great minds think alike. Applying to schools can get kinda addicting. I had to force myself to STOP. Fee waivers are just too enticing. Well good luck with the app process. I am sure you will have some tough decisions to make!

Thanks for the good wishes!
Sunday, October 23 2005 at 08:00 PM

Maybe I'll see you at OU. Here's hoping!

Good Luck!
Wednesday, September 28 2005 at 08:00 PM

Your post on my page was very sweet, I hope to see you do just as well! Looks like you've got a good list of schools and amazing soft factors...I can't wait to see where you'll end up!

UT and GULC
Sunday, September 04 2005 at 08:00 PM

Yeah, I haven't heard anything from UT, and I need to call them because I can't log on to the online thing anymore, for some reason. I also went decision at GULC on Friday. I don't think this is a good sign, at least for me, but I guess we'll find out early this week. Good luck with all your apps. Verb

on the $$$ yuo got from the big O. Sorry to hear about Texas, they suck!!

Congrats on Baylor
Sunday, October 16 2005 at 08:00 PM

I'm shocked they didn't give you any money yet. I would guess they're looking for some indication of interest, since with your numbers you can get into better schools. Good luck!

Miami mula
Saturday, December 03 2005 at 07:00 PM

Thanks for the congrats... same to you, now we'll just have to wait it out to see about $ from Miami please keep posted about this if you hear from them... I'll make sure to post when/if I hear anything from them... good luck with the rest of the apps I'll be watching out for ur acceptances

Wednesday, November 23 2005 at 07:00 PM

Expect good news from Temple very soon. Just a hunch.

Thanks!
Thursday, August 04 2005 at 08:00 PM

Thanks for the congrats! Do you want to go to GW?

thanks
Saturday, September 10 2005 at 08:00 PM

i hope you have a great cycle!! good luck!

Interesting response
Thursday, August 04 2005 at 08:00 PM

"Do you want to go there?" "I want to get in." I'm not sure what it means, though. I know you need to get in to go, but if you got in, would you be inclined to go? Is it a top choice? You really applied all over the country!

Sunday, October 23 2005 at 08:00 PM

I hope it's good news from Notre Dame!

OU
Saturday, July 30 2005 at 08:00 PM

no they didn't call just to ding me. I was going to come visit the school and she told me the date that my application would be complete. She invited me to call on that day and find out what they decided.

OCU
Thursday, September 08 2005 at 08:00 PM

Congrats on OCU with $$$. Are you considering attending? Good luck with the rest of your apps.

ND
Tuesday, September 20 2005 at 08:00 PM

Are you planning on doing anything about ND... sending any additional materials, ect.?

OCU vs. OU
Thursday, September 08 2005 at 08:00 PM

I can understand why you would consider OU over OCU, better school with the $$$ going further. Good luck, hope the remaining apps come out the way you hope. Who knows, maybe we both will be future members of the Oklahoma Bar... :-)

hey
Sunday, October 02 2005 at 08:00 PM

why did you apply to so many tier 3 and 4's? You're a lock for Tier 2 maybe even tier 1. Seems like a waste of money to me.

Schools
Saturday, September 17 2005 at 08:00 PM

Yeah you applied to too many schools... but then so did I. '-) And it's always fun to get stuff in the mail, especially acceptances...

I'll be rooting for you! Look at the BU chart, 163s have a good shot.

Thanks...
Thursday, October 20 2005 at 08:00 PM

...for the congrats on LSD. I truly was amazed at the UofMN Acceptance. You also seem to be on quite a roll lately! Like you, I applied to a lot of schools because 1) I wanted to make sure that my wife had options when it came to for her to find a job - someone has to pay for my school :0) and 2) Between this process making me jumpy and LSAC making it so damn easy to hit send, I just couldn't stop myself.

W&L
Sunday, October 16 2005 at 08:00 PM

Congrats on getting in! They're an awesome school - hope you get some money from them - perhaps send in some of your other offers and see if they'll match?

Nice Work
Wednesday, November 30 2005 at 07:00 PM

Hey, We've got similar stats. Any particular school that you're leaning towards? Email me if you get the chance.

how did you know when you went complete at UT?

Congrats
Monday, June 27 2005 at 08:00 PM

On all your acceptances so far, especially Hastings, Arizona and W&L! I'm still waiting for my decisions. I hope they're the same as yours! BTW - any reason you withdrew from Illinois? Just didn't feel the deferral?

dear "a friend"
Sunday, November 13 2005 at 07:00 PM

setting my sights WAY too low? i doubt that. my numbers make me a tier2/lower end of tier1 and top 30 if i'm lucky. but i'm very flattered you think that highly of my chances.

Thanks!
Wednesday, November 30 2005 at 07:00 PM

I can't believe OCU expects people to pay another 20k a year to go there...

But you are lucky
Sunday, August 21 2005 at 08:00 PM

that you don't have to go there.

Monday, June 27 2005 at 08:00 PM

I got "deferred" at Illinois too. Bummer. You have two big schools left for you. Good luck man! I just got my first admittance - Arizona! Thanks for keeping your entire process so detailed as to help out the rest of us! Thanks!

Ya Hidden
Thursday, January 05 2006 at 07:00 PM

I think I may have applied to late in the cycle. Things aren't so hot right now. If I were you I would def go to SMU in Dallas. My best friend is there in his 2L right now and he loves it. But regardless, congrats! ($20,000 grand a year is also amazing for that education!)

Hey mad props, when do u think u will withdraw from OU. I am dying for your scholarship. Also congrats on bama. i hope your happy their

Congrats
Saturday, February 25 2006 at 07:00 PM

Congratulations on Bama, now when you call SMU to tell them you don't want their scholarship, make sure you mention that "Anthony" could use it :) They'll know who I am!

SMU bound...
Saturday, February 25 2006 at 07:00 PM

Likely. I was down in Dallas for their open-house, and I spent about a week touring their campus. I really liked the school, and my girlfriend wants to live in Dallas (family ties). The tough thing is I've got other schools offering full rides, and I'd be taking a loss at SMU. So I went to see Dean Keehan (admissions) to ask for a few more dollars if it's possible, and she said that they need to wait for people who won't be attending to free up scholarships that they won't need. I thought it'd be funny if I could get a few people to mention me when they call up to release their seats and scholarship offers :) How about you? How did you come to choose Bama over the other schools, and how hard was it walking away from such impressive offers???

having options is great, and i'm fortunate to have the options i do. i'm not sure what i'm going to do, but i'm going to eventually have to make a call. but, i'm going to make the best decision i can make with the best information i can obtain. i can see a few people have been upset and will continue to be upset that i'm still weighing my options, but at this point, i'm not sure what's best for my future. GW, OU, and Bama are all great options.

Congrats on FINALLY making a decision. If we are in the same section, I look forward to meeting you in the fall. From the looks of this site, we will have some solid classmates and 'competition'. Have an enjoyable summer.
