to you as well with the application process. Just out of curiosity you said Wash U was your alma mater, any reason why you are not applying there? With your GPA and LSAT score you would probably be a good candidate.
I put up the dates that I am aware of. Some of the schools that I have been accepted to I have since deleted completion confirmation e-mails. Also just as a side note in my haste to get my ND application out I neglected to sign it, which is why my file my not be complete yet.
Its really just what I have heard from a few family friends that are lawyers, so its not exactly a representative sample. My cousin currently goes PT to Loyola and I know some of her friends have gotten jobs at big firms around the city. The main reason I have kent higher than Loyola is its location in the city and I also like Kent's building more than Loyola's. Either way they are both good schools and doing well at either one probably would leave you with a lot of job ops in Chicago.
...In response to your post on my board. My wife and I will have been married 6 years by the time I start Law School. She will have just finished her Masters program (CRNA) and understands that Law School is going to be tough. But being Military we have handled tougher situations. Basically we are going to enjoy the summer and try and see a few places before schools starts. If you want to know more just shoot me an email. v/r
hahahahhahah me too! I'm on campus and I ran around telling everyone in my office....then I ran to the quad and told anyone who looked vaguely familar...WE'RE GOING TO LAW SCHOOL!!!! congratulations :) lets keep in touch
I just sent all my apps on monday and tuesday so they are just starting to request my lsac report. hopefully it wont take too long to hear back. I applied pretty late in the game but I took the december lsat not really knowing how I would do so I held off applying until I found out. Good luck with everything and hopefully you get into some great schools. Also, what is your top choice?
hey guess what? We're going to law school.
"Hey, where are you going to school next year?" "Oh, I don't know- I have several excellent (tier 1) OPTIONS" goo us!
... i still can't figure out how to view user's email addresses... i heard from uiuc in a letter i got on friday. i just moved, and all my law stuff is going to my parents' house, so i couldn't tell you what the letter looked like, said, etc... hope this helps!
UIUC E-mailed me at 9:44 Eastern time with the acceptance notice. It was definitely a great way to start the day. Good luck to you and congrats on the admits!
Congratulations on your acceptances as well, ND is really awesome. I am in state at Illinois, so in state tuition plus scholarship cash is just to good a deal to turn down. I would also like to work in Chicago, and Illinois has a good alumni network there as well. I'm surprised you haven't heard back from UW or Illinois yet, with your grades and scores you seem like a strong canidate for both. Congratulations on your acceptances though, and best of luck with the decision process.
Yes, that was me... I got a phone call from the MN asst dean, who's an alum at my undergrad, indicating that I should have good news coming very soon- I was quite excited. As to ND, I'm still very interested, but its going to be tough for me to get out on most of their official days- I think I'm going to try to go on my own. I'll keep you updated though- have you withdrawn from IU-B yet? I did. I felt terrible about it...
I did get an e-mail, but it came on the same day as the actual envelope. It was an e-mail to an accepted students chat forum though and not the typical congratulations on your acceptance e-mail.
I have talked to others who only got the admitted students forum e-mail and no congratulatory one, so I wonder if they only sent them out for the EA or ED students. UW does not send out an acceptance e-mail either, just in case you were wondering.
How come you decided to add Minnesota so late in the game, especially with some great acceptances already in the bag?

I hear ya about applying to more reaches. I am sort of kicking myself now for applying to Kentucky and U Conn instead of using the cash to apply to a couple T 20s, but I am not sure if the scholarship cash would be there at schools that would barely let me in which may make a lower ranked school hard to turn down anyway. Oh well, good luck with Minnesota.
Yeah any input on WUSTL would be helpful, I don't know a whole lot about the school outside of info from Princeton Review and US News which is never that insightful and from the pretty pictures on the WUSTL Law website. So any feedback on the school or town would be helpful.
Wow, was not expecting that much, but it was very informative. Thanks!
Way too much time on my hands to kick the addiction.
I'm doing better, thanks. sorry for the delayed reply, I've been out of town. More soon, email to come!
I mention some schools in my addl info section that are hidden in my apps listing because they are still pending. Although I doubt it will be an issue, I want to make it difficult for adcomms to track back to my profile. Hence also lowering my numbers a bit (I'm actually 178/3.54). As I get decisions, I am unhiding the apps. When I'm done, I'll post the searchable correct numbers.
hey, just wondering if you had settled the loyola/ND decision yet?
Well good luck with UIUC, I'll be there tomorrow for the open house so I'll let you know if its worth waiting for. I agree with you that where you go is about more than numbers and loyola is a well respected school in Chicago so I guess it really depends on how much you would be sacraficing to go to ND. Good Luck with the rest of your schools and maybe we'll end up at the same place next year!
Yeah it was kind of a bummer to not get any $ from WUSTL, but on the positive side it made my final decision much easier. I am actually going to the admitted students day tommarow, so if you have any questions about it feel free to ask. I am still shocked that you are yet to here back from UIUC, but at least you already have several other excellent acceptances so you have plenty of options already.
I sent the app in late October, went complete mid-November and had a decision in mid-end December.
they sent me a small letter about 3 weeks ago. i thought it was a rejection, but my application is on "hold"
Thanks so much and No I didn't get an e-mail from Illinois first. Just the letter!! Good Luck!!
A hold? What in the world are they thinking? I would have accepted you months ago! I hope you find out soon because I know you've been waiting patiently and you at least deserve a decision at this point. Good luck!
I hope I'm included in this wave of stuff. It will probably take an extra day or two for the mail to get to me down here in Texas, so hopefully I can make you feel better with my rejection in a couple of days! ;) Good thing is, Houston's deposit isn't due until May 1, so I still have some time.
Sorry about the deferral at UIUC. I can't believe how long they are making you wait. Same with UW. Do you have a school your leaning towards yet?
I haven't seen my letter yet, but the director informed me by phone that I'm on the "priority waitlist", which means I'm essentially done at UIUC. Rest assured you have a much better chance at getting in from the hold list than I do from the damn "priority" list. At least that's what I keep telling myself for UMN.
I guess it depends how interested you are in going there. If you are interested you should probably try to follow up on it, otherwise you already have several other sweet options and could just tell them to go to hell.
I honestly don't know; what did the letter say about deferred status? I've seen at least one instance of two applicants that were virtually indistinguishable on lsn, on was WLd the other deferred, so I dont know how UIUC makes the distinction or it's significance. Good Luck!
UMN took awhile to go complete for me too. After you go complete they say 4-6 weeks and it took me 5. I think thats where I want to go even if I get off any of the other waitlist, unless Penn shocks me and lets me in. Good luck with your apps.
lovely, how is the cycle treating you? You look like things are setting out admirably well for you. FYI, I got a Minnesota decision reasonably quickly after going complete- they have a pretty good turnaround from what I hear. I still have NO idea what I'm doing next year. Hm.
not to nag, but i agree with bobdealmighty. could you kindly withdraw from loyola? congrats on your decision to attend ND (even though i hate their football team)! best of luck to you!
I'm sure we'll be in at least one of the same classes, can't wait to meet you!
I think that my apps were just the right combination of stuff, I would be naive to believe that race didn't play a factor, but I think that there was something more at play. I wrote about my upbringing and socioeconomic status. I also think my recs were amazing. HTH Feel free to email if you have questions
