Additional info & updates

Very cool site, I had no idea this existed. I am digging it. I got nothing but love for my other low GPA brethren. We will have the last laugh.

IU in a priority mail envelope
DePaul and Lewis and Clark in big envelopes.
No phone calls, guess noone wants to talk to me.

All deferrals, waitlists and rejections in small envelopes. Not following up on any of them, except for Illinois.

2/26- Going to a dinner in SLC for IU alums and such. The law school dean et all will be there. Should be cool. I invited the dean to come skiing, but they wont be in town for too long. Am I crazy to ask the IU brass if they want to hit the slopes? Maybe

2/27- I had a very good conversation with the Illinois director of admissions, she is a really nice lady.

3/1- My dog just puked on my foot while I was writing an additional statement for Illinois. Is that a good sign?

3/3- Rejected by Utah, I could see it coming. They dont take fliers on low gpa high lsat candidates. Oh well, if it wasnt for the in-state tuition I wouldn't have wanted to go there at all.

3/10- Deferred at Iowa, bummer. I will be pursuing this.

3/16- Rejected at Pitt. Small envelope, addressing me as Ms. ---- , and a photocopied signature at the bottom. Basically said my application wasnt competitve. What a joke, wasn't going there anyway, but they should put a little more effort into not leaving a bad taste in peoples mouths. They should also put a little more effort into getting into the top tier.

UPDATE:
1/25/08. I forgot about this site, and I was dorking around on the net this morning and decided to come check it out again. I kicked ass my 1L year and transferred to a t10 school. During OCI I batted 11/11 on call back interviews and I am going to a v10 firm this summer. My Ugrad GPA was horrible, but for anyone in a similar position, you can overcome it. Good luck to any splitter who reads this.

Rejected at Michigan State and admitted at IU-B and DePaul. This is one of the strangest profiles I've seen. Where do you want to go? Congratulations on your acceptances.

I thought I was a shoe in at Mich. State. I was shocked. I guess my numbers are very polarizing (solid LSAT, horrible gpa) I can't explain it. I would like to go to UT, but I have a snowballs chance in hell. I am relegated to the 3 I state schools, Indiana, Illinois, and Iowa, and I will be trying to transfer after year 1. I really am not as dumb as my gpa would suggest. I just lacked motivation, and F___'d up.

Thank you

for your kind words!!

Hey

My head is already beginning to hurt thinking about some of my choices. IU is still a real possibility for me and I will try to attend their event next weekend. I would love to take you up on the beer offer. Likewise, should I end up at Columbia, I will buy you one of those NYC happy hour $7 beers. I'll keep track of your profile and hope for the best.

I probably will be at UIUC, but I am waiting until after the open house on March 3 to make a final decision. Good luck getting off the waitlist, hope to see you drinking Champaign in the fall.

good luck

Tulane accepted me 3 days after my complete date so I'm guessing it's definitely not 100% yet. They even sent me a travel voucher to visit for free so i'll be doing that before deciding anything. You should def throw them an app if you can, your lsat will get you in. Congrats on your acceptances man, I'll be checking to see where else you get in. Oh and yes laziness in undergrad is essential as we have proven.

I know what you mean. Thanks for the comments. I secretly wanted USD anyway. I economically wanted Utah but that law school is a hole anyway. I can't imagine more of the same for 3 more years anyway. .

No worries. L&C and Indiana are both great schools -- if I was choosing between Utah and L&C, I would take L&C any day. I think Utah rejected me because I made it clear in my personal statement that Utah was not my first choice -- I don't think they liked that much. As long as you didn't do that, you still have a shot.

Tulane

I have mixed feelings about Tulane. I have read that the job market, housing, and other variables that impact the quality of life are relatively good around the law school. I am leaning towards a focus in public interest. Tulane may be the pefect place to gain valueable experience b/c the city needs so much help. If you have a shot at getting in this would be the admissions cycle to do it. Good luck with whataver law school you choose.

hmmm interesting...

katrina did throw a wrench in my plans too...I am from the MS coast, which will be looking pretty rough for a while now - that is actually one of the reasons that I would like to go to Tulane, so I can be close to home to help my friends and fam. rebuild...But, I was in n.o. last week right before mardi gras, and the garden district and quarter looked pretty good, most everything is back open, and midtown looks good, but everything else...eh...If I get in, I will just be worried about housing, it will be tight come the end of the summer, I guess we will have to see....too bad for your 'rents, are they planning on going back? it is just a hard situation....

Big ups to a fellow high lsat/low gpa splitter. If I may ask a personal question: when did you go complete at IU? I've been waiting on them to give me a decision for a couple of months now! Good luck with the rest of those apps!

Illinois?
Friday, May 13 2005 at 08:00 PM

How and when did you hear about your deferral from IL?

Congratulations
Tuesday, September 20 2005 at 08:00 PM

On your acceptances, good luck on the rest!

Thanks for the message!
Sunday, November 27 2005 at 07:00 PM

And congrats on all your acceptances so far. Looks like you'll have some good choices by the end of the cycle - and it's always nice to have one of your first choices all set. As for me, I don't really know where I'm going yet - still keeping my hopes up for Yale, but we'll see. I'll be checking your profile for updates - some of your additional info updates are hilarious! Good luck!
