Additional info & updates

"Received" date is the date law schools requested reports. Scholarships are totaled over three years and include both merit and need-based grants. As far as I can tell, only Cardozo and Fordham are completely merit-based. I included the standard 3rd year public interest funding for Harvard.

11-25-07: Unsolicited viewbooks make good wrapping paper.

11-30-07: All of my LORs are in - yippee! Also, I'm supposed to hear from Duke by Thursday ...

12-3-07: In at Fordham! (Notified by email; letter went to permanent address about ten days later.) Yay!
-1-11-08: Called to ask if I was still in the running for merit scholarships. Dean Cunningham spoke to scholarship committee and reported that I would be offered 25K/year! Letter came a couple weeks after that.

12-5-07: In at Duke! (Notified by email; big envelope followed about a week later.)

12-8-07: In at NYU! I'm thrilled! (Folder in the mail - big, thin white envelope with purple folder inside.)

12-10-07: I had my Northwestern interview today, and I think it went well.

1-9-08: Call from Cardozo with full ride plus 10K/year stipend - Wowee!
- Letter received 1-11-08 in space age metallic envelope. The Paulsen scholarship provides full tuition and stipend for the first year. It is fully renewable for the second and third years provided that I am in the top 40% of my class.

1-24-08: The green envelope from Columbia was waiting for me when I got home today! Several other Columbia goodies have followed including a NY guidebook.

1-25-08: Northwestern acceptance by email/.pdf file on status checker page! Leather portfolio with Northwestern literature arrived via FedEx on 2/5.
- 2/7: Financial aid award received via email: $30,000/yr regardless of GPA

2-8-08: Deferred at Michigan by email. ("We've reviewed your app and have not made a decision." - I'm calling that a deferral.) Sent an additional LOR through LSAC (2/8) and a LOCI by email (2/10).
- 2-29-08: Waitlisted by email. I am not staying on the waitlist.

3-12-08: Waitlisted at Penn by email. Replied that I wouldn't be staying on. For practical purposes, my cycle is probably over.

3-14-08: Financial aid letter from Duke came in the mail.

3-14-08: E-mail from TS at Harvard
- 3-18-08: TS1 - I was quite nervous and (delightfully?) awkward. Anxiously awaiting more news.
- 3-24-08: TS-2!!!

4-12-08: Scholarship offer from Columbia via mail: $40,000 (offered to match Harvard's public interest 3rd year free deal)

4-15-08: Scholarship offer from NYU via email: $10,000 first two years plus $5,000 or $10,000 the third year. (Third year funding amount depends on whether I work in the public or private sector.) Withdrawing from NYU, Columbia, and Northwestern today. All are awesome, but I think HLS is awesomer. I might hold off sending my deposit in for a few days as Stanford continues to take its sweet time rejecting me.

4-16-08: Withdrew from Stanford via email. I'll be enrolling in HLS!

4-18-08: Rejection letter from Stanford came a couple of days after my withdrawal.

How come you didn't apply to Cornell? I guess now that you're in it at NYU it doesn't matter but it could've been a good safety option for NY placement.

good luck, duck.

Very heavily towards Mich. It will take a very good CCN offer to even put them on the table.

85% towards Michigan. If UMichigan was in Chicago or NYC, I'd have signed already.

...to you too! I'll email you with a bit more about my softs, but don't get too excited. (I'm not Bill Gates, nor have I cured cancer or anything so impressive.) Wishing you continued success with your apps!
