Extra Curricular Information

All my stats and info are real. I had a great 06-07 cycle and am now a 1L at The Boston University School of Law, a top 20 Law School. In the application process, just be yourself (cheesie, I know... but TRUE)! Please, use my information to your benefit!

Additional info & updates

Denver U - Early December email acceptance followed by acceptance letter Dec. 11th with personal hand-written note from Dean Davis commenting on my Personal Essay. December 20th recieved scholarship of $52,800 and hand-written note from Director Spradley. Early Jan. recieved call from Admissions. Withdrawn!

CU Boulder - December 21st acceptance letter from Dean McCord. Withdrawn!

U New Mexico - Made appointment with Admissions Agent to sit in on a class on Jan 9th. Recieved acceptance letter from Dean Mitchell dated Jan. 10th. Withdrawn!

Northeastern U - Recieved acceptance letter Jan. 11th by mail from Dean Knoll with short, hand-written note. In the same envelope recieved a scholarship of $25,500. Withdrawn!

UPenn - Applied ED. Recieved letter on December 15th from Dean Post stating that the Admissions Committee had placed my file on 'Hold' the letter also solicited additional information from me as well as a LSDAS update. Sent 'thank-you' letter in early Jan.

LAW SCHOOL UPDATES - On January 15th I sent the remaining schools (BU, UPenn, GWU, Emory, and UW) an updated transcript, new GPA, information on a newly completed study abroad in Chile, and a 'Why _______?' essay. Each essay was personally tailored to the Law School.

U Washington - Acceptance letter dated Jan 19th. recieved from Dean Madrid. On bottom of acceptance letter was a long (2 paragraph) note commenting on my personal essay and resume. This must have crossed-paths with the update I sent UW in the post office. Feb. 20th recieved call from Admissions official telling me the Dir. of FinAid would be calling me with a 'generous officer' later in the week and inviting me to visit the campus again (they would help cover my travel expences). FinAid Director Hammontree called on Feb. 21st and offered me a $20,000 scholarship for the first year and $10,000 off in-state tuition each year thereafter. It is final... for 4-5 days around April 16th, UW will fly me out to tour the campus, sit in on a class, and stay with fellow law students. I'm excited! Went to the Open House and was very impressed... this is a very difficult decision!

George Washington - Straight up REJECTED! Recieved 3 paragraph notification letter dated Feb. 6th from Dean Richards. I must say I'm a little suprised; I hope this isn't a sign of things to come.

Boston U - Acceptance via phone call Feb. 21st. Details to come in the mail later this week! Yay! Feb. 26th recieved acceptance packet... It's nice to realize that it all wasn't an elaborate practical joke. Called FinAid on Mar. 5th and found out my FinAid application was complete. I should recieve my offer in the mail early next week! Recieved FinAid letter dated March 14th offering me $20,000 renuable scholarship for all three years... this makes for a tough decision!

Withdraws - Withdrew from DU, CU-Boulder, UNM, and Northeastern on Feb. 22nd to make room for others. This narrows my selection down to just a few schools... let's see what happens!

Lewis & Clark - Feb. 23rd recieved an acceptance email from the Director of L&C's Indian Studies Program. Recieved acceptance package the next day. Why would I go to L&C with UW offering me so much money? Withdrawn!

Emory - Feb 24th still haven't heard from Emory and am worried their responce was lost in the mail. I will call them on Monday. Contacted Admissions on Feb. 28th... they're still deciding and it's been a full 4 months. March 8th and Drum roll please........ REJECTED! Well, that's OK I would have gone to BU over it anyway. Still I'm a little suprised, though not shocked; I mean they did take over 4 months to decide!

PENN YOU'RE THE LAST SCHOOL I NEED TO HEAR FROM... PLEASE, OH PLEASE LET ME INTO YOUR WONDERFUL INSTITUTION! CALL ME ON THE PHONE, SEND ME AN EMAIL, OR A LARGE PACKAGE IN THE MAIL! IT'S ALL GOOD MAN, IT HAS ALWAYS BEEN!

UPENN - Wrote letter stating that my BU deposit is due on April 15th and that I would much rather send my deposit into Penn... hope it helped; I'm getting nervous! AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH WAITLISTED!

I think I'm leaning towards Boston, but I don't know; Seattle's it's own thing. Kinda disapointed but I'll keep updating.

Decision - Boston.... here I come!

Good decision because I was rejected off of Penn's Waitlist in late June...

on all those! Got to be a tough choice between boston and washington --- is there anything you can tell me about New Mexico --- I applied there b/c (a) I visited albequerque once, just the area by the Uni, and thought it was nice, (b) the school is ranked, and (c) it had environmental law.... now that I think of it, not the best reasons for me to apply to a T2 far away... but do you know of their placement in other markets? Or anything you could say about albequerque on the whole?

Congratulations

...on your acceptances & big $$$ offers from UW & BU! :-) Sounds like a great choice either way...

how did you decide between UW/BU
Friday, March 30 2007 at 08:00 PM

Hi, I noticed that you were considering both UW and BU. I'm in the same situation, and I still can't make up my mind even after visiting both schools. I was wondering what finally made you decide on BU? any feedback would be appreciated. thanks!

I am having a hard time starting my personal essay. It seems like you knocked that part of your application out of the park. I was just wondering if you had any pointers or could offer any help. Thanks!

It does sound like your essay made all the difference. I'm just starting this whole process, and would also be very grateful for any info you could share about your personal stmt and essay. Thanks!
