I'm open to any wisdom you LSNers can drop... feel free to comment.

Best of luck

You've got strong numbers, I'm sure you will do well. Are you planning on submitting an app to UofM? You should; my friend is a 1L and likes it a lot (A2 is my hometown). Perhaps I will see you at Toledo in the fall. Best of luck in the cycle!

Made me nervous too... not sure why. I'm guessing it's the low GPA, but after three acceptances at the safety schools, I am now nervous to hear from anybody else. My actual GPA is 3.22, but since LSAC counts in all of my repeated courses, it dropped quite a bit. So who knows. I have a legit addendum but who knows what happened there.

thanks!

hey - thanks, i'll be sure to update so you can check on our schools. You've probably got a better shot than i do cause your cummulative gpa is a bit higher than mine. good luck!

Congratulations to you, as well

Thanks for the note and the well-wishes. Full tuition must be a good feeling? A free legal education would be awfully nice. Here's hoping to more good news for you in the future.

nice work on W&L. where do you go to school?

Hey Dude
Wednesday, July 12 2006 at 08:00 PM

Thanks! Yup our index is quite similar for a lot of places. Curious to see how one point up on the LSAT and one point down on GPA will affect us at these schools. Since your email was an Emory email, I have a bone to pick. What the hell is taking them so long!!!! :) Just messin with ya. Seriously though, from what you've been able to observe, how do you like the law school and life at Emory in general? Also, why the late applications? A lot of these places might waitlist you - not because you're unqualified but simply because they don't have the space they had 2 months ago.

going complete

bahhhh i am also waiting patiently to hear that I am complete at ND. WashU, and GW. I sure hope we get an email or something soon. Good luck!

thanks :)

Thanks for your response. We applied to some of the same schools, both a little later in the game. I'll watch for you. Good luck!

P.S. If you are looking to read other law school books, two that I read and liked were "The Ivey Guide to Law School Admissions" by Anna Ivey (though that was more interesting in the actual application process) and "Law School Confidential" by Robert H. Miller. I think that one will be helpful to look at right before starting in the fall. :)

Watch the mail for OSU. I am going out to Ohio to visit other schools so I called them today and they let me know that I made it in! They didn't mention if they were going to mail decisions or make phone calls. Good luck!

hilarious

I must be one of a kind, law schools don't seem to know what to do with me. Every time I hear from a law school I feel like I'm playing Russian Roulette.

Emory&Yale

Hey man, thanks so much for your kind words and the xtra info about Emory. Seriously though, for some reason I think they were searchin' for something wrong so they didn't have to admit me. But 'cause their search came up short, they kinda had their backs against the wall. See... you Southerners are still holdin' a grudge against the North side aren't ya.. heh. Just as an aside, withdrawing gives you good Karma. I withdrew from IU-B w/$$$, when I had absolutely NOTHING else on the table. See for yourself, the comments are holarious. "WHY DID YOU DO THAT??" and the like. I'm sure you're gonna do great this cycle. I'll be back to touch base.

Congratulations! Maybe we'll both end up there! I'm still waiting for the letter, hoping for some $$$.

Where to go?
Wednesday, January 24 2007 at 07:00 PM

I'm glad you enjoy my profile. I just looked at all of the new graphs on lsn, and I've decided that I have no idea what happened at Florida, Cincinnati, or Michigan. Speaking of where to go, I have visitied Akron, Michigan State, Michigan, Notre Dame and Ohio State. I will be visiting WashU, George Washington and George Mason in the next couple weeks. From what I've seen so far, I like Notre Dame the best, but I'm on the WL. Of the schools I've already seen, I liked OSU second best. It seems like a great school and a fun city. We'll see though, I may change my mind after seeing the other schools. I have a feeling it is all still going to be up in the air right up to the deposit deadline. Lucky me. How about you, where are you leaning?

GMU

Congrats! Another similar result. I'll be visiting GMU next week, it'll be interesting to see what I think of it.

GM Visit
Wednesday, January 24 2007 at 07:00 PM

I'm back from my trip to GM. At this point, they are on the top of my list as far as my out right acceptances go. I was impressed by the students- it doesn't seem cut throat at all. I talked to half a dozen students, and they all said that it was a great atmosphere. Also, they made it sound like the job market in DC is great, and that getting internships and part time jobs after the first year is pretty easy. I'm visiting WashU this week, and they'll have to make an amazing pitch to have me change my mind. Basically the only way I won't go to GM is if I get off the waitlist at GW.

OSU Disinterest
Wednesday, January 24 2007 at 07:00 PM

They only reason that OSU dropped is that Columbus doesn't have as many opportunities for local internships and part time jobs in intellectual property law as DC does. OSU would be GREAT because of the price and football, but it would be more difficult to work local during school. I'm married with a kid, and moving around during law school isn't appealing to me.

wash's
Wednesday, December 06 2006 at 07:00 PM

i know you did! I wasn't so sure, but i guess you were right! I think i'm beginning to rule out money in favor of rankings and hireability.. but it's hard to let it go. Now I'm just down to choosing between Wash U and W&L... what are you thinking?

should have read...
Wednesday, December 06 2006 at 07:00 PM

i guess i should've paid more attention to your updates. That sucks about Wash U, but I'm sure you'll get in soon. Where do you think you'd go between those two (or GW or OSU) if you had to choose?

Hmmmmm
Friday, October 15 2004 at 08:00 PM

I know this is incredibly random and semi-stalkerish but I think I sat next to your mom and sister on a flight from Detroit to Boston last week. A lot of the info your mom told me about you and what's on your profile matches up. Do you go to Emory?

Not quite sure
Friday, October 15 2004 at 08:00 PM

I sent in a deposit to Kent, but if I get into UMN or Wash U I'll go there instead. Have you made your choice yet?

Congrats to you, as well
Friday, October 06 2006 at 08:00 PM

That's not an easy decision. I assume you would have in-state at OSU on top of their offer. I had a similar offer from IU-B. Ultimately I could not turn down W&L. Hope to see you there. Oh, and the post above from OSU... I'm not sure what legal circles they're traveling in, but I don't buy their contention about OSU's name being better than W&L's. That is not the least bit consistent with my experience... Nonetheless, it is not only about name and prestige, and you've undoubtedly got some other important factors to consider.

Did you attend the admitted students day back on April 13?

OSU
Wednesday, January 24 2007 at 07:00 PM

forget my earlier post...I just noted that you did attend the students day in your updates

Congrats on the decision!
Friday, October 06 2006 at 08:00 PM

That's tough...passing on W&L even though your girlfriend is there. But you're right, 5 hours is not a bad drive, and the difference in cost is probably quite significant. Good luck to you.

OSU!

I fully expect to see you at OSU in the fall! There are still some waitlists, but I'm 99% sure. Have to admit, I'm excited to meet some of my future classmates, especially since I can't find any of them on the intertubes, so feel free to send me a message.

congrats

looks like your decision wasn't too difficult afterall. good luck at osu!
