Extra Curricular Information

I guess I can post more detailed stuff now. Here's a shot at it:

Worked part time through college at various internships, one with a large movie studio, two with large public relations firms, one with a talent agency--usually around 25 hours a week.

I also was the VP-Recruitment for my Panhellenic Council, so I ran a six-day, six figure budget event for around 3,000 people, including creating award-winning marketing materials, holding two seperate ethics symposium, and running the most successful recruitment on my campus in 20 years.

I founded two political organizations on my campus, Students for Edwards during the primary season, and an organization about media bias.

I'm also in various honor societies, five in total, I think.

I've been Dean's list every semester since one, and have done significant volunteer work with the Ronald McDonald House, Planned Parenthood, and did some volunteer work after Hurricane Katrina.

And, I am a resident of the state of Texas.

Great numbers! You've got UT locked up for sure with your residency. Any concerns about your major and possible negative impact on adcomm decisions? I'm freaking out that my journalism degree will look too weak - guess I am just looking for some reassurance from a fellow MC major. Good Luck with your apps. I'll keep an eye on your progress!!!

Didn't know that...
Wednesday, September 28 2005 at 08:00 PM

Well, now I think it's odd that I didn't get a fee waiver...but really I think it might have something to do with my applying so early. When were those fee waviers sent out?

Law interest
Wednesday, September 28 2005 at 08:00 PM

Hey tral - what kind of law are you interested in?

ahh....
Wednesday, September 28 2005 at 08:00 PM

eh, I'm still debating on type of law...I'm thinking of maybe doing global law and getting an llm, or maybe just going for the big bucks and doing corporate. And no, I did paper apps. Maybe that's why i didn't get the waivers. Whew!

Baylor buddies, it is
Saturday, September 10 2005 at 08:00 PM

Like you, I am not apt to be heading to Baylor. I applied because it was free and, based on their numbers, I figured I was guaranteed a full-ride. Nice to pick up a bargaining chip to use at the schools I really want to attend!

Congratulations

On the Baylor offer!

Baylor Scholarship
Wednesday, September 28 2005 at 08:00 PM

They gave me till April 1. I figure that's pretty standard. I doubt I will hear from most of the other schools till Jan or Feb, so I expect April is about right for me to be able to get back to Baylor.

hey sweetie
Wednesday, August 31 2005 at 08:00 PM

Congrats on GULC. I just got mine in to them prior to the EA so hopefully I'll hear from them before too long. Here's hoping we both get in everywhere we apply.

Yes
Saturday, September 10 2005 at 08:00 PM

Yeah I got the notification of receipt.

Congrats
Wednesday, September 07 2005 at 08:00 PM

Congrats on hearing from both UT and Georgetown so early. Of the two which one do you think you would rather attend. I am a big fan of Georgetown and I would love if I had a chance to go there.

Are you following me, or am I following
Saturday, September 10 2005 at 08:00 PM

Congrats! It looks as though we can now be UT & Georgetown buddies, as well. So is it definitely Texas unless Yale/Harvard pan out?

Congrats on UT
Saturday, September 10 2005 at 08:00 PM

I'm jealous of your scholarship

Great job so far!
Monday, June 27 2005 at 08:00 PM

Hey - if you get accepted to USC and decide not to go there, you think you can hand off your acceptance letter to me and I can go in your place? That'd be super. :)

i want to call you lucky
Sunday, November 13 2005 at 07:00 PM

but it's obvious that you just have the skills to get in anywhere you want. i wouldn't be suprised to see you clean up this cycle. alas, i'm a bit jealous.

The trend continues, indeed
Saturday, September 10 2005 at 08:00 PM

Now, let's hope it keeps it up. I see that UVA has begun to make some phone calls. Here's hoping we both get an exciting phone call next week!

=)
Friday, September 02 2005 at 08:00 PM

Maybe so. Are you a Trojan too? Congrats on GTown and UT - great schools.

Wednesday, September 28 2005 at 08:00 PM

Thanks for that advice LeBron.

Amazing isn't it?
Wednesday, September 28 2005 at 08:00 PM

They let us girls watch sportscenter too!

question
Monday, November 28 2005 at 07:00 PM

What did your letter from Columbia say? Were they putting you on "reserve?" Just curious, because that's what my letter said, and I took that to mean waitlisted.

Columbia deferral
Wednesday, September 28 2005 at 08:00 PM

Yes, it was the reserve thing. I don't really know what it is, they included a letter saying how it was different from a waitlist, but now that I reread it, I think you are correct.

Chicago $$$
Friday, September 16 2005 at 08:00 PM

Congrats on the Chicago money, that's a great deal - that should help take the sting from Yale. Do you have any idea where you're leaning at this point? Care at all about your waitlists/deferrals?

USC
Monday, June 27 2005 at 08:00 PM

Congratulations on your cycle. Alot of VERY good schools. Looks like you have some choices to make. Did you go to USC? Feel free to e-mail me. Maybe we know some of the same people. Good luck with your decision.

Chicago Money
Wednesday, November 09 2005 at 07:00 PM

Congrats on the UofC money. Did you apply for need-based aid at all, or is this just merit-based?

Chicago $$
Wednesday, September 28 2005 at 08:00 PM

Hi people, The Chicago $$ was just merit, and is weighted more heavily to the first year (i.e. 16,000 first year, 10,000 second year, etc.) Right now it's a race between Chicago and Texas, we shall see who wins me in the end!

Chicago vs Texas
Saturday, September 10 2005 at 08:00 PM

Congrats! Two very good choices.

Good luck on finding out what's right f
Thursday, September 08 2005 at 08:00 PM

I'd be very interested to hear your reasoning for UC over UT or vice versa. I just got back from Chicago (did the whole interview thing) and am not sure what I would decide if I was in your position. Shoot me an email if you want to discuss it.

Waiting on NYU... My application was completed a day earlier than yours in NYU. Did you call the Admissions office at any time to check the status of your app. to find out when a decision would be mailed. Im very close to doing that. Smart move?

Chicago v. Texas
Wednesday, September 28 2005 at 08:00 PM

Hi everyone, To answer recent questions: ...-Right now I am leaning towards Texas, but probably won't commit/withdraw from everywhere until the lat possibly moment. I will be withdrawing from Virginia and Michigan this week though, no longer interested in them. Nowayman-- I PMed you. --: I withdrew because I was no longer interested, I don't want to sit in waitlist hell with Columbia, I have issues with a required 1L professor at NYU, and I was never interested in NW in the first place, just applied cause I got a fee waiver. I never even interviewed. Bpelcs- I was a bit of a special case at NYU, I applied EA and then they lost my appication which is why my complete date is so late. However, they still considered me for EA which is prolly why I have a decision and you don't. I have called them before though, and they were always very helpful.

Withdrawing. . .
Tuesday, February 14 2006 at 07:00 PM

Thanks for the reply...By the way, around what time of year do you have to withdraw from most schools? And on that note, do you HAVE to withdraw if u decide not to attend, or is it just a nice thing to do for others that are on the waitlist? Doesn't ur spot automatically become available to someone else once you pass the initial deposit deadline for a school?

Chicago
Monday, June 27 2005 at 08:00 PM

You know, you should've stuck it out with Northwestern so that you could room with your college roommate again. But I guess you could probably still do that if you go to Chicago. How far away are the two? BTW - don't go to Texas. They suck. :)~
