ADDITIONAL INFO & UPDATES

I PLAN TO DO PUBLIC SERVICE LAW, I'D LIKE TO HEAR FROM SOME OTHER PEOPLE THAT ARE INTERESTED IN THAT TOO!!!

*2nd round cycle - We'll see how it goes.

**Scholarships renewable each year

11/02 - Accepted - CHARLOTTE LAW for Spring 2011 $9,000/year (WD)

11/08 - Accepted TJSL for Spring 2011 $12,000/year (WD)

11/30 - Accepted BARRY $10,000/year

12/9 - Rejected @ KENTUCKY, Oh well, on to the next one.

12/17 - STETSON reconsideration DENIED! So I have officially been rejected from Stetson 3x. Really hurts a gals ego to say the least.

1/6/11 - CHICAGO KENT - Rejected- Ouch!

1/10- CARDOZO- applied PT summer program.
1/14 - Accepted to FL COASTAL LAW with $9500/year

1/24 - Rejected at MARQUETTE, that one hurt...

1/27 - Sent additional info to UF. Hopefully that will help my chances. Hey they suggested it, so it couldn't hurt. Could it?

2/3 - FIU decision in the mail. Fingers are crossed for an in state acceptance!

2/6 - Rejected at FIU for the second time... Ugh! They really don't like me.

2/9 - Rejected at UW- Madison. That really hurt! They have a program I'm interested in. Plus I really like that area. Oh well.

2/16 - JMLS - Rejected via snail mail. That was kind of a shock.

2/22 - Rejected - South Carolina. Too expensive anyhow...

3/3 - FSU sent decision by mail... umm, let me guess? A reject?

3/5 - Dinged at FSU. Not a surprise, but a nice letter nonetheless. Also, reject from CARDOZO, too expensive to see going there anyhow.

4/15/11 - Sent seat deposit to FCSL. I'm still hoping for FAMU though!

4/27/11 - Called DAYTON Law today about 20x hoping to not get their voicemail. Just trying to check how that waitlist is going, although I'm not planning on attending. It never hurts to try to see if they'll give me some money.
FAMU is taking their time... I don't want to push, but, come on people!!

5/4/11- got a lovely email from FCSL today raising my scholarship from $9500/yr - $15000/yr. Pretty nice!

5/6/11- withdrew from DAYTON today. Card and emailed several time last week to discuss how the waitlist was coming along- no response or call back any time. Finally got in touch and they said, still going to waitlist you for now... Umm, ppl with the same scores have gotten in and been given scholarships. Obviously they don't want a random white girl from FL.

5/16 - Waitlisted at FAMU?? Seriously? That's a little shocking. I'll send them a LOCI because they are my first choice. Glad to know I have a backup.

5/23 - Sent my LOCI to FAMU. I feel stumped as to why I have to beg them to accept me. I hate to think it's because I'm not a URM, but I can only wonder. I wish the schools had to tell you exactly why they waitlist/reject/hold us.

Hahaha, thanks for the nice comment. I'd assume that they probably figured that I wasn't really committed to their respective states (KY and MS). Either that or my GPA scared them off. Good luck on South Carolina/getting into an SEC school!!

Yeah, I sent them a LOCI via e-mail anyways (a pdf that I made), I figured it's kind of like W&M's process where they just keep you in limbo until they've filled out their class and they're sure that they have an incoming class with a few seats that they can fill with motivated candidates. Thanks for the encouragement, everybody gets all psyched up about the numbers aspect of the game, people forget that YHS all have rejected perfect 180/4.0's before just because they are not well rounded.

Hey- Miami notified me of a waitlist via e-mail. About a month ago, they sent me an e-mail telling me to check my account online for Miami. When I logged in, there was some type of letter that basically said that my credentials put me in a category where I would be re-considered prior to April 30, which is basically a waitlist.

Hey! Decent chance I'd attend FIU, FAMU amd FIU are two of my top choices after CUNY. I want to go to a cheaper public interest school. Congrats on your acceptances and $$ so far, I'm sure you'll be getting a lot more!

Hi, I received an email with a CANE ID from Miami about a week and a half afer I applied (I think I may have also received an email telling me that they had my application but that they were waiting on the paper version for it to be complete). There was no status checker or anything else. After they gave me the CANE ID the next email I received told me to log on to their system because there was an important message waiting. When I logged on a congratulations message automaticallly popped up.

Hey, congrats on you're acceptances! I have similar numbers and was wondering when you were accepted at Barry, did the status checker show "Seat Deposit" at the bottom before the actual status changed? I know I'm overanalyzing but I'm sure most on this board can relate to the anxious feeling!

Yeah I know what you mean...:/ I'm not expecting great news, but oh well. Btw-we've been admitted into some of the same schools, Barry and Florida Coastal, plus Nova on the AAMPLE (I'm thinking that's what your "special app" means?). May I ask why you ranked Florida Coastal over Barry/where are you leaning, etc? Feel free to message me if you would rather talk via email. We could end up being classmates...

  • Wednesday, March 09 2011 at 06:02 AM

Nope. I've been complete longer than anyone else on this site (per the applicants tab) and I've heard nothing. At this point they are serious risking using a solid student due to their ineffectiveness to manage applications. I'm seriously wondering if this is how I could expect to be treated during my education there. I guess we'll wait and see...Is that you top choice as of now?

- iLiftHeavyWeights
  • Also on FAMU...
  • Wednesday, March 09 2011 at 06:06 AM

I figured I'd ask because it looks like we may have similar concerns with FAMU (cost vs other schools, etc). I notice that you're white as well, does this concern you at all with being considered a minority on campus? I honestly have to ask because it has crossed my mind. I feel as adults we should be able to discuss such issues/concerns without people screaming race, etc. Good to hear from you, heck-we may end up being in the same classes...

  • LOL at FAMU
  • Thursday, March 10 2011 at 04:27 PM

I just busted out laughing when I read your "I don't want to get raped" comment. ;p I wouldn't worry too much there. LOL But on anoter note, they actually just sent me an email telling me I was on hold and will be rereviewed for "SPRING SEMESTER"! LOL that's comical. I don't think I'm all great and all but I've gotten into some better schools than FAMU and definetely didn't expect that. They can keep their spot, because tomorrow I'm removing myself from consideration. I'm visiting Barry and will tell you how that goes. Heck-we may be classmates. Don't worry, I won't let you get raped ;p

Just curious...Why would you take Florida Coastal over Barry? If you look at the charts, Florida Coastal has been way more free with their acceptances, and plus I don't know about you but I've been getting calls and emails about housing which I find weird. Your time seems the same as mine, are you a Bull too?

Have you seen the school? It's absolutely beautiful! The campus is gorgeous and everyone is SO friendly. With that said, it is VERY regional and from speaking with current students, the degree really will get you a job in Connecticut but it is nearly impossible elsewhere. Just thought you'd appreciate a heads-up from someone who has seen the school, spoken with administration and conversed with current students.

Nothing yet... I e-mailed inquiring as to what's taking so long. The response was basically that all decisions are made before the end of June. LOL. Nothing like taking the cake for being the slowest EVER! I'm actually thinking about doing the whole transfer thing also. I really want Seton Hall - by that point, I'll have two graduate certificates done through their law school plus some kick ass 1L grades (hopefully). I don't know how tough it is to transfer it, but really I loved the school and the coursework in health law is second to none in my eyes. What are you thinking of doing for 1L?

No work during 1L for me... I really want Seton Hall and am thinking of trying to transfer in. I'm thinking of doing 1L at Touro and then transferring.

- 10n10crossed
  • Monday, March 21 2011 at 03:03 AM

I might... but CUNY is in a huge transitional period right now and I can't see myself being happy there. I think I'd be afraid of not getting accepted as a transfer and then being 'stuck' at CUNY. CUNY makes decisions until mid-June which is annoying... I guess I actually probably would for cost-effectiveness, bust my butt and put in a couple of transfer apps even though I really want Seton Hall just to secure the fact that it's only 1L.

Definitely still apply to Southwestern, $12 is worth it and they have one of the best entertainment law programs in the nation if you're interested in that. My friend said that there was an extra statement they asked for in the application that I think I missed? About why we wanted to come to Southwestern specifically. I think that coupled with my criminal record did me in. Go for it! Also consider Golden Gate University Law, they have an excellent nationally recognized public interest program, fairly easy to get admitted and relatively low tuition costs.

That sucks, is your Barry deposit due soon? And I'm not sure if I'd pay sticker for Southwestern. I'm going to ask them again to see if they'll help me out, but we'll see. Also, I'm supposed to interview for SCALE, so if I do that it would probably be a little cheaper...
