Since I just went through the cycle and our numbers are very close I'll shed some insight on what schools you can expect to be accepted, waitlisted and rejected. First what I think will be "definite" acceptances: Penn State, Hofstra, Suffolk, Syracuse. Most Likely waitlisted at: Nova, Temple, Drexel, George Mason, Seton Hall, Rutgers. I think you will get off the wait list at Seton Hall the others will be a stretch of what you can do on your own. Mason, Rutgers, and Temple I would label as the most difficult for you to get into. Good luck and if you have any questions I'll be glad to help out.
Hey, just curious but how did you apply to Dickinson already? I tried doing the apps but it won't let me submit it on LSAC until 10/1. just curious... Goodluck too, we seem to be applying to quite a few of the same schools
Good deal, AIM is billt568. Just applied to Northeastern, 25% is 155, so with your GPA you might want to consider it...Co-OP program and pass-fail kinda rocks, and you get huge internship opportunities
Hey, I actually was accepted last year and had deferred. I honestly forgot that I had even done that. Right now, it is where I will be heading because of the large government internship possibilities, as well as the fact that it is a Tier 3 school. If you have any other questions you could shoot me a message on facebook, I generally dont check this. Best of luck to you!
Anything from Suffolk yet...they're automatics went out. We should be soon as our apps were earlier than most of those. Sorry for my peskiness, I'm just anxious to get one acceptance under my belt before the rejections start rolling in. Ha.
Well at Rutgers, for example, I just called to check if I was complete saying, "I recieved an e-mail saying that I was complete, and I wanted to ensure that included my dean's certification."
Usually that prompts the obvious yes and to give me reassurance they will say, "You are currently with the committe" or something like that. I'm a very audio-learner, so for me it's piece of mind to hear an actual human being tell me everything is in.
At some schools you can tell they find this really annoying, and then at other places like DePaul they actually encourage checking in occasionally via a 1-800 number. I spent a lot of money on applications, so the way I look at it, even if it makes some admissions officer a little angry, it's my perogative.
Schools like DePaul and UC have been really, really great about it and it's actually help me get on a first name basis, and a face to name basis with some people in UC's office.
So, if you want to call, just ask something intelligent besides, "When will you notify me?" Everyone hates that question.
Cool. It makes it more suspenseful but I think it helps me to get some news over no news, even if it is just that I'm in committee. I like to know about when I can start rushing out of work to get to my mail box. Weee!
I'm rooting for you.
Hope you seriously consider applying to University of Buffalo Law School. It is higher rated that Penn State, Albany, Hofstra, Ohio Northern, Syracuse, Widener, and Drexel. I am a first year student at UB and all my profs are IVY League Law Grads...and my Criminal Law Prof wrote the text !
I hear ya. Especially the part about working so hard to get them in early. I work two jobs nad was moving from Columbus to Cincinnati during that first week of September, so it was hell getting them in, but I did it. Doesn't seem to be paying off now. Not to sound entitled or whatever since I'm obviously not the most statistically qualified candidate out there, I just hate the whole myth of meritocracy. It definitely applies to the idea that these schools stress to us over and over the earlier we apply the better. In my experience that has been the truth about 10 percent of the time. And it definitely doesn't mean we'll hear back any sooner. Blah.
Your numbers line up well for University at Buffalo Law School and I would urge you to consider applying there. I am a first year student and all my profs have Ivy League credentials (2 from Harvard Law, 1 from Cornell Law and 1 from Yale Law--that prof wrote the Criminal Law text we're using !)
It is a strong Tier 2 school...much higher rated that Penn State, Syracuse, Albany, Hofstra, Suffolk, etc.
Wish you the best in your applications !
You should apply to U Pitt. They were really prompt in responding, and it's a 1st tier school. Plus you're from philadelphia, it's not so far away. Just a suggestion. Good luck with your apps. I'm sure you'll hear back from someone soon.
I had numbers similar to yours last time I applied, and I also applied to many of the same schools.
I wouldn't worry too much; you'll probably get into places like Widener, Albany, and Ohio Northern.
Temple and some of the others, however, are going to be tough. I'll be pulling for you to get into someplace soon, though! :0) .
yo, i am freaking out about all the catholic e-mails (acceptances). after the vague financial aid e-mail the other day the suspense is killing me.
I am ill with anxiety. Where is my E-mail?
I like it because of the location, great scholarship, and the potential of the school. It seems like it is going to rise up the rankings quickly. That's great to hear that you went there! What is the campus like? The surrounding area? Do you think you might go there for law school?
Hey, thanks! Yeah, hopefully there are more to come. And for you too!
Suffolk, Villanova, and Rutgers Newark are the ones we have left in common. Hopefully they'll at be big fat Yes(s) with dollar amounts attached! : )
for the congrats. It has definitely been my most exciting acceptance so far! It came in the mail today, but the postmark is from a week ago. The acceptance letter came in a really nice red folder inside of a big white envelope. Good luck! :)
Sorry, just looking at your message a while ago about my thoughts on where you should go.
Looking at your choices I think it depends on the location. The schools seem relatively comparable. In all honesty, I know I wouldn't be able to handle the Albany weather.
An update on Drexel, several 2L's secured summer associate positions at big firms. The co-ops seem to be very beneficial and enjoyable for them and more employers are requesting to be on the co-op list.
I know a few people who will be working at the same firm that they co-op'd for during the summer as a paid position.
As long as the meeting is not cancelled due to weather we are expecting to see accreditation by Feb, so keep a look out. By the way, our updated numbers were something like 3.4/158, which is almost in line w/ Temple and Nova.
Catholic is a beautiful school in a nice area, Albany is well ranked (both seem to be very regional though)
Widener- I really don't know much about. I believe their health law program is highly regarded in the community though.
Hi L:
I see that you've decided to go to Drexel, and I've pretty much decided to go there as well. If you're interested, we should chat...I'm interested to hear why you chose Drexel, etc...
L:
Too funny! We probably did see each other that day. Did you put your deposit down that day? I saw a few other future students with sweatshirts!
Anyhow, thanks for telling me why you chose Drexel.
I guess I'll have to make my "real" decision soon, even though I'm pretty much sure what I will pick.
What area of law are you interested in at this point?
~Nicole

- HopefulApplicantThanks! They emailed me first, and said that I will receive the official acceptance letter in the mail in about 10 days.
- bajwaHey, good luck with the admissions process. I have similar #'s so I'm pulling for you!
- samsdeadfishclubLast cycle Villanova was criminally slow. I saw somebody got a decision yesterday. I hope we'll be sooner rather than later.
