I noticed that you and I applied to several of the same schools. Good luck this cycle, you have a very good GPA and your LSAT certainly isn't bad! I'm sure you will get into a lot of those schools.

You might want to consider applying there too, its in a pretty boring area (Ohio), but its a free application and its a relatively well ranked school.

Most likely. From what I understand, this is pretty much what most schools do. I just don't like the fact that I probably will not know definitively until late spring!

Hey, thanks for the words of encouragement. Imma try not to stress and let the chips fall where they may. I LOVE ATLANTA! ive been there a lot in the past couple of years here, and I am looking into John Marshall. The only problem I have with the school, is that they don't really pass out any money at all. I was able to avoid loans completely for undergrad, I really want to limit them as much as possible for law school. MERRY CHRISTMAS!!

Heard anything from GSU yet? I haven't and was wondering if you know when the admissions committee is meeting.....John Marshall is meeting on 1/16 and will send out decisions 2-3 weeks after that. Let me know if you know anything about GSU...good luck! Thanks

I see you were accepted to Stetson today, too. Oh, and if you would like to email you I'd be happy to tell you what I know about Florida Coastal. I did quite a bit of research about the school. Congrats and good luck the rest of the cycle. I haven't heard squat from UF yet, but I'm still hopeful. I'm a splitter so I was told to expect the unexpected. Eek!

I just saw your question regarding FCSL. I would probably go to Stetson over FCSL however, if they have given you a large scholarship and you have an interest in living in Jacksonville it may be worth considering. I am originally from Jacksonville and have found that the school actually has pretty good placement within the city, I don't know about how well it does in other cities though. One interesting note - FCSL actually has a higher bar passage rate than every school in Florida except for UF...

  • Tuesday, January 22 2008 at 05:45 AM

Have you thought about Mercer? It seems like they have some pretty decent job prospects and the bar passage rate is above 90%. They say about 80 employers make on campus visits including the likes of Alston and Bird and King and Spalding. You may want to check it out - it is 80 miles away but it is a thought. I live in Midtown Atlanta and it is a consideration for me. Good Luck!

In complete agreement w/mgkoefod. If you can handle macon, i'd choose mercer over fcsl as well.

Go anywhere but Florida Coastal. It is a bad school (one of only a few for-profit law schools), and the grading curve might not allow you to keep your scholarship after the first year. Please do your research on it, as you have much better options.

Hey, so I finally was notified about my acceptance to Stetson. Funny thing is, I haven't received my acceptance letter. But I did get informaiton from the Fin Aid office congratulating me. I see that we are also waiting on GSU and went complete around the same time. I was wondering if you received any emails from them. I got two yesterday. Oh, and sorry about the FSU deferral. I'm still waiting on them as well, argh.

Hey sorry if I was a little harsh earlier about Florida Coastal, but I have heard only bad things about it. I must admit I don't know much about Denver or Seattle, but both are ranked in the top 100 and would give you good opportunities in large metropolitain areas. At DU you would be competing with Colorado grads, but you would have the upper hand of actually being located in Denver (whereas CU is in Boulder). At Seattle, you would have to compete with Washington grads, but again you would be in the city and be able to make connections easily. Wherever the cycle takes you, best of luck in making a decision!

Hey. GSU is definitely my number one, unless I managed to get into UGA or Tulane (but they are a stretch). Of my choices now, Seattle is my top choice; however, money will certainly come into play for me, so South Carolina is by no means out as an option (I will also have a SO and my 16 year old cat to move. She, the cat, may be happier w/a shorter drive! But, I won't let that stop me if I really want to go to SU.) Seattle's ASD is still up in the air for me though. I'd really like to visit before deposits are due, and Seattle's isn't until late May. (Or I at least want to visit before USC's $500 deposit is due (5/1) if I don't hear from some one else by then)

Hey, my top 2 are Denver and Seattle as well. I just spent a weekend in Seattle and got a chance to visit the campus and check out the city. The campus is great and the law school building is absolutely amazing. I also talked to Seattle Law students. If you have any questions let me know.
