Actually, my timing improved because I understood the LR better. I did have to practice a games section every couple of days to keep it from suffering.

For the congrats. I am thinking about applying to Harvard but can't decide. NYC is just too expensive (I use to like there), I hate New Haven :), and I am not sure of U Chicago. I can't decide on my top choice because too many factors play in. :)

I love BU and all of the NY schools, but i'm not going to rule out any place on my list until I visit. What about you, any preference?

May I ask why you plan on retaking? Is it because of money, or you want to get into better schools? Does Stetson normally give scholarship money immediately? If you want to talk about this via email, feel free!

I did use the LRB. But to be completely honest, I have an embarrassing reason that also affected my first score. Like, something I don't even talk about with my mom but I had to reveal to adcomms, lol. Anyway, you have plenty of time to improve your score. Get both of the bibles, completely go through them, spend an hour a day on it, and I'm positive you can get at least a 166 by June. I firmly believe the LSAT can be learned. Good luck!

Well your cycle isn't looking so bad!! I'm thinking of calling it a loss, too, but I haven't even heard from FSU yet so I think I have more reason to panic than you. How I prepared for the LSAT? I did it myself with the Powerscore Bibles and tons of practice tests. If you want specifics feel free to email me.

thanks for the comment. I didn't do much between my two tests, just a couple of random sections and one full-length practice test. My first score was way below my practice average; I'm not really sure what happened the first time. Good luck if you do decide to retake

w/ your retake. Most of my TM improvement was in LG, I started out missing up to 15 per section and when it was over I rarely missed any, so it can be done. And yep, I did go with Pam's grid system. It just clicked after awhile and I would recognize similar patterns between games. I'll PM you more info on LSD so I don't hog your comments...

I didn't really do anything too terribly different the third time around. I went through some more prep tests, read a lot, and practiced logic games extensively. It's probably nothing you wouldn't do. One thing to point out though: my humanities major requires me to do a lot of art historical reading. Try to lay hands on some art history books or articles (particularly those dealing with contextual or formal analysis) and read 'em. Evaluate the author's arguments as you go along, and imagine each paragraph as an LR stem. This approach will help with RC too. I also did a little bit of review the night before the LSAT: just a logic game or two, an RC passage, and a few LR questions. Not a full section's worth of anything, but enough to warm up my brain and boost my confidence. All of that stuff on getting a good night's sleep the night before is important too. It sounds trite, but it makes a big difference.

I took Kaplan and my score went up from 161 to 165. Its worth the investment if for no other reason than it forces you to study. Break a leg with ur apps!

The big difference for me was studying. The first time I didn't study (I figured the LSAT was going to be more or less like the SAT). The second time I took a Kaplan course, and studied about an hour and a half a day for two months. My experience was that the games can be learned (I spent the most time here), while I found that consistent practice cut down on my mental errors in the LR section. I didn't improve in Reading Comprehension at all. In any case, I'm not sure you really need to worry about all of this though. I say just go to Tulane (I went there for undergrad) or take the money at Miami (unless you are dead-set on another goal). Both are good schools that are among the best in their regions (not to mention nice places to live).

Find a period/artist you like and read stuff about it/him/her. I do a lot of work with the art of the 15th and 16th century Netherlands and Germany personally. jstor.org tends to be a good source of articles, but anything in just about any art history journal will do. The Art Bulletin and Burlington Magazine (which are well-represented on jstor) run high-quality articles of varying lengths. You might just want to take a look at the "front matter" of these journals (letters to the editor and whatnot) for working LR/RC. If you need to work games though, I'd recommend just practicing actual LSAT games. Kaplan's 180 book has some good games to practice as well.

(unless you are here too) UF is one of my top picks, so unless I get some scholarship $, there is a good chance I'll be staying in Gville. Do you think UF would throw any scholarships to ppl in the 5.6-5.7 index range? probably not huh... :/

Wanted to say thank you; it's difficult (putting it mildly) having to play not only the waiting game, but also having to take the shotgun-blast-approach hoping that maybe some school out there will give me a chance. Thank you, for your words of encouragement. And heartfelt congratulations on getting in at your schools of choice. Out of curiosity, why did _you_ apply to Tulane? I'm mostly interested in their clinic, and only secondarily in their international exchange...though the neighborhood isn't exactly terrible, either.

Hi. I am biased since I did my master's at FSU, but I think it was a great town. I'm from Gainesville, so I can compare the two, though I never went to UF, so I can't compare campuses or anything. I'm still waiting to hear from UT and UF, but I still can't make a decision. Congrats on your acceptances!

Thanks for the kind words about my charge being dropped. It's definitely been a weight lifted off of me (albeit at a significant financial cost). Because of the UF WL, Tulane is looking like my destination. Chicago-Kent would probably have to come at me with a full ride for me to consider them at this point.

Also, where are you leaning towards? Gainesville's a great place, I'm just a little burnt out after four years here. Tulane will be a hell of a lot of fun.

...I am going to UCONN because it is ABSOLUTELY FREE for me and I have a place there already so it is free room/board too. I know U of A is ranked higher but I find it very difficult to turn down free law school that is located right in the area that I want to practice (CT/MA/RI)! YOU ARE ON A ROLL!!!!
