Additional info & updates

I'm applying to a ton of schools! If I get a fee waiver I don't see the harm in spending $12 bucks on an application that has the potential to change my life. From previous experience I know it isn't always about your numbers. It's whatever God has in store for you! Wishing everyone a fabulous cycle :)

*Although I've already sent in my applications, I will be retaking the LSAT in December. Applications were sent early in order to obtain a good position in line for review.

November 1 - Scores were released last Friday night, and I woke up to numerous emails from schools granting me merit based fee waivers based from my LSAT score and GPA. I'm sure it probably helped that I'm an underrepresented minority , and that most schools are looking for diversity :)

Fee Waivers from:
-George Washington
-Washington University in St. Louis
-Boston University
-Loyola Law School
-University of Virginia
-Indiana University Bloomington

November 2 - Received emails for fee waivers from:
-Michigan State (with $55,000 scholarship that I qualify for)
- University of St. Thomas
-Suffolk University

November 4- At this point I'm receiving so many fee waiver emails everyday that its by far too many to list...we'll see which ones I'll actually apply to as a safe school

November 26- I interviewed for Northwestern Law & Vanderbilt Law last week. Hopefully that makes a difference in my admission decision since they both went exceptionally well :)

December 1 - I've been studying like a mad woman for my next LSAT. I can already tell it's paying off by seeing 5-6pt increases on my practice exams....hopefully I can reach the 160 threshold on test day :)

December 7- I've been getting a 158-159 on my practice LSATs, I have hope that I can actually cross the 160 threshold by Saturday :)

January 2 - Word on the street is that December LSAT scores will be released tomorrow sometime....I hope they're right because my patience is starting to diminish.....I HAVE to know what i got grrrrr.....After speaking to my father, I've also decided to apply to Howard law school...I didn't originally want to attend two HBCU's but the black network opportunities are crazy!

January 6- BUMMMMMMED....received the exact SAME LSAT score on the December test despite my studying....I refuse to take it again....so lets see where the Lord takes me

January 19- ****First law school acceptance!! ayeee! Makes you feel good knowing that you've gotten in "somewhere" :) I hope the rest of my cycle is EXACTLY like this...acceptance, acceptance, acceptance!

January21- HORRIBLE day...three rejections....oh well...those schools clearly weren't in the Lord's master plan for me...lets see what he has in store :)

Hey there! Congrats on the fee waivers, I got quite a few too but that was by virtue of e-mail requests. Is this your first time applying or is this your second go round? If so how did you do last cycle, and which HBCU did you attend? Sorry I know alot of questions! Thanks and good luck!

Congrats on having the opportunity to interview! I wish all schools interviewed prospective students because I think it probably makes a big difference meeting someone in person. I hope that they went well for you and that you get big fat envelopes in the mail :)

Thanks so much. I am actually not concerned about being Waitlisted at this point. It's kind of their loss. I'm mainly waiting to hear back from Case and if I get in I will definitely have a hard choice on my hands.

Thanks for your response and advice! I really appreciate it. Btw, I am always RAVING about Spelman, I visited once and was so impressed with the character and poise of those Spelman girls. It seemed like such a great environment, and I know the faculty is bomb as well. I went to Georgetown but if I hadnt gone there I would definitely have considered going to Spelman. Absolutely charming. Thanks again hon, and best of luck to ya :)

Hi numbers buddy. Good luck on the cycle! I haven't heard from anyone yet either. Are you wigging out as much as me?

Thanks!!

You've got a good list of schools. I'll be keeping up with your cycle to see how things are going. Best of luck!!

when you open up your online status checker for Umaryland, does it give you a box in the lower left saying if you paid your first seat deposit and your second seat deposit?

Thanks - Good luck to you!

Not sure what my first choice is now, Illinois and Wash and Lee are both incredibly attractive...it's been great so far so we will see what happens! Good luck to you too - glad your interviews went well!

Hah yeah got to love the HBCUs. It's almost a given but the benefits always outweigh the drawbacks. I'm not sure which CLEO program I'm going to, they haven't let me know. On one end I kind of want to request San Diego so I can get it poppn a bit while studying :) lol But Iowa would definitely allow me to be more focused. So I'll probably just let God decide on this one. As far as schools, I'm holding out for UNC. Otherwise, It's looking like Illinois for me.

Good Luck!

I like your ambition in your college choices. It will payoff! I bet you get into at least 4 more schools. Good luck!

howard is definitely the top choice as of now. i'm so excited! the only thing that is a slight bummer is the fact that i'll most likely commute everyday since i live outside of dc. but maybe we'll be classmates!

Thursday, November 11 2010 at 07:00 PM

Congrats!!! We'll be classmates in the Fall. If you want to email me, you can at christianjoymaiden@yahoo.com.
