Additional info & updates

I was formally NIkki905 in previous cycle. I decided to apply again and retake the LSAT for a third and final time in May 2010.

My username NylaB52 is a combination of a Lion King character and Boeing B-52 Stratofortress.

Summer 2010:
- Worked on my Personal Statement (This essay beats my first PS)
- Debated on getting new LORS (I already have a few from the previous cycle) from a professional perspective.
- Atlas/Manhattan LSAT workbook helped me on the logical reasoning (LR) section a great deal. I took a Testmasters class and a tutor in early 2009 but it was nearly as effective as Atlas on the LR section

10/10: October LSAT I am hoping my practice tests (pt) numbers 157-163 happen officially today :)

10/30: My LSAT score improved but fell short of my goal/pt Nonetheless I am still grateful ... Thanking GOD :)

11/1: Reapplied to Cornell a major reach (T-14) but I have potential

11/3: Getting my apps in order to send out. Plus I am excited about my free apps

11/6: Sent out the majority of my apps today. A mix of mostly reaches and safeties. I'll finish my apps up on Monday. Time for a break Megamind or Due Date are whats up next . . .

11/7: Good things happen to those who wait . . . I am very impatient and impulsive individual

11/9: *********** THE WAITING GAME BEGINS************
Going through the apps process was easier, retaking the LSAT for a third time when the test is meant to be taken once was bearable, writing new essays I can handle that, But this part of the cycle is the hardest, not knowing whats going to happen next... It feels like your in a dark enclosed roller-coaster for months with sudden drops (rejections) sharp turns (wait-lists) or smooth cruising (acceptances) its positively dreadful and it won't be easier waiting the second time around.

11/16: LSN is addictive but it helps with the waiting period. I have not been able to sign in for days it was rough. I still feel like I am sitting on pins and needles. (just a few more months)
I decided to apply to more law schools . . . just two for now. I am still not complete at American U, Cornell, Boston Univ, Northwestern, and MSU. I guess there is an overload of apps pouring in to sort and review.

11/17: Complete at MSU and American U :) I sent in two more apps yesterday to W&L and U of Wisconsin- Madison (UWM). . . I still can't update the dates of pending apps (Update 12/2 if you type the numbers in as opposed to selecting the date then it doesn't affect the SENT column)

11/18: Complete at Boston U and W&L just three more completions to go. Almost all the law schools have Applicant Status Online (ASO) and I am under review at a few:

W&L 11/18
PSU 11/16
Cardozo 11/8

Also I am "Decision Pending" at Ave Maria 11/8

I hope to hear some wonderful news by Christmas. Jolly St. Nick could not surpass of my joy of receiving a big envelope.

Although my numbers were so much higher when I graduated high school, which is why I ended up in a USNWR Top 100 (#60) for undergrad. I hoping to go Top 100 again :)

11/23: I'm bored . . . So I decided to rank my schools by choice 1 through 4 respectably granted I wouldn't mind attending any of the schools I applied to . . . Its almost Thanksgiving Day my favorite holiday gobble gobble

12/2: UWM and Cornell University are finally complete. Northwestern is still not complete because of my upcoming off-campus interview. (I want that to go well wink wink)

UWM 12/1

12/3: I was DENIED at W&L . . . I am not going to lie it stung me and put a gray overcast on my evening last night (I know I don't meet W&L margins but after a terrible cycle last year I most definitely do not want to repeat that AGAIN) I am happy that it was swift and not drawn out for months. :)

I decided to apply to even more law schools Vermont, Hofsta U, and Catholic U I recently received merit-fee waivers so why the hell not?. . .I probably should apply to more schools on my fee waiver list but honestly I don't see myself going to those law schools if admitted so why waste my time filling out the apps.

Fordham 12/2 (Changed to application complete 12/2 but its was completed by 11/08) ?

12/5: I sent out three more apps today which brings my total to a whopping 21 law schools. I just need to write an essay for Vermont. I swear that will be my last law school app. The waiting game continues

12/7: Waiting on Hofstra, Vermont, and Northwestern to go complete. GW, BU, and Norte Dame don't have a status checker but I should be under review by now its been 4 weeks . I know those law schools are a long shot but I would love to attend Norte Dame next year.

Cornell 12/7

12/8: Praise our heavenly father . . . Wicked excited its been a long time coming! I was admitted into Ave Maria via email/ status checker with $$$ I get the admission packet soon. Truthfully was not expecting a scholly but any admission office that wants to give me funds to take some of the load off, Thanks in advance! MSU deferred me till February so I should be sending them some essays soon. OMG I got into American U via email/status checker. I nearly cried at work but you one must remain professional at all times. Christmas definitely started early this year YAY :)

12/13: Rejected from George Mason U via email

12/15: Rejected from Fordham U via status checker

12/16: Rejected from Cornell via email & Wait-listed at Hofstra via status checker

Its been a Tough week 3 DENIED plus 1 WAIT-LIST in 1 WEEK Good news I am finally complete at Northwestern so I am keeping my fingers crossed

I am still keeping the faith. I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me.

I am finally done with my Christmas shopping! I love wrapping gifts and making cookies. I am fully in the holiday spirit :)

12/29: I was rejected from GW Law yesterday via e-mail.

I am happy this year is over . . . my life has been a spinning in different directions all year. Therefore its great knowing that I have a great option in D.C. next year.

Top 3 in 2010:
Vuvuzela , Airplanes by B.O.B. and the Lame duck session.

Can we pretend that airplanes
In the night sky
Are like shooting stars
I could really use a wish right now (wish right now, wish right now)

1/8: Its been awhile since I've logged in . . . Happy New Year :)
Lets hope since I haven't gotten any news since GW Law that no news is good news.

Vermont 12/21
Brooklyn 1/4

I am waiting on only certain law schools decisions before I make my final choice so the wait continues (I pray this is over before the month of March)

1/14: Rejected from University of Norte Dame via mail dated 1/11/2011 I guess I won't have an opportunity to participate in the Concannon Program for International Law.

Rejected from Penn State Law too via e-mail dated 1/14/2011

1/18: I received my scholarship packet from Ave Maria today dated 12/10/2010 (postal service?) It stipulates that I have maintain a certain GPA to receive $25,000 all three years. :)

1/19: Rejected from UW Madison via e-mail dated 1/19/2011 . . . . . . . . . . . I am still holding on to God :)

1/21: Rejected from Northeastern via e-mail dated 1/21/2011
I find it odd that I called yesterday (Since my app was complete in early Nov. and according to lsn people have gotten back responses by now) and then I get a response today. weird
Not a big fan of the huskies only applied because of the fee waiver and no I will not submit a transfer app next year. (side eye)
I sound like a sore loser but I've met to many catty, arrogant, bitches from that institution over the years it just disgusts me. Plus Northeastern U ain't got noting over my undergrad.
(I did not apply EA to Northeastern)

1/24: Rejected from Northwestern via e-mail dated 1/24/2011
I really wanted to attend Northwestern Law it was a major reach for moi but definitely one of my top choices. So long Chicago :(

The wait continues . . .

1/31: Rejected from Cardozo-Yeshiva via mail today dated 1/27/2011
I did initially rank this law school as a top choice but the NYC location was a prime factor at the time. However today its whatever I'll be okay :)

Basically I am waiting for BU Law which I think would a bloody miracle but on a positive note miracles do happen! I might as well just withdraw from the other law schools that are still pending.

2/14: Its Valentine Day's

I got another acceptance (happy dance) from Vermont Law School via e-mail dated 2/11

I am still keeping the faith

Today I got a rejection letter from MSU dated 2/10. I was deferred in December and I never sent the additional info MSU requested such as a LOCI and etc.

Still waiting on BU and I will be visiting American in a few weeks.

2/19: Rejected from Catholic U via mail dated 2/16

3/2: Its March 2nd 2011 and my cycle is STILL not over. I predicted otherwise, but its okay.

I guess I have no hometown option once again. Tear
BU sent me a decision dated 2/18 telling me to transfer in next year if I have stellar performance during my 1L year ELSEWHERE. Boo

I will have a stellar performance during my 1L year and I will put ALL my effort to be at the top of class even if it means sleepless nights & studying around the clock as I said before I can do all things through Christ. However, I have no desire to transfer ANYWHERE once I begin law school.

Still waiting on RWU, Brooklyn, and U of the Pacific. I excited for my visit to American in a couple weeks. :)

3/10: I got wait-listed at U of the Pacific Law via e-mail.

3/31: I visited American a few weeks back and its a great law school, wonderful location that offers ample opportunities for a go-getter like myself. I sat in on a course and followed it throughout.
It was just WONDERFUL!!!

Now three weeks into October I may be rolling my eyes and be wondering Really, what did I get myself into?

I withdrew from Ave Maria and Vermont earlier in the month. I can't believe I turned down a scholly worth $75K. I was wait-listed at Brooklyn Law via e-mail on 3/23. I guess I still waiting on RWU.

So maybe this cycle will be done by Easter
Who Knows???

4/23: My cycle is finally over . . . Woo hoo
As of April 13 when I got an e-mail from Roger Williams telling me that I have been wait-listed.
I was wait-listed at four law schools thats a lot. Granted I did apply to over 20 schools.
I will be withdrawing drawing from those law schools shortly.

Final tidbits:
I love LSN its great I can speak freely on how gut-wrenching
applying to law school was and how it sucked that it was my second time around. Although, always remember to Never give up and if you want something go out there and get it. Moreover, God is in control and one never knows what God's plan has in store for you. I have a good feeling about American and I know I have to be on my p's and q's from day one!!!

I have to give credit where it's due. I called the Law School Expect during both law schools application cycles and I am one of the many future 1L that she has given free guidance and advice.

LSAT prep book?
Monday, June 14 2010 at 08:00 PM

Hey, just a question for you regarding your reference to an "Atlas/Manhattan LSAT workbook" ...I tried googling this and found various workbooks, etc so wasn't exactly sure which one you were eluding to? Could you provide me any more details as to author, title, what it looks like, etc? Thinking about retaking the test again...possibly! Thank you, and good luck!!

Sunday, October 24 2010 at 08:00 PM

Thanks for the encouragement!! Good luck with your cycle! Keeping my fingers crossed for you...

W&L
Monday, October 18 2010 at 08:00 PM

I got dinged by W&L as well. I had no doubt in my mind that I would be rejected but somehow the rejection really put things in perspective. Now I'm thinking of submitting LOCIs and an LSAT addendum to the schools that have waitlisted me and hoping for the best.

Which Law School Predictor do you use?

Your Schools
Sunday, October 17 2010 at 08:00 PM

Why don't/didn't you apply PT to some of your LSP "denies"? I'm sure you would have a stronger shot and could then transfer into the day programs after 1L.

Friday, November 12 2010 at 07:00 PM

Hi! I might consider taking the lsat a third time too. Good luck this cycle. Just curious, what were your scores the other 2 times? If you show an upward trend, that shows the law school that you are determined and have perseverence.

Hey, I'm glad to see someone else comparing reality to the predictor websites. I'm doing the same thing with both lawschoolpredictor and the LSAC school search thing. So far I haven't heard anything back from any schools, but looks like so far LSP has been fairly accurate for you!
