*My date of decision is when I receive the letter, not when it is typed.

*A Note Regarding all my Fee Waivers...

Many schools offer application fee waiver if you apply before a certain date, such as January.
If you have a LSAC or LSAT fee waiver, many schools will waive their fee as well, sometimes it is automatic from applying directly through LSAC, other times, you have to print your fee waiver approval letter and send it to them.

I've taken a lot of time to try and find as many schools as possible that offer some sort of waiver. With my scores being so low, I'm expecting a lot of rejections, so I'm applying to as many as possible with the hopes that someone will take me aside from Cooley.

Each time I find a new waiver, I apply... What can it hurt, right?

Besides, I plan on putting myself in loads of debt by going to law school, with a return education. My goal is to become an Assistant State/District Attorney, and eventually become THE State/District Attorney. So if I can get a break in application fees, I'll take it! :)

Okay, so I might as well start posting for each school... I'll update as I look back on my records...

AMERICAN
Application Fee Waiver
The Washington College of Law waives the application fee only for applicants who were granted a recent LSAT or LSDAS fee waiver by the Law School Admission Council (LSAC). Applicants who received such a fee waiver will have their application fee automatically waived when they apply on-line through the LSAC electronic application service.

FLORIDA INTERNATIONAL UNIVERSITY
I couldn't find any info about a fee waiver, but I figured I'd apply anyways. However, when I went to print the certification page, it had a fee waiver option on there, so I checked it off and printed my fee waiver approval letter.

UNIVERSITY OF CHICAGO
Fee is automatically waived if you have the LSAC fee waiver.

BAYLOR UNIVERISITY
Electronic application form -- $40.00 non-refundable application fee is waived.

UNIVERSITY OF BALTIMORE
Important information concerning application fee waivers

Applicants requesting a fee waiver must use the paper application. Submit a copy of your LSDAS/LSAT waiver with the application. Application fees are nonrefundable once they have been processed.

TEXAS WESLAYAN
Apply early and fee is waived...

UNIVERSIY OF ST. THOMAS - Minn
Apply by Dec. 31st and fee is waived...

UNIVERSITY OF WYMOMING
Fee Waiver. The fee may be waived in cases of extreme personal hardship. Applicants who feel unable to pay the fee should (1) complete the LSAC Fee Waiver Application, (2) transmit the application and required documents electronically through LSAC, (3) attach the completed Fee Waiver response and send the documents directly to the Office of Admissions.

NOVA
If you have a LSAC fee waiver, just print your fee waiver approval letter and send it with your certification page.

BARRY - Several ways....
Pell Grant Recipient - Print your award letter and send it to them.
LSAC Waiver - Print your fee waiver approval letter and send it.
Barry Alumni - If you knows someone that graduated from there, they can sign a waiver for you.
Barry graduate, if you went there, you can get your fee waived.
And, you can just go old fashioned and write them a letter explaining your need, they might waive it, might not.

CHAPMAN
You must submit a written statement outlining your request and financial circumstances. Please include the following documentation supporting your statement; 1) Last year's W-2 form, 2) A financial aid award letter specifying your need, 3) Last year's tax return, or this year's if you have it. Your request will be reviewed. If it is denied, you will be notified via e-mail.

If you have received a fee waiver via the Law School Admission Council (LSAC), your Chapman University School of Law application fee will automatically be waived when you apply electronically via our electronic application on LSAC%u2019s website.

If you have received a fee waiver from us via US mail, you must complete your application via the electronic application on LSAC%u2019s website, print it out and fax the application and the fee wavier to 888-289-5033. Your documents will be retrieved by the Law Admissions Office and you will receive an email verifying the receipt of your application once the information is entered into our database.

If I can answer any more questions, let me know. :)

My main interest in most of my schools is to be somewhere besides here. I'm ready for a life change, and with it comes a change in scenery. I'm hoping anyways. I've lived in Florida practically all my life, and I want to go somewhere else.

HOW DO YOU SEARCH FOR WAIVERS?
Well, searching for fee waivers can be pretty tedious... I pretty much go straight to the search engine first if available on the site and simply type in fee waiver. If nothing comes up, then it becomes difficult, I pretty much start clicking on any link that is possibly related, and hopefully come up with something, and if that still doesn't work, I e-mail the admissions dean and ask if one is available, and if not, request one... Hope this helps.

Re-Waitlisted at Ave Maria. I might have missed some updates or still haven't received some decisions yet. I think I'm down to being waitlisted at Barry, Ave Maria, and Dayton. And I believe, rejected everywhere else... :( I'm coming to the realization that I might not be going this time around.

Nothing else new to report, lots of rejections, unfortunately... Don't think I'll be going to law school this year, but that doesn't mean I won't be going...

1/28/09
Accepted to Nova's AAMPLE Program. Unfortunately, its my best offer yet. It's quite expensive and I'm not sure how I'm going to be able to afford it. Anybody have any suggestions? It's $3500 and financial aid won't cover it because it isn't degree seeking. Looks like a good program though. Get at least a 2.5 and neither class can be below a C.

Rec'd offer of PASO to Appalachian. Pre-Admission Summer Opportunity. Not so thin, but not thick white envelope. It's a month long course, the initial 3 weeks is done online, and the final week is done on campus. It's 1500. Seems affordable anyways... Not sure how to feel on this one, it seems like a good opportunity, but I was told not to take offers of any type to summer programs by one of my pre-law professors. I don't have to make a decision until April, so, we'll see what else gets offered.

Does anyone else have thoughts on summer programs?

Okay, I'm liking the prospect of Denver more and more... I looked at the past years acceptions and rejections, and it seems to be that all acceptions are sent before the new year, and rejections are made after. I know they've already made my decision, so I have hope.... Plus, they just seem really nice so far. They respond almost immediately when you e-mail them. Let's hope I get accepted there...

12/8/08
It's been two weeks since Denver wrote me a letter saying that they were sending me a decision... I'm just so anxious!!! Maybe I should write again? I went ahead and wrote them. They said the dean was called away unexpectedly out of the country and they were having a hard time getting letters signed and processing applications. :( Makes me a little less hopeful... Maybe they just weren't able to have my rejection letter signed? Guess I'll just have to wait another couple of weeks... They said it would be another week and my letter would be sent out...

11/26/08 - I wrote Denver and they confirmed that a decision was made, they said that the letter would be mailed within a week or so.. Keep in mind almost instantaneously I received a response to my e-mail. So, my thoughts.... If I did get rejected, they would have sent it already, don't they just put a quick insert here for rejections? So, I'm hopeful, maybe I might actually get waitlisted, or, even better, accepted.

11/23/08 - So, I decided to start trying to look at the sites that let you look at the application status. Not much luck there, guess I might as well wait for the snail mail version. I did find University of Denver made a decision, frustrating part, it just says, decision made... Ack! I just want to know!

11/17/08- Rec'd my first rejection letter today. It wasn't unexpected, I kind of botched up the application, I had a different school listed in my personal statement. Oops... Still disappointing though. :(

10/24/08-Even more unfortunate, I received the dreadful news that I did even worse on my LSAT this time around, I got a 144. I just can't seem to get control of that reading comprehension section...

10/22/08-Unfortunately, Michigan State does not offer any application fee waiver, I'd really like to apply, so I might just fork out the money for it.

10/20/08-After sending out numerous e-mails, I've found out my application is complete at Texas Weslayan, and University of Detroit Mercy considers applications on a rolling basis.

10/10/08-Received my acceptance letter to Thomas Cooley, though about considering a spring start. The fee was due on the 15th, I read more about the school on sites other than their own, and decided against this one. It appears that they pretty much accept every one to try and get you in the door to pay for your first year, then grade really tough and only the top few pass.

I keep finding more fee waivers, so I apply to more each day. I also started looking for any type of scholarships available and started applying to them as I find them.

Fee Waivers?
Monday, October 27 2008 at 08:00 PM

I haven't submitted any applications yet. Hopefully by the end of this week. When you apply through the LSAC website how does the whole fee waiver thing work? I noticed that some schools waive the application fees if you apply before a certain date

Good Luck!

We are applying to quite a few of the same schools. I was curious as to how you got a fee waiver for Barry and Nova? I saw that you explained that many schools offer them for applying earlier than a certain date, and I was wondering if that's the case with either of those? Thanks, and good luck! :)

Tuesday, April 15 2008 at 08:00 PM

We have the same frustrations with the LSAT! =) I have also grown up in FL all my life and would love to get out...but Nova is a good 2nd choice! Good Luck with your cycle!

Wow, you have so much information on your profile. I am in the same boat as you with my bad LSAT score. Hopefully I'll get a miracle and be accepted to one of the schools I applied to.

Good Luck!!

Hey I just wanted to say good luck with everything. I'm pretty much in the same boat as you are. I've been rejected so far by all the schools that sent me a decision letter. Hang in there. I'm sure we would both make excellent lawyers. Some law schools are just to dumb to see it

hey have u called the schools that still say incomplete? i would ask them what ur missing...

AAMPLE
Tuesday, November 25 2008 at 07:00 PM

Hi... My old roommate from college graduated with a JD from Nova. I asked her about AAMPLE and it turns out she did it too. She said it was difficult and she got a C in both courses. She recommended it if I wasnt accepted anywhere else and was serious about school. I am waiting on other apps. before deciding. I, too, think $3500 is a lot to pay without a guaranteed spot... Lets keep in touch re our thinking about this program. Best of luck on your other apps.
