I have been at this law school process for two years now. I remain optimistic and faithful that I will get in. My faith will not allow me to believe I made it this far to be turned around or away. I am currently employed at a major international law firm in Atlanta now and just waiting for an acceptance letter. If anyone has any suggestions please feel free to inform me. Worse case scenario is that I will have to reapply again but I know I will be in law school this fall. I know my abilities and if given the opportunity I know I can prove that an LSAT score doesnt define me or my abilities totally. I really dont wanna retake the LSAT but if I have to then I will. So im staying prayed up.

11/30/2008 - Application completed and sent for CLEO ( Council on Legal Education Opportunity).

12/08/2008 - Got a letter from John Marshall Law School in Chicago offering an interview for their Summer Assessment Program. The cost is $3000 to attend and lasts from the end of May to mid July. I will attend the interview opportunity because it's my first offer and I don't have any thing to loose.

3/28/2009
Alrighty more rejects have come in but Im still holding on. I emailed the Assistant Dean of Students at John Marshall who is charge of the SCALES Program just to get an update on the process, and I just got a " we will be in contact shortly" response nd that was at the beginning of Feburary. I emailed again two weeks ago and no response. Now here it is the end of March and still no word on the interview but CLEO wanted a copy of the letter of the conditional offer, so maybe they are working something out about attending either summer program. Thats my prayer..So if anyone knows about the SCALES Program at John Marshall in Chicago please inform me.

4/28/2009
Well after what looks like a month since my last update due to me being unable to LOG In on this website, I had the interview via phone with the Associate Dean of Students at John Marshall Chicago for the summer program week before last. Basically I have to find my own place to live plus fork over 3000 for the program. Yea it's a high price ticket but I figure if you really want to go to law school and you don't have any other options right now then it would be wise to take the offer. With that said, I am waiting to hear back on whether I'm in or out, I think I'm in just by the conversation in the interview. I called yesterday and one of the admissions reps informed me that they haven't met with the dean and don't know when notifications will begin, she advised to call back after lunch to see what kind of news they will have from the dean. This kinda bothers me being that according to the interview the program starts May 26, which is less than 30 days away. Is it me or do they not understand the difficulty of just moving and finding an apartment in a city where i know nobody, separating from my job and also finding money to fund this. I called again today and they still dont know when decisions will be made. So all I can do is wait.

Hey I\'m waitlisted for FAMU as well. how did you find out about being waitlisted for FAMU? I submitted additional documents. I\'ve been in this process for two years myself and I think I can relate and know exactly how you feel!!

Wow

Your attitude is AMAZING! I wish you the best of luck with your waitlist applications. You seem like a very determined and well-rounded person. I\'m sure you\'ll do great things.

Thanks and Good luck to you!

Thank you so much for your comment, I\'m glad I can be a source of encouragement for you and for others. You can\'t let this process beat you down and make you doubt yourself. This process was especially hard for me because all of my friends and black classmates that applied to law school had higher LSAT scores than I did. So I sometimes became really paranoid that I would be the lone one not going to law school. But it doesn\'t help to think like that. I just had to go with what I had, pray, and believe that the combination of things that I had to offer would get me somewhere...and it did. I would love to receive information about the firm that you work for, I hope to get a summer internship next summer. Sorry for the delayed response, I haven\'t checked my profile in a while.

Feel free to drop me an email and let me know how your cycle\'s going. Take care!

PBAP program
Saturday, November 01 2008 at 08:00 PM

the program was cool, albeit alot of hard work. They couldn't accept everybody though..but the taste of law that I experienced solidified my desire to become a lawyer. I found something that I truly love. Overall it was an awsome experience.

So lame that these schools aren't looking past a low score to see the kind of person that is applying! You have a lot of great experience and softs and I wish you the best. I'm a a fellow low LSATer and 2nd time applier as well, so I feel the pain. I hope we're both going to law school this fall!! Good luck!

Monday, December 01 2008 at 07:00 PM

How is this process going? Low LSATers can do it man! Let's do this! You have a good list here. Let's stay in touch.

Hope
Friday, March 28 2008 at 08:00 PM

Your words of encouragement give me hope. I wish you the best of luck. Hopefully we both get in somewhere....I'm praying!

Monday, October 15 2007 at 08:00 PM

Tuesday, October 14 2008 at 08:00 PM

Congrats on John Marshall! It's a start, right? Good luck with that!!! :)

Have you considered Northern Kentucky...also known as Chase?

Hope you get in
Sunday, October 12 2008 at 08:00 PM

Hey man, just hang in there. I hope you do get in. I really admire your persistence! Have you thought about applying to Southern Univ? I think you have a chance there. Also, try Indy-Indianapolis. They do have a summer admit program that you may qualify for if you don't get admitted unconditionally.

good luck

good luck with getting in. keep praying...that's what i'm doing also

Thanks

I had the same drive that you have about getting into law school. I would tell people(before I got my JMLS acceptance letter) I am going to keep knocking until someone let me in their law school. I too am not a good test taker so I felt the same way you did about the LSAT. Take JMLS up on their offer for their summer program. But the best thing in your favor is you are still waiting for 10+ schools to send you a decision and you should recieve them all before the summer and then you just may have plenty options to choose from. I be praying for you and watching you as well, but if you are coming to JMLS shoot me an email. O'course you can send me an email anything before then.

Good lucckkk!

Man, good luck! I'm in the same boat, but i really have no idea where to apply.

This Cycle
Friday, March 28 2008 at 08:00 PM

I have to admit-this cycle is extremely frustrating! I wish you the best of luck and think you will do very well! I also applied to CLEO! Good luck to us!!!

Good Luck
Friday, January 02 2009 at 07:00 PM

Looks like were kinda in the same boat. I've been at this for aprox 3 yrs and refuse to give up.

Hopeful
Friday, January 02 2009 at 07:00 PM

Thanks for the advice. Keep me posted on your interview. Wow the summer program cost $3000 sounds pretty steep. Do they offer payment plans or waivers????

Wednesday, October 08 2008 at 08:00 PM

Spring. I start classes Jan 20. How crazy is that when I intended to start school in Aug 09. I orignally applied to their fall 09 program and they call and ask if I wanted to be consider for Spring. Hey I didn't care, i just wanted to go to law school.

Keep the Faith
Thursday, September 04 2008 at 08:00 PM

This is my second year in the cycle and I learned to make an impression and make my name ring a bell to an admission's officer. I went to law school forum's and open houses; called schools and even bugged some people. I WILL NOT LOSE

We won't lose
Thursday, September 04 2008 at 08:00 PM

Thanx, I got the notice last month (thin big envelope). UDM's program costs $500, excluding room, board, and books. The letter says that after I take 2 summer classes, I get evaluated and if the faculty agrees: they offer me admission. I'm confident about other programs also: The Deans for Buffalo and Touro see me in their dreams and I got waitlisted last year at Cleve St, Dayton, and New York Law even though I applied late (April 08). Stay prayful and get in somewhere and kill em, you can always transfer up. Good Luck and God Bless.

CLEO
Friday, March 28 2008 at 08:00 PM

I applied to CLEO, as well. I applied back in like October. When will we hear back from them because the deadline is February. Do you know?

CLEO
Friday, March 28 2008 at 08:00 PM

Have you heard from them, yet? I still haven't heard anything. I'm crossing my fingers and praying. Good luck!

CLEO and Such
Friday, March 28 2008 at 08:00 PM

Yeah-I was denied from CLEO but, no biggie. They said they would also forward my information to the schools I had listed. So far, I was accepted to Widener's TAP program (which-they have a horrible grading curve...so, I'm scared) and Florida A&M but, I want to transfer and one of the schools I would like to transfer to said that they don't take students from provisionally accredited schools like FAMU....Wish me luck on getting full-time to Appalachian or somewhere else...Good Luck to you, too!

Widener's TAP
Friday, March 28 2008 at 08:00 PM

Apparently at Widener, you need to complete a month long program (which costs about $1,500). You complete so many classes and take some tests at the end of the month. Once you take the tests-you are evaluated and must have at least a 2.3 cumulative. If you have that-you are in! Why didn't you choose to apply there? Any good news to share-yet? I know you'll get in somewhere! I'm wishing you luck!

Tennessee
Monday, December 01 2008 at 07:00 PM

What's going on with Tennessee? They are taking their sweet time. I have been in review for a plethora of time now.

hang in there
Thursday, February 28 2008 at 07:00 PM

Hang in there. I've been in the application process for a similar amount of time, two years. I still believe both you and I can be accepted for very logical reasons.

Capital Law
Friday, March 28 2008 at 08:00 PM

I want you to stay optimistic because it can suck when you get denied-I know, firsthand. I was accepted to 4 law schools (2 with Conditional Programs) and I have decided on Capital Law! Even if I hear back from the other places-Capital offers the programs I am looking for-so, I'm really excited! I KNOW you'll get in somewhere because I applied to 26 law schools and I kept getting rejected. Finally, I heard some good news! Keep your chin up and I will be praying for you!

Hey ... I am from Chicago and I must say it is a great place to live. If you need some perspective on where you should live plz let me know. Also you should know that JM has a reputation for turning out superb litigators. When you start make sure you take Jackie Campbell she is the best law professor I have come across. Her classes are not easy but definitely worthwhile. One final not to consider Jackie graduated from John Marshall and she like us had trouble getting in and the only program that accepted her was JM in the conditional program. Fast forward to today Jackie earns well into the six figures.

I meant to say: One final note I said: One final not I guess this proves that I am not perfect yet; Just really, really close. LOL

Friday, April 03 2009 at 08:00 PM

Hi! I haven't even had my interview yet. I actually just got my letter inviting me to interview for the program a week ago. You say the program starts May 26? That means 21 days to get my interview, be accepted (or rejected) and MOVE 15 hours away to Chicago! I really want to do it, I just hope they let me know tomorrow. Did they say anything about loans for the summer program?

and...
Friday, April 03 2009 at 08:00 PM

I forgot to answer your other question. I don't know when my interview is yet.
