Additional info & updates

Yeah, I applied to a lot of schools. But that's because a got a lot of Fee Waivers, so I figured, what the hell?

11/21 - Recieved my first response today from MSU. I was pretty sure I'd get it, but it was still really great to read those words in the e-mail. I feel so great right now! A good start, let's hope the acceptances keep coming...

12/04 - Man, this waiting is brutal.

12/16 - Still brutal. Very.

12/22 - Aha, finally broke the tension! In a Cincinatti via phone call this morning. Perhaps now the decisions will come streaming in... and hopefully they will stay positive!

12/31 - Never mind that 'stay positive' part. Minnesota said 'No, thanks' to me. I kind of knew this one was coming, too, but it feels much different to actually see it. Oh well, I just applied to Iowa and from what I've seen, historically, I should have a good shot at getting in. Their library is pretty fantastic, too, a big draw for nerds such as myself.

So I'm 2 for 3, with a lot left to hear from in the new year. Happy holidays to everyone out there in LSN world. Here's to 2009 not sucking as bad as 2008 did, eh?

1/10 - Happy New Year all! I just got back from a vacation to Aspen, Colorado (which was amazing, by the way) and my e-mail says I've been waitlisted at UVA and UIUC. The UVA one is pretty cool, my numbers being what they are, the UIUC one also said I was on hold for a second review. So I'm not officially waitlisted, but it's similar. I'll have to keep that one in mind for LOCI. We'll see what the rest of this month holds. With a start in the most beautiful area I have ever seen, hopefully I can see some equally beautiful results back in the real world of law school applications.

1/21 - My first decision (not including WLs) of the new year... and it's a good one! In at Temple! I put my chances at good for this school, and it's great that I got in. In all honesty, it isn't one of my top picks, especially given their dreadfully low bar-pass rate, but anything could happen!

1/26 - Madison likes me, but only as a friend. WLed there today via snail mail. Balls. There goes one of my "I think I'll get in here" options, and one of the mid-west, perhaps even the best one. I'm going to send a LOCI, but I'm not holding out hope. If it wasn't meant to be, Madison, it wasn't meant to be...

2/06 - Big day today. Colorado, unfortunately, will have to remain a vacation destination, because I will not be attending school there. Snail mail letter came today. But given the cost of living and the unlikelyness that I would have gotten any money, this isn't too bad a result. I'll just enjoy it all the more when I get to go back.

Fast forward an hour...

Checked my e-mail... subject line: You have accepted to the University of Iowa..." Hell yeah! I've officially been accepted to a Top-30 Law School! I thought I had a good shot at admission, but knowing that I am in... wow... that's a great feeling. Look out MSU, you officially have some serious competition.

2/9 - Big day today. Out at BU (expected this one; no biggie); In at UConn (that's pretty awesome, haha!); and offered $8,500/year at Cincinatti. This certainly has made things interesting! Now I'm definitely going to go visit Cincinatti, but I'm not so sure about UConn. I might have to wait to see if I get an offer from them. Wow. Didn't think I'd have this many options to consider.

February has certainly been the eventful month! And it's not even been two weeks!

Update: Just checked my status checkers - officially WL at UIUC. Drat.

2/10 - This month just won't quit! Accepted at Lewis and Clark today via snail mail! I finally got a big packet that wasn't a teaser about 'Practical Skills' or something. Portland looks like a wonderful place.

2/17 - One week after I get some West coast lovin', I get some hatin', too. University of Washington ain't got no love for a mid-west guy like myself. Whatever, Wash! I got Iowa now, so you can eat me!

...although, seriously, this sucks. I wanted to go to Seattle. Looks like it'll have to be another vacation spot only.

2/18 - WL at Indiana today. Hmmm. Did not see this one coming.

2/26 - Withdrew from a couple schools today. If I don't have any money, I can't/won't go, so they had to come off my list. Hopefully Iowa will send some love my way, other wise I don't know if I can go... come on, Dean Jones, make my year.....

3/7 - Just got back from Iowa's ASW. I think I'm that much more likely to attend, now. I came home to a WL from W&L. I expected as much, so it's no bummer. I may send them a LOCI, but given Iowa would be cheaper and I liked it a lot, too, I may just withdraw instead.

3/11 - Withdrew from a few more schools today (UConn, UW - Madison, UCincy, UVA). Even if I came off the waitlist at Wisconsin, I think I'd be better off at Iowa. It may take some more will power to completely withdraw from W&L, Indiana, Illi, and MSU (that darn scholarship), but in due time, I will.

Think I'm going to Iowa.

...I never thought I would say that, hahaha.

4/1 - Well, that's all she wrote. Withdrew from MSU, UIUC, IU-Bloomington, and W&L today; sent my deposit to Iowa last week.

It's official - I am a Hawkeye.

Good luck to everyone with their cycles!

I got the MSU e-mail to man. It was an awesome feeling, good luck with the rest of your cycle.

Thanks!

I was honestly surprised to hear back so early in the cycle, especially given my sub-par LSAT score. I thought it was a rejection; fortunately, I was wrong. Good luck! (adding you to my watch list)

Thanks!

...I bet you will get in after the deferral dust blows over. I am hoping to get in too. Whats your top choice as of now?

Sunday, June 03 2007 at 08:00 PM

That sucks about the U of Wis wl, I feel your pain. Good luck with the rest of your cycle!

Shocked about Wisco
Tuesday, February 26 2008 at 07:00 PM

I really think you'll get in off the WL. Your index is high, GPA kills their median and 160s have gotten in before.

Saturday, October 11 2008 at 08:00 PM

I'm crossing my fingers for UW but I wont hold out much hope. L&C would be awesome to though so I cant complain. Where do you think you will end up?

Sunday, March 09 2008 at 08:00 PM

Best of luck on your applications and getting into UIUC. How the hell do you now have more decisions by now?

Sunday, March 09 2008 at 08:00 PM

Did you get another e-mail from Illinois asking you to complete a survey?

Iowa
Friday, June 13 2008 at 08:00 PM

Congrats on Iowa! It is a great school! But your CU rejection only reiterates the fact that I too am going to be rejected there at some point. haha Good luck with the rest of your cycle!

UIUC
Tuesday, March 04 2008 at 07:00 PM

Congrats on Iowa! I also got that e-mail survey/WL decision. Strange, since I think we are both above their 25% for LSAT/GPA. Best of luck with W&L :)

Friday, December 12 2008 at 07:00 PM

wow i am dumb i didn't even realize that you wrote ABOVE your second, edit post lol. im embarrassed. congrats on iowa again. i got denied at LSU for probably not a good enough "why LSU" essay, maybe the same reason why CU dinged you as well (as i saw you mention on TLS). oh well.

What a DAY!
Friday, June 13 2008 at 08:00 PM

Man, you had quite the day today and heard from quite a few schools! Congrats on UConn and getting money from Cincy! And start drafting that LOCI for UIUC! haha

Sunday, March 09 2008 at 08:00 PM

Surprised to hear about the IUB waitlist...but seriously, with the Iowa acceptance, you can tell Indiana to shove it. Seems like they're being a bunch of pompous windbags during this cycle.

Tuesday, December 16 2008 at 07:00 PM

We have identical numbers and are aiming for many of the same schools. I am pulling for you!

MSU
Tuesday, March 10 2009 at 08:00 PM

MSU undergrad here, got accepted there as well... really don't want to stay in Michigan but thinking I might! Congrats!

Yay Iowa!
Monday, June 11 2007 at 08:00 PM

I'm glad you're leaning towards Iowa. Also...I think I met you at ASW based on your admissions. I hope to see you there!

Final Decision
Friday, June 13 2008 at 08:00 PM

Congrats on making your final decision and deciding to become a Hawkeye! That must be a huge sigh of relief to know where you will be this fall! Good luck at Iowa!
