My top choices are Loyola, USD and Santa Clara. I would like to stay in SoCal but I am just stoked right now to be going somewhere! Goodluck on the rest!
thanks for the post --- yup this is a numbers game for sure... I thought I might get in at all my borderline schools after DePaul and Loyola accepted me... then Lewis and Clark was a real dagger... and all the rejections after that were basically expected. I'll be at DePaul tomorrow - I work downtown so it is my home turf... hopefully that's not the only reason the chicago schools picked me.... b/c I'm keeping my hopes up for U of O... You'll like DePaul I think - they had a good open house...dunno if you'd want to move to Chicago but it is a neat city and a great market.
for the message. i did go to ucsd too. best of luck this cycle! i don't know that i have a school preference yet since i'm still waiting on schools, but the wait is killing me!
I'm praying for Loyola or SD as well. I wonder what our chances are, it's so hard to say with our numbers. I feel like they don't want to accept our gpa, but they don't want to deny our lsat, so we just sit here forever while they finish up with everyone else first. That's my egocentric take. Anyway I applied a while before you to those schools so I'll let you know how it goes.
thank you for the nice message. I'm really stoked about Iowa; I didn't think I'd get in with my numbers. I think a bit of luck and a lot of praying helped to keep my head up and cope with all the rejections that I have received so far. It's been a grueling 3 months and I'm glad it's finally paying off. Congrats on Depaul and Gonzaga!!! I'm sure you will have many more acceptances to come. I see that you also applied to Iowa. Best of luck with that!
Hey thanks for the message, you're right it is nice to see someone else out there with the same numbers. I think you're in at Lewis & Clark for sure, they like anyone over 160 and don't put too much weight on GPA. They also get back to you quick so you should be hearing soon, would you consider going there? I'm going to their admitted students thingie tomorrow so I'll let you know what I think. Also, my status checker for Loyola says a decision was sent yesterday so I'll let you know how that goes. I really want this one so I'm so scared!
Thanks for the vote of confidence! I really appreciate it and I'm sure you'll be fine too. I'm still a bit worried since I did apply nearly 2 months before you.. this hold out is killing me.
thanks david you too....geese you applied to a lot of schools hahs, i'll keep my fingers crossed for you for santa clara and loyola - maybe i will even follow you to one of them!
Academic attrition rate could be found on lsac.org. What it has currently up is for 2004-2005. 2008 USNews ranking has new information of 2005-2006 but it does not specify the amount of attrition in academic and personal reasons. You will have to wait until lsac updates it source or call the school you am interested in finding out. Degree portability is the most difficult to find out because being hired with a non-local degree depends on employers' prior knowledge of the school and it varies subjectively. However, you can still find out roughly how many lawyers who went to a certain school at lawyers.com. Do the advanced search which includes a field about law school. As far as finding out the grade distribution, every school has a student handbook on their website. It tells you the grading curve or the grade distribution. So which school are you leaning towards?
I picked both FT and PT
I applied FT only, and I accepted a spot on the waitlist FT only. I was really hoping for an acceptance there.
How did you hear about DU? Did you get in today?
The main reason I went with LUC over DePaul and Kent was they have smaller class sizes and it seemed like the faculty was more easily accessible. Also, they had kind of a little Catholic school feel to the student body - figured you couldn't go wrong with that group of ppl... There are a couple things (basically curriculum) I especially like about Kent but in terms of atmosphere, I thought for me Loyola was a no-brainer.
for the message. the weird thing is, i think i put day division only and they accepted me evening division. there's always transfering later though. but i think if you check the people who got into the evening division, their gpa/scores combo should fall in line with ours. congrats on denver, and good luck with everything else!
was pretty cool when I visited this winter, enough for me to go there. i work with a few people from pitt who say nothing but good things about the city.
That's all that I did. I faxed my other scholarship offers to the asst. Dean of Admissions (I called the school to see who would handle such a request, and was told to send it directly to him....check on this first, each school is prob different). I wrote up a cover letter basically saying that St. John's was my first choice, all things being equal I would attend, but I had to strongly consider the offers. I was honest and spoke strgonly. I let him know I would definitely attend if I received some money. They probably like to see people who come across as a go-getter, and they rewarded me for not settling for something less than what I wanted. It worked for me, and I hope it works for you...You don't have anything to lose (they won't revoke your acceptance), and you won't gain anything if you don't try. Good luck!
On my ap, I checked FT and said I'd consider a spot in their PT program. I withdrew from the WL though - hopefully that makes the field smaller for you!
...decide on Chapman?
We have the same numbers and applied to many of the same schools. Congrats on DePaul and good luck with the rest (I was waitlisted at USF too). What's your top pick?
