Extra Curricular Information

my mom tells me i'm in a three way tie with my two brothers for funniest, smartest, most handsome boy in the world.

Additional info & updates

Most of my apps were sent 12/22/06. Decision dates based on the actual date of the letter (not date I received). Scholarships are per year.

3/20 - I got an email from WFU saying "we are deferring our final decision and have placed you on the Wait List." I don't know if that's a deferral or waitlist.

3/30 - Waitlisted at CU. With my numbers, that's a victory in itself. However, this makes things very difficult... I'm going to hit them hard with a couple more LORs and a letter of continued interest, all while keeping my fingers crossed.

4/11 - Sent in my deposit to Pitt today. 95% certain I will be a Panther this fall.

4/19 - Waitlisted at USD. Don't care. Withdrawn.

4/23 - Waitlisted at Rutgers-Newark (was deferred). Withdrawn. I have to say, I appreciate schools like Rutgers that inform you what they are doing, ie the deferral. This is contrary to what Case, Santa Clara, and ASU are doing.

4/27 - Officially waitlisted by Wake via an email. Will stay on the waitlist for a while to see what happens.

4/28 - Rejected by ASU. My Pitt decision just became a lot less cloudy.

4/30 - Received a bush league email from L&C asking if I was still interested in attending. After their rude deferral letter and this email, there's no way I'd attend. Thank goodness I got a few drinks out of them from a reception they had in Denver, otherwise I'd feel as though I completed wasted my app fee. Needless to say, withdrawn!

5/8 - Call from Case Western asking if I was still interested. Was sort of tempted, but told them I had already made a decision.

5/11 - Received acceptance from Santa Clara. Deposit due the 23rd. Will probably do nothing and informally withdraw. My cycle is officially over, pending the two waitlists I am on.

Talk about similar numbers. Looks like we have some of the same schools too. Good luck!!!

I have visited a few.

I went and walked around Lewis and Clark and talked with some people. It's a great school, very natural. If you like the school to just sort of blend in with the woods, then L&C is for you. I've been to Ohio State, and that school is always awesome. Go Bucks! My sister goes to St. Louis University School of Medicine, and although I've never been there... she says she studies in the law library because it's the best (nice and quiet). Which schools have you visited? I guess it all really depends on which area of law you want to study.

Good Luck

I'm looking forward to visiting the campus. I've never been to Denver... or even Colorado! So, it should be fun. I think I will go sometime in March... Anyway, good luck to you with your applications, looks like you have a lot out there!

Chicago

My fiance's never been to Chicago, but she wants off the West Coast for a while and Chicago seems to be the city she's decided would be the most fun. Obviously its early, but where in the grand scheme does DePaul fall for you?

Penn State...

I didn't get an email from Penn State. In fact I didn't even hear from them until I was accepted. Weird.

Gonzaga Congrats

I just found out from Gonzaga too. They sent me an e-mail to some admitted students online chat. Strange, but glad to know I was accepted.

thanks

for the comment - nah, I'm in good shape... I'm actually going to U of O for their env. law conference in a couple weeks... though I see they are not on your list, ah well, maybe I'll get some insight on schools up that way er at least on environmental law / public interest groups and their interaction with law schools.. Let me know what you think about Penn State --- I probably won't get a chance to visit anytime soon.

Depaul, Gonzaga

I actually just got a call from DePaul. They seem really friendly. I'm nervous about Chicago though. When I think about it I'll e-mail you some questions. Do you have any pics from your visit?

Don't give up on OSU

and I'm definitely going. I loved it! I'm psyched to go look for apartments and explore the area a little bit. I'm absolutely clueless about PA in general.

Congrats!

Are you still waiting on WFU or are you 100% about going to Pitt? I have a few friends who go to Pitt and they love it up there. Have you visited?

I'm very excited about getting a scholarship from USD. That means that the admisintation believes that I will do well there. They even said so in the scholarship letter. In terms of Lewis and Clark, they totally dropped the ball on the admissions process. It seems that their school filled up on less qualified candidates at the beginning of the cycle and had to turn many better applicants away starting in February. Just wondering but why did you decide to attend the University of Pittsburgh? Is it better than Case Western? Case sent me a similar e-mail yesterday and told me that I will have a decision this week. Still going to USD though. :)
