Additional info & updates

Dean's List every year.
*Numbers rounded down.*

As you can see, I'm not applying to a lot of Cali schools. After living here for more than 20 years, I'm ready for a change.

I'm so disappointed at my LSAT score. I think I was depressed for two weeks after the results came out. I doubt the schools I applied for will take me; however, they are the only schools I would consider attending if some miracle happens. As for now, I don't believe in miracles.

Good luck to each and everyone of you! May God be with you all.

01-03-07- Sent out most of my applications. I wonder how long it's gonna take these schools to receive my documents...

01-04-07- Sent out my last application!
Cross your fingers and pray for me!

01-23-07- Waitlisted at American, plain white envelope. That was fast. At least it's not an outright rejection! Sent in a statement of continuing interest. Don't think I'll get in though.

02-07-07- Rejected at UWash, plain white envelope. It was expected, so I'm not too upset over it.

02-09-07- Rejected at UIUC, plain white envelope. Simple letter asking me to apply a year later. No thanks.

02-13-07- Rejected at W&L, plain white envelope. Another rejection...even though it's not one of my top choices, I'm starting to get worried.

02-16-07- Rejected @ UM, plain white envelope. This is crazy. Am I gonna be accepted this year?!?!

02-23-07- Rejected @ UM-Ann Arbor, plain white envelope. I'm heartbroken. Even though it's a long shot, it's still disappointing to get rejected from my #1 school.

03-08-07- Rejected @ BC, Boalt, and Georgetown, plain white envelope. All great schools. Was sad to see so many rejections all at once. The letter from Boalt was quite sincere and understanding, while the letter from Georgetown was a bit harsh. This is starting to suck a lot.

03-12-07- Rejected @ ND, plain white envelope. *sigh*

03-15-07- Rejected at UT, plain white envelope.
Rejected at Fordham, through online status checker

03-17-07- Rejected at UVa, creamed color envelope. There goes my dream of attending a t10.

03-21-07- Accepted at U of I, via e-mail. IT'S OFFICIAL!!!! I AM GOING TO LAW SCHOOL!!!!!! My hands are trembling as I am typing this... I read the e-mail over and over again and pinched myself to see whether I'm dreaming. Holy mother of God, it's a miracle!!!!!

03-23-07- Received acceptance letter from U of I. I feel like I am living in a dream. I'm truly blessed.

03-28-07- Waitlisted at W&M, regular sized envelope. I don't know if I should be happy with this or not. Don't they place everyone who's not admitted on the waitlist?!?

03-29-07- Rejected at Brooklyn PT, tan envelope. I've always wanted to move to NY. I guess that's not going to be happening now.

03-30-07- Rejected at Wisconsin, plain white envelope. Not too upset about this. It's too cold there anyways.

04-03-07- Rejected @ WashU, plain white envelope. Said they were "highly impressed" with my credentials, yet they weren't able to offer me a seat or put me on the waitlist. I'm somewhat distraught by this.

04-06-07- Rejected @ UCDavis, online status check. Where is some CA love?

04-09-07- Rejected @ GW, tan envelope. No surprise here, but still hurts.

04-16-07- Rejected @ Vanderbilt, small white envelope. I guess I won't be rooming with my cousin this coming Fall.

04-25-07- Rejected @ UCLA, small white envelope. This one hurts, BAD. Looks like I won't be going to school close to home.

04-27-07- I decided to withdraw from W&M. No point in being on the waitlist when I have better options elsewhere.

04-27-07- Rejected @ USD, plain white envelope. Expected to be waitlisted, but not rejected outright. Who wants to go to a beautiful campus, right next to the Pacific Ocean anyways?

05-07-07- Rejected @ UNC, plain white envelope. Took long enough!!!! What a bunch of slowpokes! One more to go....

05-21-07- Rejected @ American, plain white envelope. A letter finally came to notify me that I wasn't accepted from the waitlist.

05-29-07- Waitlisted @ Santa Clara, plain white envelope. FINALLY! It's about time! Sent in a statement of continued interest. Don't know if I want to attend even if I get admitted though.

07-14-07- Decided to attend UIowa. Go Hawkeyes. C/O 2010.

Thanks for the message

Best of luck to you this cycle. Your profile is great and all of your ECs will definitely shine through to an Admin. Hope you get into your top choice.

Thanks!
Tuesday, January 02 2007 at 07:00 PM

Thanks for the words and support! Best of luck- you have some good numbers. I just sent out my apps too. The waiting is horrible!

Retake
Saturday, August 19 2006 at 08:00 PM

Hey, I just wanted to wish you the best of luck. Retake the LSAT if your cycle doesnt go well. With that GPA you should not attand a school outside the top 20 or so. But if you retake in june, study your ass off and I'm sure you can break 160, maybe even 165 if you really put in the work. Then the law school world will be your oyster. Good luck again,

Dont fret
Saturday, August 19 2006 at 08:00 PM

My numbers are fake obviously... I was in a similar (ok not really) posotion as you last year. and retook the lsats after some serious studying, improved em by a shitload. You are obviously smart with that GPA and have what it takes to work hard. Just see how things go, dont settle for to low a school, and retake in june so you can make the decision when you know where you might end up after this cycle.

Good luck

Hey good luck with this cycle! It surely is a nerve-wrecking waiting game. I have a feeling that you should apply to a few more safety schools. UW is my top choice but I know it's a long reach. I'd be happy to go to any decent school on the west coast. Hope you get into your top choice though! And yeah don't lose hope!

Keep Up
Saturday, January 06 2007 at 07:00 PM

Stay optimistic, I am sure at least a few schools will surprise you with acceptances as your soft factors seem like they can overcome the LSAT

Stay Positive
Saturday, December 02 2006 at 07:00 PM

Looks like we both spent the past week trying to get all of our apps sent out. Stay positive though. Head high and hopes up

Response to Your Question Regarding Rura
Saturday, July 01 2006 at 08:00 PM

When I first immigrated to the US, I lived in a rural/suburban community. Then, due to reasons beyond my control at the time, my family decided to relocate to LA. I never liked LA or any metro area. Traffic, crime, high cost of living, pollution, I am not fond of any of these aspects of an urban area. In short, I am not a big city person and prefer life in a rural or suburban area. Thanks for visiting my page and best of luck to you on your cycle! I hope that your user name reflects the past and your future reflects the opposite.

hey
Sunday, March 12 2006 at 07:00 PM

i am unsure of what my first choice is, fordham would be really nice though, but i am not sure where i will get in and where i won't - good luck

hey
Sunday, December 17 2006 at 07:00 PM

I was a little shocked by BC, but oh well... Good Luck with your cycle, where are you hoping to end up.. location wise?

thank you
Tuesday, September 26 2006 at 08:00 PM

Thank you for your well wishes. After my rejection i felt really low but i prayed to God that he open the doors that need to be opened and that those that need to be closed remain closed. Hope it all works out for you. Best :)

Thanks

Re: Nicely Put
Sunday, December 03 2006 at 07:00 PM

Thanks I like to think that everyone has something to offer law school. In any case, best of luck this cycle. I hope you get into Georgetown!!!

Sweet!
Wednesday, August 30 2006 at 08:00 PM

That is great, did the deans personally invite you via phone / in-person. I just got a letter. Madison so far is my first choice, been getting some good news, so I thought I would go for some REACHES (nu, wash u, vandy). If i get into any of those I'll go!

thanks
Saturday, December 23 2006 at 07:00 PM

thx for those kind words...im hoping adcomms will actually READ our applications rather than tossing them over to the auto-reject pile. im thinking about applying to u-wisc too...hell whats another 45 bucks?

Don't lose hope!
Thursday, January 11 2007 at 07:00 PM

Your sn caught my eye. Hey, if you're losing hope, then I might as well throw in the towel and kiss law school good-bye. But seriously, I feel the same and I will cross my fingers for us both.

Wisconsin
Monday, October 23 2006 at 08:00 PM

With the risk of sounding like a stalker, I saw that the dean at Wisconsin invited you to visit. We have similar LSAT scores, and I too am very disappointed with my score. Did you contact the dean?

American
Saturday, January 06 2007 at 07:00 PM

Waitlisting at American is an achievement in itself. Maybe things will work out.

Thank you
Tuesday, December 26 2006 at 07:00 PM

Thanks for the message...I really appreciate the supportive words. I met a friend at the gym who was just accepted into Rutgers Law...she advised me to retake as well

LSAT is your problem
Monday, January 22 2007 at 07:00 PM

Retake the LSAT. With a higher score, you could get into a top ten easily.

IOWA
Saturday, January 27 2007 at 07:00 PM

Hell yeah IOWA is a great school congrats!! Holy crap dude! TOP 25 HELL YEAH

Iowa
Thursday, December 21 2006 at 07:00 PM

Congratulations sir...I looked at your profile last week b/c we have similar numbers, but now it looks like we're both going to Iowa! Are you beginning Fall of Summer?

Re: Iowa
Thursday, December 21 2006 at 07:00 PM

I am leaning that way, UF promised a decision by the end of March, so there is still a chance that it may change. If not I'm moving 1500 miles in early May! Good luck with the rest of the cycle.

wow
Monday, October 02 2006 at 08:00 PM

Congrats on Iowa!!! Wow I bet you're extremely happy now. Iowa is ranked 22. That's unbelievable. I'm very happy for you. God is on your side.

Re:Booo!!!!
Thursday, December 21 2006 at 07:00 PM

Ha...I'm not worried at this point I just wanted to see if I could make a sweep of it all. I already have the apartment and everything waiting for me in Iowa City. I think I want Georgetown to take the series (sorry) but I'm rooting for you with UCLA! Are you from Cali?

Housing
Thursday, December 21 2006 at 07:00 PM

I'm actually heading off-campus...I'm bringing my 10 year old yellow lab with me...and I'm sure UI would not be appreciative. Two years during undergrad was enough for me, and I nmanaged to find a place cheaper than the on campus stuff. Let me know when you decide, and good luck

wow!
Tuesday, January 09 2007 at 07:00 PM

congrats on Iowa...that is so exciting...and you're going to law school!!!!

Congrats
Saturday, January 06 2007 at 07:00 PM

University of Iowa? That is impressive. It looks like your username holds no standing now. Not only a law school acceptance, but a top 25 law school acceptance! Wish I could say the same for myself. Kudos to you, because you probably deserve it.

Congrats!
Thursday, January 11 2007 at 07:00 PM

Now at least you are going to at least one law school. I hope you get better results from California schools!

Ouch
Thursday, December 21 2006 at 07:00 PM

Sorry about UCLA, I leave for Iowa in less than a week though I will give you a fair and honest evaluation. When do you have to commit?

Iowa
Thursday, December 21 2006 at 07:00 PM

I will definitely keep in touch and let you know how things go. I have about 2/3 of my things packed and the rest of the weekend ro finish. I hit the road on Wednesday! I'll be in Iowa by Friday. Go Hawkeyes!

Iowa
Thursday, December 21 2006 at 07:00 PM

Just a bit of an update...I have been here for a week and love the town. The law school is great and no more than 40 yards from the major gym on campus. I have the technology seminar in a few minutes and classes start on Monday, but its a good town; tons of ethnic cuisine, great farmers market, and the average Hi is in the mid 70s right now...plus...no forest fires! Hope all is well.
