Decisions:
Fordham - via e-mail
W& M - found out during my "interview" 12/4 but the letter was dated 12/1
Georgetown - 12/7 Status checker goes to "decision", not optimistic. Deferred by mail., letter dated 12/8. Promise a response by Feb 28. 2/24 Accepted to the PT Program.

UPDATE -- Accepted at Cornell! E-mail at 4:30pm EST and letter dated 12/4/06 in the mail same day.
Columbia - Snail mail envelope date 12/12. Sad but not surprising.
PENN - Deferred via snail mail. Letter dated 12/15, received 12/21. Waitlist by e-mail on 3/14. I think I'll be staying on. Call regarding waitlist 5/21.
GW -- call at work 12/27 (left a voicemail) saying I was accepted
BU -- 1/3/07 Phone call on my cell that I missed saying I was accepted and implying I knew this already as I package had been sent to my permanent address - shame no one is there to get the mail.
BC -- 1/4/07 Dad calls to say package has arrived. I'm in!
Northwestern -- e-mail saying my letter would be available on the status checker tomorrow! So so happy I think I might cry.
MICHIGAN -- 1/3/07 e-mail that is essentially a hold/deferral. 3/2/07 Got the waitlist e-mail. I'll be staying on.
NYU -- Rejection recieved 1/30 in a small white envelope, mailed 1/24
DUKE -- e-mail around 11am saying I'm on the waitlist. Not sure what I will do yet.
UVA - Status checker updated to say decision mailed on 3/6/07. Got the decision on 3/8 - General out of state waitlist.
Scholarships: (3 year totals)

Fordham -- came after e-mail acceptance with formal acceptance packet around 12/27
GW -- single sheet letter dated 1/9 arrived 1/12 Increased offer via e-mail 3/28.

Online Log of Goings On!
5/21 -- I guess my withdrawl from UPenn didn't process because I just got a call asking if I'd be interested in a place off the waitlist. I said no. It was sad, but I made my decision and I have a condo in Chicago so its final.
4/4 No longer in hiding -- I'm going to Northwestern. I might still see if they will give me some money (highly unlikely) but even 5k a year would be fantastic.
3/28/07 Going to GW tomorrow until mid afternoon then flying to NU. Withdrawing from BC after recieving $0 in financial aid.
3/27/07 Some applications are hiding for a while.
3/26/07 Headed off to Northwestern this weekend. Very excited. NU hasn't sent me any financial aid infor yet which is frustrating. I spoke with their office and they said to give it another week. Also stopping by GW on Friday.
3/12/07 - Visited Cornell this past weekend. Really like it, but I still have some reservations. That said I'm happy enough with what I saw that I'll be withdrawing from UVA and Duke waitlists.
2/27/07 -- I played around with my rankings to reflect my shifting preferences.
2/16/07 -- Sick of waiting so I decided to make some calls. Called G-Town because my status checker was being wierd and I was told the committee would make a decision on my app next week. Called Michigan and was told while there was no specific timeline to get back to deferred applicants I would most likely hear in March.
2/14/07 -- Decided to stay on the Duke waiting list, for the moment at least.
2/12/07 -- Got my financial aid package at BU. No scholarship/ grants just loans. Will withdraw as soon as I can find the form. GW's offer is better.
2/6/07 -- Haven't had any news in a while but am hoping that I hear back from some of my Deferred schools and UVA and Duke. Also sad that I didn't get a scholarship e-mail from NU but maybe since they have all my financial aid info they will send me a package on that soon.
1/17/07 -- I withdrew from AU and will withdraw shortly from W&M and Fordham. All great schools but I know I'm not going so this seems like the right thing to do.
1/16/07 Feeling the need to profess love for Northwestern. I have't even gotten the acceptance package yet and I feel special. Sending stuff via FedEx shows love and then there are all those e-mails inviting me to things. At the moment Northwestern is my favorite based on shear effort on their part.
1/13/07 GW acceptance package with a postcard to get a t-shirt. Yay! My first law school t-shirt
1/12/07 $20,000 a year from GWU. I really can't believe it.
1/10/07 - Got my acceptance package from Cornell. No mention of a scholarship so I guess if I want to go I'm going to have to pay for it all :(
1/9/2007 Disclaimer about my rankings. The more places I get into the more uncertain I become about the rankings. So take what I've put up with a grain of salt.
1/8/2007 Got a nice glossy magazine from Cornell in the mail
1/4/2007 Apparently Michigan won't be making any more decisions until mid-January because of Proposition 2. I don't like this.
1/3/2007 E-mail from Michigan saying they have reviewed my app but are unable to render a decision yet. I know they are trying to appease my anxiety but its not really helping.
1/2/2007 Happy New Year! I decided to put in my preference ranking for those schools I've gotten a yes/no decision from. Keep in mind some schools get the same ranking.
12/19 I'm expecting decisions from Penn, BC this week and BU and GW quite soon. The waiting is really getting to me. I've been reordering my school preferences. I have a short list of about 4 schools that if I get into any of them I'm going to withdraw from between 7 and 10 of my schools.
12/14 Found out that Columbia has started sending deferral and rejection letters. Now I am sad. I guess i just hope its a deferral and not a rejection. Columbia you're still my first choice!
12/4 Realized I messed up the dates to start sending my acceptances/rejections to my permanent address and I think everything is going there. Good to know there is no one there to let me know what it says. Oh well.
11/30 Got William and Mary invite to meet the Assistant Dean in DC on Monday. So excited. Can't wait. Rescheduled my Northwestern interview for Friday evening after work. Wohoo.
11/20 Last application sent. I can't believe it took me so long to write that last essay. Grr.
11/15 Started deleating the very end of this because its too long. Realized I forgot to send the Duke Scholarship form -- in the mail today. Maybe now I will go complete.
11/14 Got sick over the weekend and the apps didn't happen. I did at least get BU done. Now just NYU remains. This week. Complete at Northwestern even though I haven't had my alumni interview which I indicated I had requested on the form. Weird.
11/10 I'm finishing my last two applications this weekend. I'm embarrased it has taken me this long to get to them. But before I panic I tell myself that I'm still reasonably early in the game.
11/7 My goal was to be complete everywhere by 11/15. I'm not going to make it everywhere but most places. I'm hoping to have a decision by early Dec. but that might be too optimistic.
11/2 I'm complete somewhere. I'm so happy. Also my friend got itno Georgetown ED yesterday so that is cool. Now I wish I would go complete at my other EA/ED schools to which I sent applications earlier than Virginia!
thanks for the message, best of luck to you for the June LSAT!!! Make sure you write an addendum explaining the first score :)
- indianprincessThanks for your message! You definitely sound in the same boat as me--testing high in practice, testing poorly in reality. I freaked out the day of my first two exams, and what helped me get my top score was studying with lots of distractions. I could ace the test in my apartment--a quiet, controlled space. But try studying in coffeeshops, libraries that are busy, etc. and that could really help. Once you get used to the distractions, it makes taking the real test, when there could be odd disturbances, much easier. I would also recommend doing a prep course, not for the testing strategies but for the 4-6 formal, timed exams that you get to take as part of the course. By the time the real test comes around it's old news. Hope this helps!
- agnethaI'm not sure why my earlier message went through twice.. But I would also add that you shouldn't do an addendum unless you have a really good reason for your earlier score. At least that's my theory. My only excuse is nerves, which isn't much of an excuse at all. I chose to let my numbers speak for themselves, and so far I've been doing okay.
- agnethaI think I'm taking the LSAT again with you. Working on my PS right now, thanks for the comment on LSD.
- LSUtoDCAmerican & GW both have ranked Intl. Law programs (USNews), and I think you'd be able to get in with your current numbers. Good luck! :)
- latteyou go to wesleyan? bastards wouldn't let me in.
- stotan12I am taking the LSAT in Oct. I saw that you had taken the LSAT twice and had a dramatic jump. I was wondering if you had any idea the reason behind that. Did you notice a difference in difficulty? Did you Prep Differently?
- BJUMPhahah we sure do have sports. i was actually going to play bball at wesleyan. again, if they let me in. bastards. no i probably would have hated it there...i'm too conservative.
- stotan12I am also a dual national. Not sure how much law schools care about this, but I also mentioned it in my personal statement. Good luck, hope you get to practice in the EU and US!
- LegalLatin78True, I don't think there are an overabundance of dual-nationals in law school, so it can't hurt!
- LegalLatin78Hi - good luck, and congrats on the LSAT jump! I am in a similar boat: I got a 157 in June '02, prepped much more for Sept 06 but although I was preptesting well (164-171) I think I did much worse on test day - 159-163, my guess. An improvement, but like you I think it's not an improvement that reflects my potential. I'm retaking in Dec., but what are your thoughts on cancelling the Sept score or having 3 scores, even if they show progressive improvement? Some LSDers have mentioned 3 scores might indicate to adcoms that "you were unprepared and showed poor judgement in keeping your lower scores" bla bla. Just wondering if you're addressing this in your addenda or letting the numbers/improvement speak for themselves? Either way, congrats - your my 3-score inspiration! -Warrigal
- WarrigalI'm pulling for you, hopefully you can get in at Columbia. You have a really interesting profile and I will be curious to see how you end up.
- cassiseOn your apps! You should have a great cycle. I'm thinking Michigan might be a shoe in... which is hard for most people to say, so congrats! I've enjoyed reading your application "journey." =)
- PaigeHey, good luck w/ the cycle. I was just wondering why you aren't putting your LSAT average in your LSAT field. Do you know if the schools you're applying to are going to just considering your highest?
- CitySlicker4LifeGood luck on ED! Hope to see you in the fall!
- deminghhey, i submitted my LSAC application, and American requested it the next day. (Found out via LSAC site). The next day AU e-mailed me, and said that they had received my application, and to call if I had any questions. I would call them if I were you... good luck
- guboundYeah, as someone else said, you might want to call... I heard from them on completeness almost immediately
- bannana873hey good luck to you!
- jogabonitoi don't know what to do with myself now that apps are over....i can't wait till december. so where'd you do your overseas work? UK?
- jogabonito...well depends on which Kenyan languages you know.
- jogabonitoDid you get an email that you're complete at Penn, or did they only tell you on the phone?
- JimJonSonNothing came by e-mail which is why I called
- WeeSqueakyeah--that's all i know from kikuyu-- anyhow, good luck on your cycle, maybe we'll end up at the same place
- jogabonitowe have similar numbers....i hope we get in everywhere!
- songndancehi! because...i wanted to put a range...but then it wouldn't let me in the designated spots.... i like how your additional info is very comprehensive, detailed, and informative.
- songndanceSimilar numbers! Hope everything goes well for you. Keeping my fingers crossed... :)
- stradgirlCongrats on Fordham from a fellow LSDer.
- kiki123I haven't heard anything from NYU regarding being complete . . . you seem nice so I thought I'd ask if you had. So, errr, have you gotten any communication from them, or do they just suck?
- gengiswumpYou are so similar to my case: My highest LSAT score is 168, GPA 3.6 and finally multiple LSAT and +10 increase. The only difference is that I am a foreign applicant. I hope miracle happens for both of us for ED in Columbia... hopefully....!
- DianaI feel a lot better knowing that NYU's notorious . . . hopefully it won't matter for either of us as we'll both be accepted at Columbia. :)
- gengiswumpDo you feel that Georgetown letter on its way? Good luck to you!
- iscoreda119did you really go to decision already?! i'm jeaous! good luck. i'm sure you'll have positive news for lsd.
- jogabonitoMine wasn't good. I hope yours is better!
- iscoreda119PS. Congratulations on Cornell!
- iscoreda119on Cornell!
- historigalThanks. I don't think it's worth it though. I'll have a job pretty soon, so it could be convincing, but if I get into Texas or one of my T14 schools it'll be no question... i would have picked them over GULC full time anyway. anyway, sorry to see you were deferred. I hope they're just trying to find a place for you in FT!
- iscoreda119holding out for upenn this week :) good luck!
- jogabonitoi hope we get good news from penn soon
- jogabonitoWhich schools did you put on your list of 4? And if you don't mind, what is your order of preference.
- chrisrahosirisCongrats on the acceptances as well. I know you're happy. The waiting is getting to me too, but you at least all of your apps are completed already. Take care.
- chrisrahosirispenn yet? i haven't checked my mail but i'm not home yet.
- jogabonitoyou're not waitlisted or rejected at penn; we still have hope! i think i'll be getting my letter in the mail today.
- jogabonitoSeriously, what's with no word from Duke? I'm beginning to think they forgot about some of us...
- latteJust stoppin' by :)
- gwuwannabehey, we have pretty similar numbers and we both got deferred from Gtown and the hold letter from Michigan - just wanted you to know I am keeping my fingers crossed for you.
- pugattackhow did you hear about money from Fordham?
- Mike101985on northwestern! way to go
- jogabonitoat this point i dont even know anymore. boalt and stanford are my top choices but i am starting to panic that i applied to too many reaches and not enough safeties.
- pugattackScholarship- did that come in the large envelope with the printed letter (identical to the email we received), or is there some binder than I'm missing?
- almamattersmy interview is next week... hopefully joining you!
- jbruin152for the congrats, it feels great to be in somewhere! here's hoping to more good news soon, for both of us!
- pugattackcongrats on your applications and good luck on your 'deferrals' and 'pendings'! we're in similar boats. :)
- waronerrorismfor the advice! i think it went really well... maybe i'll see you in chicago
- jbruin152this deferral business is killing me. how you holdin up?
- jogabonitoI got an e-mail from them on 1/31 saying that they selected me for a scholarship. Northwestern is one of my top choices, so I am pretty pumped about it.
- TheCheatI received an email on 1/031/07. I do apologize for not making that evident, but I simply lack the discipline to keep my account as organized and informative as yours. Good luck with all of your apps. We may end up getting into six of the same schools... classmates maybe?
- blubberbeeyeah, i guess the 167 ain't what it used to be. hehe. it's okay though, i wasn't expecting anything from them, same with harvard. columbia was a big surprise...i'm hoping a W/L from columbia means a better chance of a deferral/acceptance from MBP (since i applied to boalt instead of virginia :-) ) I'd actually much rather go to one of them than nyu, so it works out mighty fine. i don't really know what to think of the deferral, at least it's not a rejection! so i'm going to hold out for feb 23rd....feb is going to be a LONG month...thank god i'm heading out to europe for a mini vacation next week, otherwise i'm about ready to jab my eyes out if i have to check any more status checkers/emails/mailboxes. good luck to you though! i'd think the int'l experience should help with georgetown?
- jogabonitoon your many great acceptances so far! and good luck on all the rest~
- songndanceWas curious which you would choose given just that option. Am in similar boat and have no idea myself. Also have a few deferrals myself so could pan out differently. But, what would you choose? Thanks!
- SameBoatjust wanted to check up on your applications. man this waiting thing is killing me. how you holding up?
- jogabonitoI think at the moment I'm leaning toward NU because I think there are advantages to being in a city. That said Cornell is supposed to be beautiful and I will probably still visit.
- WeeSqueakThanks for your input... I have been leaning towards Cornell but am visiting both as well. Just read your post on LSD re Penn and I am still waiting as well. Also one of my top choices. Goodluck! I hope it works out for both of us. But if not, we've got great choices.
- SameBoatI KNEW IT!!!! Super duper big time congrats on GULC PT!!! I hope you have an awesome weekend celebratng.
- buckeye2006I KNEW IT!!!! Super duper big time congrats on GULC PT!!! I hope you have an awesome weekend celebratng.
- buckeye2006Don't go to GULC PT unless you actually want to go PT to law school. You have some excellent acceptances from Northwestern, Cornell, and the big-money from GW..
- Capt. Longshotjust wanted to check in and see how you're doing. looks like you have a lot of choices, which is great (wish i had some :/) any idea where you're leaning at this point?
- pugattackThanks for the message, congrats on your acceptances so far. I got a one page letter in the mail this afternoon. My status checker still hasn't been updated and I haven't gotten any emails either. I got on the "priority in-state" list. Good luck, hope you get better news.
- gforce21You're going to Cornell March 9th - right? See you then! Are you visiting any others?
- 30secondstolawat Northwestern this weekend! (I'm so excited to be visiting) ~Chandler Bing from LSD
- paige84congrats on finally being settled. hope to join you ASAP!
- jbruin152WHat a relief it must be to start bringing yor cycle to a close & focusing on the future! Big time congrats on NU and good luck seeking some $$$ there... you've cerainly got the numbers to justify it. DCB2006
- Buckeye2006Hey there! Yeah.. they e-mailed me on Friday evening, actually. I was kind of surprised since everyone I talked to said I would be waiting until the 23rd. Either way, it looks like I'm probably going to turn them down. I love Northwestern, but I think the cost of living plus scholarship at UVA is just too much to pass up. Hopefully they'll send it your way!
- mantisYeah, I got the e-mail saying that they were out of grant money, let them know about Gtown's offer and told them I was pretty set on NU but needed some money from them to close the deal. They notified me I think on the 24th of April. It's no $$ the first year, then $15k thereafter. Still doesn't match Gtown at all, but good enough.
- D3b4s3rwe are so similar. im thinking about retaking the lsat for the third time in sept after not scoring where i want to this past june and i have a 3.75 and 166. I would sooo appreciate your advice on this. if i can get into the schools you got into, i would be very happy!! can you please email me? your advice would help me so much.
- envirolawCongratulations on your excellent cycle. I have similar numbers and a some similar soft-factors and other stuff :) I was just wondering did you write a letter of continued interest to GULC after they deferred you? Thanks, and hope you are having fun in Chicago!
