I feel I am borderline between a acceptance and a WL. We will see. I hope the degree GPA pulls me up a bit. Yes, I am interested in Ent Law... which is why I would LOVE UT. PS: You will get into Vandy too.

You don't need to worry.

The 170 will carry you in.

Thx/Answer

Thanks :). Appreciate it. As to Cad. Ab., basically Canadian Aboriginal, which is equivalent to Native American, except Canadian. Some schools do consider it a URM (as they consider all native peoples of North America to be under the same scope), others don't. It's highly dependent on individual school preferences.

thanks!

you too... no georgetown app?

I actually think you have a very good shot at getting in off the WL by spring (assuming you don't get in outright) 170 seems to be the magic number, and it's not too late!

I grew up in Arkansas and might even want to practice in Little Rock someday. It's part of the reason I ED'd UVA - great school with southern cred. Is G-town your top choice?

I hear ya - I'm expecting a lot of waitlistings myself. You should still have your pick of a fine litter, though. Even GULC is quite friendly toward those scoring 170+.

thanks

Thanks. Your numbers are close to mine so I wouldnt be surprised if you heard from GULC soon. Good luck!

The "H" is in place of the ranking I have given each school. I ranked the law schoolsthat I applied to in my profile and selected the "hide choice" setting to make my rankings invisible. Hope that helps out... Good luck with your application cycle!!!

Tennessee is great! Thanks for the post, and good luck with the rest of your cycle.

Re: Vanderbilt
Wednesday, November 28 2007 at 07:00 PM

To be honest, the location in Nashville was the best for me since it was close to family and where I wanted to end up practicing. However, Vanderbilt would have probably ended up top on my list regardless once I visited. The atmosphere, the people, the career services... they're all incredible! I would really encourage you to visit if you're giving it serious consideration. Also, check out the Class of 2011 Facebook page at http://vanderbilt.facebook.com/group.php?gid=6634896370 It's run by the current 1Ls and probably will give you more well-rounded answers than I could alone. But most of all, just note that our class is so proud and enthusiastic about our school--I think that speaks volumes in itself. Good luck!

it went really well and was really casual. i had a young guy who graduated there in '06 and we chatted for an hour about the school, my goals, his experiences with D.C. and the faculty, and just life in various cities in general. i told you they'd like you. :)

Re: Traffic Tickets
Wednesday, November 28 2007 at 07:00 PM

Most certainly did not (I have a couple) and wouldn't unless specifically asked to. However, even if you did, I think the school would just laugh unless you had an absurd number, or something really scary.

the admitted students site didn't become available until like a week ago for everyone, so it's hard to say. I got my letter 3 days after it was dated and I live on the opposite coast.

Non, j'ai pas encore fait aucun choix d'ecole de droit puisque c'est assez tot. Mais j'espere dans les jours a venir, je serai en mesure de le faire. De nouveau, je te souhaite de bonnes saisons festivales.

Thank you!

Thanks for the well-wishing, and good luck to you, too! It's good to see another TN TLSer on this site. Out of the schools that have accepted me, I'm starting to prefer Berkeley. I really hope to get into NYU. It would be nice to have UVA as one of my options as well, since I have a cousin who is a 1L there and it's within driving distance of the family home. What are your top choices?

Monday, October 29 2007 at 08:00 PM

Congrats on BC and GW! At least you're on GULC's priority WL - means you still have a solid shot there.

re: WashU
Thursday, August 23 2007 at 08:00 PM

Thank you for the congratulations. I chose WashU over GW after visiting both schools. My visit to WashU went really well. The admissions people were the most genuine and welcoming adcoms at any school I visited. I also took the time to speak with many students (not just the ones they assign you to meet) and every one raved about how much they enjoy school and how good their career opportunities were. On the other hand, my visit to GW was a disaster. The admissions people were short and uninformed and the law school was so crowded and impersonal. The real kicker was the mixed reactions I got from students. While some liked it there, most complained about problems with the school and career services. I had one student flat out tell me her whole study group hoped to transfer to Georgetown. It was easier to eliminate GW than it was to eliminate Georgetown. I really fell in love with Georgetown. At the end of the day, I wouldn't go there PT and pay full price when I had other good options. Sorry for blabbering on...Are you leaning towards any of your schools?

re: washu
Thursday, August 23 2007 at 08:00 PM

Good luck the rest of the way. Hope to see you next year if you end up choosing Washu

WashU
Tuesday, January 15 2008 at 07:00 PM

Ya I wouldn't go to Emory either with 90k from WashU- great school! My decision to go to Emory still isnt official, but I really like the school. If you tell them it's your #1 and will absolutely go if they can compete financially you would think they'd help you out (esp w/ a 170). I dunno if I would go to Vandy if I got in...going to visit in June. You?

UNC

I love Chapel Hill, but I'm just ready for something new. I'm guessing you went/go to WFU? Probably the nicest campus of the NC 3. Good luck with Vanderbilt. Cashville is awesome!!

Congrats!
Saturday, January 05 2008 at 07:00 PM

You have a ton of great options lined up for you. However, did you just now hear about the Wake scholarship today?

WFU
Saturday, January 05 2008 at 07:00 PM

Thanks. I'm hopeful, because I was really impressed with Wake but I may not be able to attend if the FA situation doesn't work out. I was at the ASD as well: awkward person #77 without a collared shirt that was fielding all kinds of questions once people learned I was from the area. I assume you got the same stuff? Lots of good choices for you -- congrats on your excellent cycle!

GU
