That's excellent for you! I wish you luck throughout the rest of your cycle!
Congrats! But I am sure you knew you were an auto-admit there.
BTW, when did you send out your apps/go complete etc?
I feel I am borderline between a acceptance and a WL. We will see. I hope the degree GPA pulls me up a bit. Yes, I am interested in Ent Law... which is why I would LOVE UT. PS: You will get into Vandy too.
The 170 will carry you in.
BobLoblaw was taken.
Thanks :). Appreciate it. As to Cad. Ab., basically Canadian Aboriginal, which is equivalent to Native American, except Canadian. Some schools do consider it a URM (as they consider all native peoples of North America to be under the same scope), others don't. It's highly dependent on individual school preferences.
you too... no georgetown app?
I actually think you have a very good shot at getting in off the WL by spring (assuming you don't get in outright) 170 seems to be the magic number, and it's not too late!
if we both end up there, you owe me a beer. :)
no way you get a flat-out rejection. you're a waitlist at worst.
I went to the school with the most men's basketball titles... and it isn't in North Carolina. :)
good luck i second the gulc app maybe we will all be there next year
Permanent, but I kept them the same because I'm still at home. I have only one month left of undergrad, since I am graduating early. So, I didn't want the current address to only be valid for a month. So, I may not be the best to ask!
Well howdy to you too, twinkie! Can't say I'm sure how I feel about your stealing my numbers... :) Seriously though, good luck!
thanks! good luck to you, too!
I grew up in Arkansas and might even want to practice in Little Rock someday. It's part of the reason I ED'd UVA - great school with southern cred. Is G-town your top choice?
I hear ya - I'm expecting a lot of waitlistings myself. You should still have your pick of a fine litter, though. Even GULC is quite friendly toward those scoring 170+.
Thanks. Your numbers are close to mine so I wouldnt be surprised if you heard from GULC soon. Good luck!
The "H" is in place of the ranking I have given each school. I ranked the law schoolsthat I applied to in my profile and selected the "hide choice" setting to make my rankings invisible. Hope that helps out... Good luck with your application cycle!!!
so I got in and our numbers are almost identical... you have a good shot!
you are silly puppy dog
Tennessee is great! Thanks for the post, and good luck with the rest of your cycle.
To be honest, the location in Nashville was the best for me since it was close to family and where I wanted to end up practicing. However, Vanderbilt would have probably ended up top on my list regardless once I visited. The atmosphere, the people, the career services... they're all incredible! I would really encourage you to visit if you're giving it serious consideration. Also, check out the Class of 2011 Facebook page at http://vanderbilt.facebook.com/group.php?gid=6634896370 It's run by the current 1Ls and probably will give you more well-rounded answers than I could alone. But most of all, just note that our class is so proud and enthusiastic about our school--I think that speaks volumes in itself. Good luck!
it went really well and was really casual. i had a young guy who graduated there in '06 and we chatted for an hour about the school, my goals, his experiences with D.C. and the faculty, and just life in various cities in general. i told you they'd like you. :)
Most certainly did not (I have a couple) and wouldn't unless specifically asked to. However, even if you did, I think the school would just laugh unless you had an absurd number, or something really scary.
you're too cute! yay lawww school
did you interview yet? you better get in so you can go to the admit weekend in january :)
once you get into georgetown you have to buy me a beer and wear a UCLA basketball shirt.
They were very friendly and I believe they are expecting the calls. Hopefully you will get better news then i did.
the admitted students site didn't become available until like a week ago for everyone, so it's hard to say. I got my letter 3 days after it was dated and I live on the opposite coast.
I went decision at gtown on the 19th i leave on Saturday so i really hope it comes by Friday. The admitted student site says 4 days after decision but i have heard it can take up to a week, so don't panic at 4 days.
Thanks, maddox! I was a bit confused about the permanent address thing too... I wasn't expecting it, esp. because I've been out of undergrad for a couple of years now. I got the xmas card and acceptance letter on the same day. Status checker went to decision on Monday, 12/17. The letters arrived on the following Thursday afternoon. Good luck with the rest of your cycle!
fair question! i caught a 6:30 AM train home this morning. any news from GULC?
Good luck with everything! You can bet that since our numbers are so similar I'm rooting for you. Good luck especially with GULC!
Oh and by the way, I don't see why you wouldn't get into W&L seeing as your numbers are better than mine. Are you very interested in going there if accepted?
Mademoiselle, t'en fais si je te salue? J'espere que tout marche pour toi et profite de cette opportunite pour te souhaiter "Joyeux Noel, Bonne et Heureuse Annee 2008". I hope that you understand me since your major was french. Good luck with the cycle and Have a great holiday.
Non, j'ai pas encore fait aucun choix d'ecole de droit puisque c'est assez tot. Mais j'espere dans les jours a venir, je serai en mesure de le faire. De nouveau, je te souhaite de bonnes saisons festivales.
Thanks for the well-wishing, and good luck to you, too! It's good to see another TN TLSer on this site. Out of the schools that have accepted me, I'm starting to prefer Berkeley. I really hope to get into NYU. It would be nice to have UVA as one of my options as well, since I have a cousin who is a 1L there and it's within driving distance of the family home. What are your top choices?
I am starting to think WL ugh
I live in DC and I think Georgetown is a great school, but watch out for the pink pleated chino wearing d-bags ;)
yea still havent heard, i'm at home though till the 1st. I'm assuming i'm a WL cause I cant log into the admitted student site. But, we'll see...
On W&L! I knew you'd get in there. Now we just have to wait and find out if we got any money from them.
On W&L, and I'm sure your great news from GULC, too...once you finally get to open it!
to hear about the waitlist at GULC, but it looks like you've gotten some great news since then - congrats!!!
we have similar chances at our common schools. good luck. sorry about cornell. i will bitch slap them when i get there
on you great cycle so far. i figured you would have been a lock for g'town and bc. just wondering, why didn't you apply to duke or unc? not a fan of the area?
hey thanks for your input. i am really not sure why i even applied to unc because there is no way i'm getting in with their residency at the level it is. congrats on emory by the way. i applied there too, but again, very unlikely. but i was complete in september so i guess it is a good sign they haven't rejected me yet. i also went with BU. my chances there aren't even worth discussing. you have got some nice scholarships; any idea where you're leaning?
Congrats on all your acceptances!
Congrats on BC and GW! At least you're on GULC's priority WL - means you still have a solid shot there.
No word of any scholarships yet. This is coming down to the wire, eh? Deposits are due soon! :3
Thank you for the congratulations. I chose WashU over GW after visiting both schools. My visit to WashU went really well. The admissions people were the most genuine and welcoming adcoms at any school I visited. I also took the time to speak with many students (not just the ones they assign you to meet) and every one raved about how much they enjoy school and how good their career opportunities were. On the other hand, my visit to GW was a disaster. The admissions people were short and uninformed and the law school was so crowded and impersonal. The real kicker was the mixed reactions I got from students. While some liked it there, most complained about problems with the school and career services. I had one student flat out tell me her whole study group hoped to transfer to Georgetown. It was easier to eliminate GW than it was to eliminate Georgetown. I really fell in love with Georgetown. At the end of the day, I wouldn't go there PT and pay full price when I had other good options. Sorry for blabbering on...Are you leaning towards any of your schools?
Good luck the rest of the way. Hope to see you next year if you end up choosing Washu
Ya I wouldn't go to Emory either with 90k from WashU- great school! My decision to go to Emory still isnt official, but I really like the school. If you tell them it's your #1 and will absolutely go if they can compete financially you would think they'd help you out (esp w/ a 170). I dunno if I would go to Vandy if I got in...going to visit in June. You?
I love Chapel Hill, but I'm just ready for something new. I'm guessing you went/go to WFU? Probably the nicest campus of the NC 3. Good luck with Vanderbilt. Cashville is awesome!!
Have you tried using your WUSTL money as leverage? Perhaps inform them that you would really love to attend Emory, but that the significant difference in cost makes it difficult for you to do so. That is, if you would rather go to Emory. Personally, even if they matched the money I would still prefer WUSTL, especially since WUSTL's scholarship doesn't have any GPA or class ranking stipulations for renewal. Where do you want to practice after school?
That's how the game is played, and their adcomms are no strangers to the scholarship-matching game. See if you can get an offer out of them, and don't feel too horrible if you end up going to Vandy anyway. The only thing you might end up regretting is not trying. I mean, if an email that takes 10 minutes to write can get you $60,000. . . that's $360,000 dollars an hour =D
You have a ton of great options lined up for you. However, did you just now hear about the Wake scholarship today?
Thanks. I'm hopeful, because I was really impressed with Wake but I may not be able to attend if the FA situation doesn't work out. I was at the ASD as well: awkward person #77 without a collared shirt that was fielding all kinds of questions once people learned I was from the area. I assume you got the same stuff? Lots of good choices for you -- congrats on your excellent cycle!
looking that way right now. I'm gonna make a decision for sure by June 2, GU's 2nd deadline. until then, just waiting to see how it plays out.
I was having a hard time choosing between Texas and Cornell. I'm going into the Peace Corps in May, and I needed a two-year deferral of admission. Texas was cool and gave it to me, no money now, guaranteed admit for the fall of '10. Cornell told me to withdraw from every other school and pay $700 (that I don't have at the moment) up front for a deferral. That, along with the cold weather and the fact that Cornell was looking to be about twice as expensive as UT, led me to choose Texas--go longhorns! What about you, any decisions? I think I would start registering for WUSTL this fall if I was in your shoes--it's a wonderful school. I got the same scholly you did and I came really close to accepting it.
Thanks! You too, looks like you have some great options. For me it's between WUSTL and Emory, plus I'm staying on the Vandy WL. Have you made a decision yet?
On Georgetown!
Congrats from somebody who's been following your cycle since September! I'm still not totally decided, so there's a chance I could end up at G-Town two years from now. Take really good notes for me! ^_~ Again, congratulamationsezs!
Curriculum B. Totally. Rocks. Do. It. Please.
It's official: GULC. It appears you are heading there as well. Congrats
you got in! you owe me a beer while wearing a DUKE shirt! :)
When did they call to accept you? Congrats on Gtown, that\'s great.
Looks like we both got what we wanted. Good luck in the fall!
Hey man, congrats on GULC. Which section are you in? I got Section 2, and from what I here the best section to be in. See you at orientation.
Congrats on UT-Knox, that's awesome! When did you get your acceptance?
