I am planning on posting my numbers after I get accepted, so that others may learn from all my rejections. But I am too paranoid to do it before then.

Thanks for the well wishes!
Thursday, September 08 2005 at 08:00 PM

I guess I am more paranoid then you are lol. But I wish you the best of luck.. I'm sure youll get in somewhere awesome!

haha

Wonderful numbers :) I understand the paranoia. I refuse to buy college sweatshirts because I am afraid I will jepardize my chances of getting in. Good luck, I am sure you will do well!!

Less Paranoid than me now!

CONGRATS MAN! You must be soo excited!!!

???

That's a good question. I don't know. I think I'd rather be deferred than waitlisted. If you are deferred, they are basically saying you are competitive and they want to compare you to more applicants. Then from that point you might get "preferred waitlisted" (I'm not sure, just seems like it might be one outcome.) Waitlisted means you will not get in unless they do not have enough acceptances from the admits, and they happen to choose you at that point, which will probably be May or later.

You should call the admissions office, I don't think GWU sends any confirmation that your app is complete. I had to call them to confirm that.

wow..you are lucky
Monday, November 28 2005 at 07:00 PM

to be even waitlisted to gtown pt...is it less competitive? why did you apply pt? but yeah. congrats on the gw acceptance. you give me so much hope man. what's so different??

Gtown
Saturday, September 17 2005 at 08:00 PM

I'm not sure what you mean by "less competitive"... the overall numbers for Gtown PT are slightly lower if that's what you mean. Mainly I applied PT at the schools where I could (and which I did not think would give me any $$$) since I have a career that I can continue PT during school to keep down my debt. I spent a lot of time on my essays and have big soft factors... many years of community service and stuff like journalism and founding an ongoing community group, as well as a successful career in technology.

can you really apply to TOO many schools? i always thought, the more the merrier. and the acceptance letters are a huge plus, no matter where they come from. at any rate, congrats on your acceptances and good luck on pending apps.

Schools
Saturday, September 17 2005 at 08:00 PM

I think applying to too many safeties is a waste... if you are above the 75th percentile you are probably going to get in, so just choose a few you'd really attend. For reaches there's more of an argument for applying to lots...

Lots of withdraw's

Is there a method to your madness? what school are you favoring?

Duke rent
Thursday, September 08 2005 at 08:00 PM

good point about the rent.. I'm a little confused though because the overall cost (tuition + COL) is the same for Duke and GULC, despite the lower rent in Durham. Weird!

Duke vs. GULC (cont.)
Thursday, September 08 2005 at 08:00 PM

Yeah, I know what your saying, but that's why I'm so confused. On the cost of attendence sheet I was sent along with my admission to Duke, they list their TOTAL cost as $52,000.. GULC lists their as $53,000. Just food for thought.

Rent in Durham

I doubt you are going to find a decent place in Durham for 500. I lived there 7 years ago, and 620/1bdrm (small apartment-great location, kinda safe)

Tulane!

Congrats on your decision, and see you in New Orleans!

A host of reasons. When I started this process, I had one friend living there and two likely moving there (DC). Now the one friend has moved away and the two friends are not moving there. Also, cost of living is a lot higher in DC than I had thought. If I want to spend that much, I may as well stay in SF. I was not overly blown away by the GW event I attended. Not that it was terrible. You just get the sense that the school is keenly aware of its status as below lots of other schools. And ditto the students. Hate to say it, but I almost got the feeling that some of the people considered themselves "losers" for going there. Not really a vibe that I liked.

Congrats! I'm wondering how you found out? The status checker hasn't been updated since 4/25, so I'm guessing you got an e-mail? I'm dying to hear from davis and hastings, so any info is very appreciated. Thanks! holly
