Additional info & updates

Choice rank = Chiashu %.
Scholarship amount = total for 3 yrs.

03/28/08: Columbia sent an email talking about my situation (being on hold). What? I never got a hold letter! Cycle ovr, man.

03/10/08: Got an "on hold" letter from Chicago. Suggested I write an essay on one of three prompts. That's a deferral, right?

03/03/08: In at UCLA via phonecall.

02/22/08: in @ USC

02/05/08: UT offered $7k/year as well as resident tuition - a similar offer to W&M's. That means it would cost me only around $11k/year to attend there.. sigh.

01/31/08: In at UT via phone call (they left a voicemail).

01/23/08: In at Cardozo with Paulsen scholarship (full tuition & stipend). Hmm.

01/04/08: Visited Berkeley (and the rest of the bay area) before the new year. Loved it, am stoked.

So what happens now? I'm going to start withdrawing in a couple of weeks, though I'm waiting to hear from a few other schools. Almost thinking of applying to Cornell and Penn and Michigan, which all sent me fee waivers recently, just to keep my options open.

12/28/07: Accepted to GULC via an envelope the size of 3 hydrogen atoms laid end to end.

Also, my acceptance package from Berkeley came on the 26th - with the pretty Cal folder all crushed by my mailman.

12/23/07: Beginning to regret not applying to NYU. Think it's too late? Also I took away my numbers completely because.. because. Will add them & my real ECs when I hear from a few more schools ;)

12/20/07: IN AT BOALT VIA EMAIL OHHHHHH MY CHRIST

12/13/07: W&M acceptance via snail mail, large FedEx envelope. Offered $17,000/yr and a fellowship (they'd give me in-state tuition + $4k stipend + another 3k). Pretty psyched.

12/06/07: Cycle off to a tepid start with a waitlisting from Duke. Uh.. fuck.

12/06/07: UT status checker says I'm complete.. cool?

12/04/07: Pressed send on Columbia and predicting it to be the speediest rejection of the lot. Pressed send and sent in my certifying statements to UW and USC. Applied to Cardozo and W&M last night after looking over their viewbooks.

12/03/07: It's December?

11/26/07: Pressed send on Boalt. This is me dreaming a little dream.

11/24/07: After weeks and weeks and weeks of totally avoiding anything related to law school, I pressed "send" on UCLA, Chicago, Texas, and Gtown. Both my LORs have been sent to LSAC, too; just waiting for them to be received and processed..

11/03/07: Michigan fee waiver, snail mail. Convinced me to apply!

10/31/07: Harvard spammed me today. Whatever, Toby.

10/29/07: Chicago fee waiver. :)!

10/25/07: Transmitted Duke application; still waiting on LORs.

10/24/07: UCLA FEE WAIVER! Mmm.

10/23/07: LSAC finally receives my CC transcript. Amusingly, that extra .03 gave me a weird little boost in Chiashu numbers. Fee waiver & priority track invitation from Duke (!!! :D).

10/22/07: Columbia fee waiver by e-mail! Well, that was nice of them. I've heard some cynical ideas about fee waivers, but right now it just means 70 more bucks in my pocket. Also, somewhat less thrillingly, a U. St. Thomas fee waiver.

Congrats on your Sept LSAT score, although I know you were hoping for 170+. I scored a 168 and am seriously considering retaking...scholarship $$$ is a significant concern for me. What are your thoughts? Either way, best of luck in this cycle! :)

hey stevens! i'm not trying to stay in cali necessarily, but i want to have some options for staying once decisions start stomping in. i'll probably choose from between Hastings and Davis to apply to as a CA safety. most of the t14 seems like a long shot to me.

your apps
Wednesday, October 03 2007 at 08:00 PM

T14 is long shot? Certainly the bottom 4 are givens. Probably more, especially with the high GPA. Anyway dude, you should get all your apps out! What's the holdup!?

I always knew Boalt was a smart and sophisticated school. As a matter of fact, I think Boalt is also a very attractive and desirable school. :-) Hehe. Congrats. They really are smart if they saw what a great candidate you are. I'm sure many more will, too.

Grats on Boalt!

"Ugrayedd," which he spells thusly, for a double dose of his pimping. Good luck on the rest of your cycle. I hope Boalt let's me in... but it would be hell for me to choose between Boalt and NYU

ASD?
Monday, January 07 2008 at 07:00 PM

I do plan on going. You? And you liked Berkeley? My decision is going to be between Berkeley, NYU, and maybe Columbia it looks like... unless someone throws a scholarship in the mix and makes it even harder!

Way to go!
Sunday, February 18 2007 at 07:00 PM

Congrats on GULC and Boalt and best of luck for the rest of this cycle! :)
