Good luck this cycle! We are applying to a lot of the same schools and have similar numbers. Where did you do your undergrad? What is your top choice?
Congratulations on Samford!
Thank you. :) Let's hope we *both* do!
They sent me an e-mail telling me I was accepted and told me the packet was in the mail. Thanks for the congratulations... Good luck to you!
yeah, I was pretty upset about the wait list. I talked to them on the phone and e-mailed the assistant dean and they all sounded pretty optimistic about my chances. Congrats on Samford, I just applied there. I also just visited South Carolina law and took a tour, I would love to get in there. Any other updates on your cycle? Good luck again man.
Are you interested in Ole Miss as a top choice? It's becoming a top for me b/c of the price for out of state tuition. Idk if my #'s will be enough...
Huge bump for instate apps. So it should come as no surprise that you didn't get in.
we got pretty similar numbers for CUA. Good luck! I hope I hear good news! Why CUA though? What are your interests?
Yeah I hope you get in. It will be good news for me and you! Yeah I applied pt cause I think I will fare better. Your thoughts on pt being easier to get into? I know schools say there is no difference but the numbers speak differently.
So sorry to hear about CUA. Looks like you have other options though, and I'm sure you'll hear back plenty more good news! Did you hear via email or letter? I keep hearing conflicting stories; some people get email, some mail, some both. No idea what to expect!
you think you would have had a better chance if you had applied part time?
Congrats on the acceptance for a first choice! Also kudos for going ahead and freeing some spots up at other schools.
Honestly, I visited Ole Miss last year and really loved the campus (and the new law building is going to be awesome) but this is my second cycle (WL at Ole Miss last year) and to be honest if I don't get into my top schools, I'll probably wait another year. Congrats on U of L, I know a lot of people at Brandeis and I have heard nothing but great things. Are you still waiting on Tennessee?
I'm not sure about retaking, I haven't really thought that far--I'm really banking on Tennessee. I did my undergrad at Kentucky and a few friends of mine go to Brandeis. Are you still considering Ole Miss?
State school in Mississippi? Which one?
Well I got a little trigger happy in applying to reach schools, and I definitely don't plan on getting into Wake or NC. After UT, maybe SC (but tuition is really expensive), maybe LSU but doubtful, maybe Brandeis (if I could get in-state). Are you considering anywhere else or is it basically UT/U of L?
Just some friendly advice, if you really want UT, you should visit Knoxville and the law school. I got WL last year and visited, and that's what I'm banking on. SC would definitely give you more options (the idea of Charleston is pretty awesome), but that tuition is pretty high. I don't know how familiar you are with Kentucky or other cities, but Brandeis would set you up alright with pretty much anywhere in KY (although BigLaw wise, there's not much outside of Lex/Lou/NKY).
I went to Ole Miss for undergrad and graduated in '08. I could see myself going back to Oxford, but I'm not sure about the rest of the state. There are only a few places in Mississippi where I could see myself living permanently. I moved to Arizona for a year after I graduated and I'd much rather head back there. What about you?
I guess Knoxville is kinda far from Oxford but if you can make the trip, it would probably help. One of the things they want is someone who will attend if offered and touring and meeting with Ms. Britton is definitely a way to get that across. Did your status checker change today? Mine is still Review but the date changed.
It still says "Review" but the date changed to yesterday. LSN says no one has received a decision in a while, so we'll see. Last year I got WL in early April, and I visited in mid-May and waited it out. Obviously I didn't make it, but they said they would potentially keep the WL until August (with movement in late May and early July). Might be worth a phone call to Ms. Britton to get some info.
How did you hear back from them? Status checker or did they send an email? Congrats!
As far as I know there is no requirement that I have to meet to keep my 2K scholarship to Idaho. Congrats on yours as well.
I am so excited about LSU. Congrats to you on Louisville. Im glad we both got into one of our top choices. Now i just want South Carolina do give us their decision already.
Im really not sure. I would be very happy if i had to make my decision between LSU, USC, and Georgia State. It would require a final visit to all three with tours and all sorts of stuff to really get a feel for the schools. And i think you have a pretty good shot to get into USC considering the Louisville acceptance. At worst you will get a waitlist. Feels damn good to get into a top choice.
When I visited USC a lot of the students I talked to that were out of state said that they talked them into giving them instate. Only a few people I talked to were actually paying out of state.
Congrats on Stetson! Any other updates?
Hey, Congratulations on Stetson! I was curious what the envelope looked like (big or little)
Did you happen to get an email when the status checker changed?
Last I heard they were mailing out some more letters this week. Did you check to see if you had a letter on the way before withdrawing? It looks like you have quite a few options though. So best of luck to you with the other schools on your list!
If I had the option to go anywhere geographically, I would certainly go for Wake and many others. My husband has a successful biz in the RDU area. Without this income, we cannot afford law school. Also our oldest is in high school, and we would not want to move him into a new environment at this time. So geographically, the four schools I applied to are the only ones that will work. But thanks for the push. Duke would be great..yet, there has been no activity on my application lately :-( So with the schools you have remaining, what are your favorites?
I am not sure. When I first started my apps, Campbell was my first choice. Its close to my home, I love the facilities, bar passage rate, small size, and just the general feel of the school. But the price is TOO HIGH in comparison to in-state tuition at UNC/NCCU. So I probably would not pay more to go to Campbell when I could go to a more prestigious school like UNC for less (or an equally tiered school like NCCU for a fraction of the cost). Full scholly at Campbell would make me think long and hard. But it doesn't look like they give out too many of those. Still not sure. Would love to hear from Duke b4 I start thinking about withdrawing from any school. It looks like you have a few schools that are still on your list too. Deciding is tough, but its great to have options!
Thanks! I'd probably go with LSU over memphis. I go to school in memphis right now, and I don't really like the city very much. plus, I feel like LSU has a better reputation in LA than Memphis does in TN
My status checker went blank last Tuesday, and at the top just said that a "status update has been mailed to you". That message changed on Wednesday and said I had been waitlisted, then I received the letter in the mail on Friday.
Ole Miss is starting to piss me off. What is their deal? They must be really thinking very hard about our applications. And SC must be putting some time into yours too.
I actually called Ole Miss today and they told me I should have a decision by next Friday when the committee meets again. She told me to call back then.
Keep your hopes up for USC. Good luck!
Congrats on FIU and on the $$ from Chase. Should help get some $ at Louisville. Still going to hold out for SC or Ole Miss?
Did the same thing. Called, no answer, left message, not returned. They are basically off my list. And i couldnt imagine it being an acceptance at this point even though i feel that we should both be accepted.
I called Ole Miss once a week from the time my application got in then I went to see Charan Gurley, which I highly recommend. She is the nicest lady and is really helpful! They sent me a packet Saturday and called to say I was admitted today (she didn't know I lived so close I guess). Good luck, it will be nice to have some Ole Miss alumns around in the Fall!
She has a desk in the admissions office right at the front, just park at the Alumni house and go up the stairs. She is pretty much the nicest person ever so if you have any questions she'll be more than happy to help you out. Barbara Vinson is really great too so you have nothing to lose by going by!
So I was waitlisted today at Ole Miss. Kinda surprising. But I called this morning and Barbara Vinson answered the phone and told me, so it might be worth a shot for you to call today. I told her i do not want to accept my spot.
Congrats! Im glad one of us got in. For you, you can't beat the Ole Miss proce tag being a resident.
Dude congrats on Ole Miss, I can't believe it took this long. Any idea whether you'll go there or Louisville?
Well KU is considering me for a pretty solid scholarship so I'm back to square one. Might head out and visit Lawrence soon. No deposit at UT due until May, also trying to get more $$ there. Let me know what you think of Louisville and KY in general.
I'm definitely going to Ole Miss, no money from Loyola but I'm really okay with that. The more I thought about it the more I realized I'm not ready to leave Oxford or SEC football quite yet
on Ole Miss! I bet that'll be hard to pass up as a mississippi resident. How does it compare with the other schools you've gotten in to for you?
honestly I'm not real sure at this point. The scholarship from lsu makes the cost about the same as UT, and I really like baton rouge. however,UT still hasn't accepted me yet. They sent me some weird "are you still interested in us?" email 2 weeks ago and I haven't heard from then since. I think I'd go with UT if they end up accepting me but lsu is a good alternative
Thanks, I'm excited..never been to Oxford but will be there Friday for ASD. PM me if you know of any good areas for houses, as well as any must see things while I'm in town.
Thanks for the heads up! Good luck at Ole Miss!
Haha - glad you got the reference. So many good rhymes on that album: "Rapid fire louie like Rambo got bullets, I'm a die harder like my kid Bruce Willis" Thanks for the congrats, and same to you! Have fun at Ole Miss
Congrats on Ole Miss, keep me posted on how things go during 1L
Thanks. I received it through email, but I think they generally come by snail mail. Good luck.
