Unfortunately, that's about it. Seems like most ppl here have more impressive bios. I did write a pretty good personal statement, statement of purpose (personalized for each and every school), and resume...hopefully it's enough to wow someone into accepting me. =P

Why oh why did I perform so poorly on the LSAT? =(

Additional info & updates

Santa Clara waived my app fee even though I applied late and never requested it. I called to ask why, but the lady I spoke to said that it was based on GPA and LSAT scores. Strange...since they're both mediocre. I hope they're not waiving fees to attract more applicants only to reject them. It would raise their rankings, but that's just cruel....

After reviewing some of the applicants here, I'm thinking maybe I should of applied to more "safety" schools...screw it...if I'm going to cough up another $60 for a 4th tier school I've never even heard of before today (Chapman, anyone?), it had better be at a location I find desirable to live, like SF (explains the app to GG). I never even knew there were so many law schools in CA. I don't know...should I be sending my app to all these schools I have no intention of attending?

I need to stop obsessing about this appl process and just go to my happy zen place.

1/12/07: Last app sent to USD today. Know it's a long shot, but I'd rather spend my money on an app to a place worth attending. Here's to hoping....

1/15/07: This is the last application. Sent it to Whittier since my LSAT score makes me nervous. I want to get accpeted to at least ONE school. Where the heck is Whittier anyways?

1/25/07: Got an email from USF that my file is now complete. Seems pretty quick, hopefully it's not a bad thing. This waiting period is driving me crazy.

2/17/07: Just got back from vacation. Went to my mailbox and saw a thin envelope from Whittier. It's an acceptance letter, even offering a little scholarship money. That's nice, even though I doubt I will attend. I hope this is the beginning of a trend. Let's get some good news from Santa Clara!

3/12/07: Rejected at USF. This sucks because now I feel my chances of getting into any second tier school is nil. If I don't get into Santa Clara I might have to take the LSAT again. I do NOT want to go to Whittier.

4/12/07: When I saw a thin white envelope from Southwestern, I felt nauseated. Ding at Southwestern. This is a third tier school...I thought at least I would get waitlisted. Whatever...I didn't want to live in LA anyways.

4/15/07: Ding from Loyola. Can't say I was surprised. However, I am still mildly bitter over Southwestern.

4/23/07: Finally some good news. An acceptance from Golden Gate. Not exactly the best law school, but it is better than Whittier and it's in the bay area. It's possible I'll go here if I get rejected from everywhere else (which looks likely). I could always transfer after a year.

4/25/07: I received a thin envelope from California Western and I thought it was a rejection for sure. My ego was about to be bruised, but lo and behold it was an acceptance letter. I still plan to go to GG, but it's nice to know I have an option to attend a school that isn't on ABA probation. Whoopee....

4/27/07: Ding at University of San Diego.

4/07/07: Waitlisted at UOP. Although it's not an acceptance, I am ecstatic that it's not a rejection. Finally, a chance at a T2 school! Now the waiting is going to be rough.

5/15/07: Ding at Pepperdine. No surprise there. I've visited a restaurant/bar called Pepperdine...the food sucked and the bar was pretty cheesy.

5/30/07: They saved the best for last. Waitlisted at Santa Clara! Wow. This is my dream school and I was expecting a rejection, which is why I stopped checking the mail. I pray I get in...it would be a miracle.

hang in there

good things will happen. the way i see it is that if you do not get into your top choices you can always regroup and either apply in a few years or do something else. I am a firm believer in optimism, and whatever is best for you will be given to you. this is not to say that fate controls our lives, but rather we as humans often tend to make the best of what happens to us and make it work. you will get into a good school, i can feel it.

Wow

We're truly identical law school candidates! Good luck on Santa Clara. I too received a app. fee waiver and my numbers are not that good. I am going to watch your progress.

They actually asked me to re-take the Feb. LSAT. So I assume that they will be using the February score. Good luck with all your apps, it seems we applied at a lot of the same schools.

Hey thanks! Yeah I know that I'm going to law school this fall for sure. You're right about Southwestern. Given that I am accepted to both SW and Chapman, I'm definately choosing SW. Chapman is a decent school but it's just too new and the job prospect is limited in LA. Chapman waitlisted me and I do know that SW has a slightly higher admission standard than Chapman so I'm crossing my finger. But then again, I just got waitlisted at Loyola Chicago, a decent t2 (70th) so I guess you never know what's going to happen. Hope you get some acceptances soon especially at SC!

thanks...

for dropping by and the words of encouragement. It's really hard not to lose hope; my LSAT score is pathetic compared to my cousins' (who both scored a 180). By the way, don't sell yourself short. You have amazing ecs, which will get you in to at least some of the schools you applied for. Don't settle/apply to the schools you have no intention of attending, that's just wasting money. If you don't get in this year (and that is a big IF), you can always apply again next year with a higher LSAT score. I will definitely be keeping my fingers crossed for you. Good luck!

Thanks

Thanks for the comment on my page. I sincerely hope you get into SCU as well. I know how stressful the process is. Just take it one walk to the mailbox at a time. :)

good luck on Santa Clara

I applied too, but as a long shot. Are you familiar with the area at all? is it expensive to live around there?

Slow CA schools
Monday, October 02 2006 at 08:00 PM

Wow California schools are taking so long to get back to us. You must be nervous.

Willamette
Monday, October 02 2006 at 08:00 PM

From what I have been accepted so far, Willamette is my biggest contender. Lately I've been falling back in love with the Northwest. Nevertheless, I'd still like to hear from some Californian schools. I hope they speed up on your applications since your focus is on Cali schools. My guess is that they should get back to you at least before April 1, when seat deposits are due at many schools. Otherwise, it will be pretty jacked up.

hey froufrou yea damn usf! haha. anyways, the sw admissions lady called me and asked if i would accept and i said yes. a week later, i got the large envelope.

USF

Sorry to hear about USF. Why are Californian schools take so long?

SW
Monday, October 02 2006 at 08:00 PM

Hehe it's fine. I expected the rejection letter from SCU anyway. I can live with it. You asked me if SW is better than CW. Yes, I think so. Unless SD is your only destination, I think SW will serve you better in Southern California, especially in Los Angeles. SW is a T3 and its reputation has been rising recently. However either school has a high attrition rate and a low forced curve. If you make it, you will be very successful coming out of SW. I'm not so sure how competitive SD legal market is. It probably is considering how beautiful SD is and everyone wants to live there. I would go to SW over CW.

Wishing you the best...

i know exactly how you feel. i was quite traumatized by the number of rejections I received, even though I knew they were long shots. if you don't get into the schools you want this year, you can always reapply next year...it's not the end of the world. Just be sure to take the lsat again. However, i'm still holding out hope for you. there are still many schools to hear from. i'm sure you'll get in. i believe in you!

Good luck with the remainder of your pendings. Remember, you can always transfer after 1L! There are so many options for you that you shouldn't stress yourself. Everything will work out!!

USF

Thanks for the comment. Any news from SCU?

still hope
Sunday, June 11 2006 at 08:00 PM

Hi! At least there's still some hope for you, since you haven't heard back from a lot of schools yet. Would you go to UoP if you're accepted there? I'm strongly leaning towards just taking the LSAT again. I know my score could be much, much higher. Anyhoo, good luck!

Southwestern!
Wednesday, October 11 2006 at 08:00 PM

sorry to hear about SW... did you apply for the FT or PT program? If you applied for PT I'm so sorry a 2.5 index should have gotten you waitlisted at the very least. Hang in there and GL with the rest of your apps!

deposit
Saturday, April 07 2007 at 08:00 PM

I dont think the deposit is refundable. I was going to just leave the deposit, but then decided to withdraw since I dont plan on going there, since its in so cali and I dont want to live there. I lived there all my life and ive had enough of the place =) ... This process is driving me crazy as well and I dont want to take the lsat again. I was thinking maybe ill transfer after a year.

Hey
Monday, October 02 2006 at 08:00 PM

Hey you still got Pepperdine, McGeorge and SC to hear from. Those are T2. I think you will also get into California Western for 100%. They will probably throw you some money. I don't plan on going to SW anyway. I used to live nearby... and the area is pretty ghetto.

thanks
Tuesday, February 20 2007 at 07:00 PM

hang in there, there's still hope. Good luck!

congrats
Wednesday, May 09 2007 at 08:00 PM

congratulations ! igot rejected from southwestern as well lol..but m on the waitlist for USF, and TjSL don't know about the waitlist game but ll just rough it out. we applied to alot of the same schools.

SC
Monday, October 02 2006 at 08:00 PM

Wow, I'm really happy for you that you got waitlisted at SC! I'm crossing my fingers for you. Please get into this school and show the world there are more important qualities than mere numbers in applicants who deserve to go to a good school. Good luck!

UOP vs SCU
Tuesday, February 20 2007 at 07:00 PM

If money was no object I would be going to SCU. However, I have 3 dogs and I would have had to pay a fortune to rent something near Santa Clara. Sacramento has much more rental inventory and has a higher vacancy rate which keeps rent low. Have you made a decision?

still there?
Tuesday, December 26 2006 at 07:00 PM

did u get into scu? or did u retake the lsat? let me know how things are.
