I don't have a real #1. Obviously, I would love to go to a top school where just by going there you will get a great job. At this point it really depends on who will give me the most money, including in the financial aid package. The truth is a lot of these schools aren't worth the investment unless you go there for free or really discounted. I am open to go anywhere basically.
Unfortunately, I dont think we are considered a minority in terms of AA. However, I wouldn't worry... it must count for something that were not the traditional applicant, especially since we have good extracurriculars. Good luck... :) btw, i applied ED to American!
How long was your "miision statement" essay? I wrote mine yesterday mine is a little over 1 page double spaced. they didn't specify right?
Done some reading on minority status with regards to law schools, and from the very little of what I have read, I believe that A) people of Middle Eastern decent are a minority (Asian I believe), but B) Asians are not an underrepresented minority group in the legal field. I have even read some material which seems to suggest that Asians are even at a disadvantage and adversely discriminated against in the admission process. Seems that Asians are overrepresented at many law schools. Though I bet a solid case could be made that your actually African American, as Egypt is located in Africa.
Congrats on OSU. Good luck on the rest!
I have heard it's because they want to find out more about you. I interviewed with an alumna, but actually live in DC. The alumna and I talked more about the practice than the study of law, so we'll see how that pans out. My theory is they were on the fence about admitting me full time, and wanted to gauge my interest in going part time. We'll see.
Hey there, congrats! Must have been a great phone call to get on a Thursday afternoon! Good luck the rest of the cycle!
Congrats on Loyola! Got my call 2day too!
Loyola! nice! We have similar #'s. I hope I get the call tomorrow! good work on the scholarship!
We have a lot of similar schools. Big congrats on Loyola. Thats my top choice!
Congrats on Ohio State! We have identical numbers so I am hoping that my soft factors give me a boost too! Just curious to know if there is anything special to add to my application that may give it an extra boost and hopefully a few acceptances. Thanks and good luck!
congrats on Ohio State. can I pls ask you something. Did you ask for the interview at georgetown? and was it over the phone? what kind of questions did they ask?.
Does attending law school at La bother anyone else but me? Not sure if this is sheer ignorance, but doesn't Louisana rely more than any other state on the Code Law System, as opposed to the Common Law system? I know according to the constitution all courts are made inferior to the Supreme Court and their rulings, but has any one else wondered about the possible differences when studying for the bar in their own home state? If nothing else ppl in La live in parishes, and that just about summarizes my knowledge of the legal system in La, but again remember, I proclaimed my at the onset of this message. So humm, anyone have any thoughts on this matter??
If you go to LSU you get a JD just like everybody else but you also get another professional degree in civil law (or as you have more appropriately referred to as code law). I was worried about this for a while but then realized that if you get a JD you're good to go anywhere and to be honest studying for the bar isn't really what you learn in school (this is my understanding from practicing attorneys I have talked with). Hope that helps.
Yeah I did alittle research into this and discovered that like all other schools in the country schools in La teach the same courses as all other schools in the country are mandated to teach, requirement for ABA accreditation. I know a degree from LSU was definately a respectable JD degree, I was just worried about the possible implications of studying for the bar.. Now I know it's all the same..
so, who called you from the osu law? great job..
how did you go about asking for interview at georgetown,? do you live in the DC area? what type of questions did they ask? If you dont mind sharing this info I would really appreciate it!!
I have you on my watchlist because we have similar stats and applying to some of the same schools. Have any of the schools already requested your packet from lsac?
