ADDITIONAL INFO & UPDATES

6/26/10 - WL from Dayton. Recieved final decision from MC, rejected. Not sure if I will accept WL from Dayton or not. Still leaning in the not going to LS at the present moment right now though.

5/6/10 - wow a whole month without an update, lol. Got a letter from ONU, waitlisted. I have to send in a LOCI to stay on the wl and then I would know by the 31st of the final decision. I am really torn on this one. I have a really good friend that goes there, that's why I applied. But COA puts it around the same as ASL, taking out 1st yr loans of about 50 grand. I read an article today on the WSJ and someone from the ABA actually said that they don't recommend someone going to law school right now. I just checked, ONU raised their tutition for 2010-2011 school yr - just shy of 31,000 (I believe it was either 26 or 28,000 previously, damn) Ah so conflicted!

4/2/10 - FCSL's Steve Jones just emailed me for the AAMPLE Program. I simply replied No Thank You.

3/31/10 - Ouch FCSL dinged me. And Dayton is still in review (going on 12 weeks now)

I visited Grundy and ASL over this past weekend, and as much as some of the aspects of the school appeal to me, it's looking more and more like LS right now isn't for me. COA 1st yr - 50,000 so from an investment point of view (this is also coming from the attorneys I work for) taking that massive amount of loans, they just didn't see how I could do it. neither could I. Esp after I had this weird thought after the mock 1st yr class, I'd rather teach. And after more thought, I see myself moving into an administrative role so..... probably going to go back for my M.Ed. I'm still relatively young, and in a few years or 10, I could always try again.

3/16/10 - FCSL status date changed to today's date but it's still in review. Ggggrrr!

3/8/10 - called Dayton again today, it is still in review. AH!! The lady gave me the assistant director's email and said I should contact him. I did, no reply yet. FCSL is still in review. No change still from ONU - probably not going to be for a couple of months like they said, double AH!

3/4/10 - letter from UDC, as expected - didn't get in =[

3/2/10 - checked UDC status online, decision rendered. Now waiting for the letter (don't think it is good news). Called Dayton today to find out the status of my file. It is in review and has been since the first week of Jan. I asked the lady how long files stay in review and she said 6-8 weeks so I should be receiving a decision soon since this is week 8 (i've heard that one before but we'll see) Hoping to hear something from them soon! Dayton isn't that far and I know how to get there, RT 35 the whole way! Plus my BFF lives in Cincy. Need to send my deposit into ASL soon. Still trying to figure out which paycheck to do that with since I still have to buy my Rock on the Range tix. If Im attending law school this fall, I'll be damned if I don't get to go to my rock concert first! lol =)

2/25/10 - spoke to someone at ONU about my file. The median score they are seeing for their incoming class is a 154 and since I'm kinda far from that I might not see a decision for 2 mos or so. Also for the SSP they are looking for people with gpas 3.5 or above. She went on to say that u could get called for an interview but the tone was kinda iffy. Errr! For FCSL still in review but now AAMPLE is gone and replaced with accepted seat deposit, pre register deposit, deposit, and tutition. Again confused. Anyone having this happen?

2/24/10 - got my letter from MCSOL, they haven't reached a final decision on my file and is still under consideration, will receive final decision by May 1. So thats what waitlisted is. FCSL still is under review but the first and second seat deposit disappeared and were replaced with AAMPLE deposit and tutition. hum... weird. I haven't gotten a letter or email from them either. Gonna call ONU tomorrow to find out the status of my file, come on people you have had it for 4 mos even if you didn't start reviewing files until after the first of the year.

2/20/10 - well I decided to check my status late late tonight and found out I didn't get into WVU, well damn that just sucks!
Anyways - GO TEAM USA!

2/19/10 - waitlisted at Mississippi College. Guess it's better than a flat out no.

2/16/10 - got my rejection letter from Capital, kind of figured. Had two emails from WVU - first - reply from my email. Files stay in review for about 4 weeks. "But with our new system and the snow it has taken too long. Hopefully, decision should be out soon. Sorry for the delay." second email was a move of the deadline due to weather related closings. I think its funny that two of the schools I applied to at the first of the year have gotten back to me before the two schools I applied to back in Sept.

2/15/10 - I just received an email from WVU regarding status checker. I had already received the exact same email 2 mos ago (although this one didn't have the temp password but the one I created) I emailed the lady back asking about the review process and such (because the email stated that after the file is complete
"Then we will to review your file materials which usually takes a couple of days and then we update your online status" - well my file has been in review for 19 days including weekends)
- Mail didn't run today so no letter from Capital yet, probably tomorrow and still doubtful its good news.
- Found out from ONU's chat that on the ASO the status will stay at application complete until a decision is rendered. Nice to know.

2/11/10 - Capital says decision rendered, letter in the mail (probably a denial or wl, it was a long shot one, but I am still hoping)

2/10/10 - ACCEPTED to ASL!!! I can't believe I got a decision this quick!! On top of the world right now! 1 down 7 more to go! Hopefully more acceptances in my future!! But I'm at least going to law school in the fall!

2/9/10 - file in review at ASL, guess they found the missing documents.

2/4/10 - fie in review at Capital. ASL status checker says file incomplete, but on the requirements list there is a check mark besided everything so I have no idea what is missing. No reply yet from admissions office. =( WVU still in review (praying praying please please) And yet another snow storm on its way to the area Fri/Sat. Why did the groundhog have to see his shadow!

2/1/10 - file was already in review at WVU, but the date changed from 1/27/10 to todays date. So confused!!! Just wish I knew already!! In state school and I actually want to stay in WV.

1/27/10 - WVU is in review.

1/26/10 - File under review at FCSL. Soooo nervous. Say a little prayer for me. I wonder how long files stay in review?

1/19/10 - File complete at Mississippi College

1/12/10 - File complete at UDC. (Still nothing from ONU or WVU, files have been complete for 3 mos so much for the advice to apply early)

1/8/10 - UDC received app, so has Appalachian and Dayton. Decided to apply to Miss. oh as for my previous statement about WVU, they fixed it. Suppose to be check marks beside what was listed, lol. On a side note - It is absolutely freezing where I live! 13 degrees (feels -1) not a big fan of this really cold weather!

1/5/10 - FCSL app status changed, file complete ready to be reviewed!

12/30/09 - received email from Florida Coastal application received. =)

12/28/09 - received email from ONU regarding status checker.

12/23/09 - received an email from WVU admissions office regarding holiday break and file updates. Still says complete but now there is information in the reguirement list. A little confused by that since my file is complete and she won't be back in the office until the 4th for me to ask her.

Hey thanks for the luck and yeah I got my undergrad from WVU but I won't hate on Marshall this once. :-) ... WVU does tend to be extremely slow reviewing applications from what I've heard so good luck hopefully you get good news soon!

Unfortunatley I can't withdraw my app just yet. My wife has family from Morgantown so there is a vested interest there. I will say that if (and that's still if) I get in I will be sure to make as speedy a decision as I possibly can concerning that acceptance. I hope this helps, and best luck with all your apps! I'll keep my fingers crossed on WVU for you.

Sorry about WVU. You might not be missing much though, if their admissions process is indicative of their law school quality. None of my emails have been returned and all I have gotten is a cryptic piece of mail that says I'm not in or out. Good luck on the rest of your admission cycle.

  • Wednesday, March 31 2010 at 12:38 PM

Yea dont worry about FCSL. I asked them why I got dinged and they gave me a stupid response of how they have a lot of ppl to pick from with higher stats. The good news is that you got into Appalachin. I dont have one positive response yet. I decided to apply to a few more schools and will try again if i dont get into somewhere. this stupid economy has everyone running back to school. plus ppl with excellent scores are applying to easy schools to get more scholarship, while making it harder for you and I to get in. All i got to say is keep your head up and ull figure something out, whether it involves law school or not

My guess is that there won't be any movement on it until April 15th or later. I called ONU on Monday to see what "Waitlist Accepted" meant and no one returned my call. Go figure that seems to be the trend with all of these law schools. Dayton returns calls half of the time, and ONU and District always send me to voice mail. I also called Dayton and they said I was still in review with the committee so it could be 6-8 additional weeks. It was 6 weeks ago the last time I called. Oie. I feel like they are waiting to see how many people with an LSAT above 150 are accepting before they notify anyone under 150. Who knows its just my personal theory :) So what is your current game plan?
