12/12/07: American is my first T1 acceptance! When I began this law school journey, way back in '04, it was my top choice. I dared not dream of higher ranked schools. But thanks to amazing resources like and, I have realized my worth as a candidate. Here's to more acceptances and scholarships!

#'s are fake, btw.

1/24/08: Emboldened by my GW acceptance, I have sent out my very last app, a super reach if there ever was one. But if a girl sitting on a T-25 acceptance in January can't dream, who can? If I can catch T-14 waitlist, I'll sit on it all damn summer.

By the way, I can't figure out how to make LSN show two cycles for me. But for anyone interested, I applied in 06-07 to McGeorge (UoP), GGU and Loyola Los Angeles. I got into all three and I must say, what a long strange trip it has been. My cycle's not over yet but it appears that taking some time and re-applying was the right choice.

There's also a myth circulating that once you're below a school's 25%, it doesn't matter really how far below you are. I'm going to test this theory to the fullest.

2/11/08--Hilariously, in at Villanova. I checked my status checker and discovered that they had sent my letter, weeks ago, to some miscellaneous wrong address. I set them straight, they gave me my decision and hopefully some $$$ are forthcoming!

2/13/08--Letter arrived frm Villanova--small envelope. No $$ yet.

2/14/08--In at USF, finally. But not nearly as exciting as discovering that my app is on hold at NYU. Come on NYU! I love you! I'll attend and pay sticker! Love me!

2/15/08--Also exciting--25K a year from USF.

2/25/08--Rejection from NYU. It smarts slightly.

3/07/08--Waitlisted at Emory. Withdrawing.

3/08/08--The cycle has taken a vicious turn! Out at my number one crush, Georgetown. Unlikely T-14 dreams now hinge on UVA. I can't rightfully complain but I will anyway. In better news, though somewhat less relevant, in at Temple with 15k a year with 2.5 GPA. Nice. Wish it had arrived on another day!

3/31/08--Withdrawals galore! And don't it feel good? I would give my first born for UVA or UC Hastings/UC Davis. Otherwise, it looks like I'm headed to D.C! Go team, George Washington!

4/3/08--In at Hastings! It feels incredible!

4/11/08--Rejected at Davis! MY CYCLE IS OVER!!!!

Additional info & updates

$$$ over three years.

I WILL BE AT HASTINGS IN THE FALL! I am so happy and so proud. My cycle has had its highs and lows but overall, I am so happy that I did another cycle. To go from last year when I was going to attend UOP, to this year when I will attend Hastings shows that hard work and persistence really do pay off. Woo! For any Bay Area people, UC grads or URMs who read this profile, feel free to hit me up.

i am sure you will get in somewhere.

Congrats on American. Check off URM status so it helps other URMs with seeing trends. I've been searching every school I applied to a million times over and it's definitely helped me. I hope I get an acceptance from American as well. We have similar numbers so here's hoping.

Friday, December 21 2007 at 03:07 AM

Thanks, and congrats on your LSAT score.

Wednesday, December 26 2007 at 06:32 PM

On American!! The first one feels great no?

Saturday, January 05 2008 at 09:05 AM

As a blk female to another, what were some of the soft points that you used? How did you prepare? Any pointers whatsoever?

Re: Good Job!

Thanks for the congrats. You say your numbers are fake so I can't give any input about what I think. But if we do have similar numbers, I have no doubt you're a very competitive candidate at Emory, considering blacks get a bigger URM boost. Here's hoping you get in! And nope, it still says complete. I got the phone call out of the blue without much expectance. It was one of the most pleasant surprises in my life.

Good Luck

I'm sure you will get into a top school if your numbers are anywhere close to those that you posted. Good Luck!

Re: Congrats
Thursday, January 10 2008 at 03:59 PM

Thanks! I was nervous before but this has been a good week. Congrats to you on your acceptance to American. I know you'll get in GW!

Thursday, January 10 2008 at 04:47 PM

ooh girl you are going to rock your numbers are better than mine. Let's go Cali girls (clap clap)

Thursday, January 10 2008 at 04:59 PM

My cycle is just as shocking to me!! It makes me nervous, cuz I know it has to end eventually lol

Thank You
Saturday, January 12 2008 at 07:26 PM

Thank you so much for your kind words. I'm glad you believe as I do! It has been a struggle, I've already dealt with one horrible cycle(rejected by 19 schools). Re-applied, visited schools and kept the faith hard and strong. Some schools downplay my ethnicity and try to discount us as being URM's. I'm very impressed by your stats and will hope, pray, and wish the best of success for you in the near and distant future. PS: What schools do you think I have a second or third chance at that I have applied/not applied?

I agree
Sunday, January 13 2008 at 08:55 AM

I agree with you on those schools. I'm pretty positive I will get into Iowa. However, I really have no desire to live in Minnesota...we'll see. I'm still trying to decide whether or not I want to apply to Fordham and GW. I'm also thinking about sending an application to a T-14 law school, we will see. Yes, Palestinians are not traditionally thought of as URM's. However, there are so very few Arabs, let alone Palestinians that are in the application market for law school (just about anywhere in the nation). This also makes it hard for some schools to accept the status since they are not many arab law support groups in the US. What do you think? Best of Luck :)

Wednesday, January 16 2008 at 06:53 AM

OMG! Congrats on GW! I'm so glad I was wrong. ; )

Wednesday, January 16 2008 at 07:06 AM

On GW, I knew you'd get in.!

Friday, January 18 2008 at 06:21 AM

on GW!!!! That's a great school.

Tuesday, January 22 2008 at 02:51 AM

Are you serious?? Your stats are much better than mine. If they pass on you then they are truly crazy. Me it was a little understandable

You'll be fine
Friday, January 25 2008 at 07:49 AM

You've already gotten into some great schools, and we just have to keep telling ourselves that schools are saving our files till the end. But that doesn't mean they won't accept us!!

Saturday, January 26 2008 at 01:25 PM

Thanks so much for the support! I refuse to let anything stop me. "You never know unless you try" is my motto for this cycle

Monday, January 28 2008 at 04:12 PM

1. I'm definitely planning on riding the WLs to the very end. 2. I have a few more schools that are hidden, but as of now Georgetown is my number 1 choice. I went to their ASD and had a great time, really loved the people there and the location.

Monday, February 04 2008 at 04:22 AM

Yeah, I was pretty surprised... not that my numbers are so great for them but I did get the Fee Waiver. :( I want to be in NY so I was considering them. They also gave me the option of switching to May entry? But I'm not sure I can do that.

Monday, February 04 2008 at 08:24 AM

For the congrats! good luck with your cycle!

Congrats so far!
Monday, February 04 2008 at 06:43 PM

Great profile! I think more good news will be coming your way!

Tuesday, February 05 2008 at 08:19 AM

I definitely plan on visiting the campus..most likely during ASW. I have to say Stanford is very high on my list now as I never really expected to get in when I first applied.

One more thing..
Tuesday, February 05 2008 at 09:54 PM

Go art history majors!

Thank you!
Wednesday, February 06 2008 at 05:05 AM

Thank you for the comment! I felt that I had to pay extra, extra attention to my personal statement because my numbers weren't so great. Congrats on your acceptances!

Thursday, February 07 2008 at 05:03 AM

grrr I wish! I took the June '07 LSAT. So no luck there. At this point I'm expecting the worst. Do you think I should call? I don't want to harrass them, but I'm getting worried.

Friday, February 08 2008 at 06:19 AM

Thanks for the congrats. I'm actually not in-state. I didn't think I had any shot of getting in. The only reason I applied is because they sent me a fee waiver. I don't have any first choices yet but we'll see. How do you feel about GWU? I'm seriously considering attending and plan on visiting next month. I heard they don't give out a lot of money.

Saturday, February 09 2008 at 02:04 PM

yea i've heard that here's hoping i still have a chance. although you've gotten into american already and i still haven't heard. good luck - i hope we both get in!

Tuesday, February 12 2008 at 09:04 PM

for the congrats. BTW, you found me out-mmh131 is melbelle.

Friday, February 15 2008 at 06:24 AM

I'm very glad you were right. Good luck with the rest of your cycle!

Sunday, February 24 2008 at 02:20 PM

Yield protection? What do you mean? Should i just send them a general letter saying how they're my "top choice?"

Tuesday, February 26 2008 at 03:34 AM

how did you know that you were on hold at NYU? thanks and congrats on your acceptances and offers :)

Sunday, March 16 2008 at 12:18 PM

Congrats on all of your acceptances! Are you leaning towards any schools right now?

Wednesday, March 19 2008 at 01:57 PM

I really have no idea, but my top 5 are Cornell, Wash U, IU-B, UT Austin and SMU. I hope/have to make a decision in April so we'll see what happens after I visit IU-B and Cornell. Have you visited any of your top schools yet?

Wednesday, March 26 2008 at 08:08 AM

Congrats on the acceptances thus far and good luck with the future ones!! Also: I hope I didn't offend you with my joke over on TLS. Never heard back from you and was afraid I did. I apologize if it came across badly.

Thursday, April 03 2008 at 12:44 PM

YAY for Hastings! Good job!

Sunday, April 06 2008 at 05:14 AM

Congrats on Hastings, that rules.

Saturday, April 12 2008 at 11:56 AM

i'm still sooo stoked that you got into hastings! its like if az would get davis. same type of happy feeling. :) oh i was gonna say you should put up your #s to help future URMs that are planning to apply. ;) hopefully i'll see you at Hastings... (and hopefully i'm not setting myself up for letdown cause i think i might actually have a shot of getting off this waitlist)

Wednesday, April 16 2008 at 10:55 AM

Hey, Just wanted to say congrats on Hastings.. I'll be seeing you there in the fall! I don't know if there's already a place where other admitted students are talking?
