Additional info & updates

11/09: Toby Stock Interview Email

11/14: Toby Stock Inteview - I thought it went really well.

11/19- Berkeley acceptance call! Yay!

11/21- HARVARD acceptance phone call!!!!
Note: Received the HLS binder about a month later with a personalized note :).

12/19: Acceptance call from UCLA!

12/20: Snail mail packet from Michigan!

12/22: Just noticed I made the Top 50 users list. Kinda cool, right?

1/09: Michigan just sent me a Darrow invite..Wow!!

1/19: In at UVA via thin envelope! Offered a Dean's scholarship as well.

1/24: In at Chicago via phone call. So far I'm 7-7 :) So far an amazing cycle - I'm so thankful I retook the LSAT.

1/26: Went home to an olive green folder with a HAMILTON offer.

1/29: Call from Dean Zearfoss offering a full Darrow stipend at Michigan. Amazing.

2/12: Invited to apply to Penn's Levy Scholar program (full tuition for 1L, half for 2L and 3L) but decided not apply with the Hamilton in tow. On another note, I think I survived the first round of Yale rejections, which is nice, but postponing the inevitable :/

2/15: Got an email from Yale stating I will either receive an offer or a spot on the waitlist based on the strength of my application. I think this is essentially a deferral - but I might not receive a decision until mid-April - ahhh!

2/16: Withdrew from Boalt, UVA, Penn, Chicago and UCLA. I hope that helps some of you out!

4/10: I went to Columbia and HLS admit programs and had a wonderful visits at both schools. I think I could have been a happy student at both schools. Since I received about 23K at HLS in grants, though, its looks like the financial difference between the school will be halved. That said, I'm thinking an extra 75K for Harvard is worth it over the long term, just to quell any regrets I may have about passing up my dream school. Unless Yale or Stanford decide to complicate my decision, I'm heading to Harvard!!

4/15: Waitlisted at Yale via email. For future applicants, spend more time on your Yale 250. I didn't realize it was such a huge deal and rushed unnecessarily.

4/16: Called Stanford to check on my status and was informed that they are done accepting applicants and will only be rejecting or waitlisting applicants here on out.

4/17: Sent in my deposit to HLS..its official! I couldn't have asked for a better opportunity.

Update: Decided not to accept Yale's waitlist but I'll see what happens with Stanford.

6/5: Accepted off the waitlist at Stanford..I have a week to make a decision. This REALLY complicates my life since I signed a lease in Cambridge..

6/14: Stuck with HLS despite an incredible financial offer from Stanford. An agonizing choice but one that was right for me.

you will not need anymore schools. trust. you will get an email from H asking to set up a time to chat with t.stock. you will chat. this will be before your application is even complete. then he will call back a few days later and let you in. trust.

Re: Numbers twin!
Tuesday, October 02 2007 at 08:00 PM

You're right, we are twins! So, why the huge jump from one score to the next? For me, I knew I could do better than a 164, but the 176 was higher than any of my practice tests. I got my score yesterday, I'm still so happy about it. Which LSATs did you take? Also, what fee waivers have you gotten since the 177? Good luck this cycle, you won't need it! :)

LSAT
Sunday, September 02 2007 at 08:00 PM

holy crapola, you were on my watch list, but now with this 177! geez! Anyway, I'm thinking about taking the december test because i took june like you and got the same score. i was usually getting 170-174...did you feel more prepared the second time around? and did the test come back to you quickly once you began to practice again? I haven't really looked at it since june...but i think i'd be back to where i was in a couple of weeks.

LSAT

Hey! Congrats on the big LSAT jump. Do you plan on submitting an LSAT addendum to the top 5 schools? I know some of them said they avg it unless they get an explanation. I went up from 166 to 172, so am not sure what to do

Similar numbers
Friday, November 02 2007 at 08:00 PM

It'll be interesting to see what happens... I suspect you went to a better-known UG school, but otherwise our apps are quite similar.

re: similar numbers
Wednesday, November 07 2007 at 07:00 PM

good luck to you too :) congrats on the H email -- hopefully I'll get one some time soon

Great score
Monday, January 15 2007 at 07:00 PM

Great job on your updated score. How did you prepare the 2nd time?

I got the HLS interview email at the end of last week. You're probably in the pipeline if you haven't gotten it already.

Congrats!

Congrats on the Harvard phone interview! I really hope I get one as well :-D Do you think you could send me an email about what the interview was like?

YP?
Tuesday, October 02 2007 at 08:00 PM

Haha, isn't it a little late for you to care about yield protection? Of course I'm only teasing, fudge your numbers if you want to :-D And again, congratulations! Must have been a great day :-P

Congrats!
Saturday, October 20 2007 at 08:00 PM

on Harvard and Boalt...must be nice to have two great schools want you so badly, so early!

Thanks!
Saturday, October 20 2007 at 08:00 PM

The anticipation of waiting for everything is a little aggravating, but I'm just glad to have everything in THEIR hands now. :-)

Congrats and question
Saturday, December 01 2007 at 07:00 PM

Congrats! Wow, Harvard and Boalt :) I was wondering if you might help a newbie and let me in on the secret to the big jump in score? Any help would be great! Thanks and congrats!

Thanks
Saturday, December 01 2007 at 07:00 PM

Thanks for the advice! Congrats again :)

WOW
Monday, May 28 2007 at 08:00 PM

You got into Harvard. The only reason anyone else hasn't sent something in yet has got to be a paperwork issue. Congrats, that is awesome.

UCLA and Michigan
Monday, October 01 2007 at 08:00 PM

Looks like I'm in the same boat as you. :( Don't know what's going on there.

UCLA and Michigan
Monday, October 01 2007 at 08:00 PM

I hope not. I guess we'll see.

:)
Monday, October 01 2007 at 08:00 PM

thanks! GL on the rest of your cycle...tho i think u certainly don't need it! go bears

Michigan
Saturday, October 20 2007 at 08:00 PM

I haven't heard anything yet, but I'm not really worried about it. I'll go to HLS before I go to UofM anyway, so it doesn't matter if I get accepted or not.

Finally!
Monday, October 01 2007 at 08:00 PM

Congrats on UCLA! I got in yesterday, so I guess they finally got around to us. :)

Congrats
Friday, October 19 2007 at 08:00 PM

I think you might sweep the cycle!

Congrats!
Monday, October 01 2007 at 08:00 PM

If I have half the cycle you're having, I'll be ecstatic. Best of luck!

Go Bears!!
Sunday, January 06 2008 at 07:00 PM

Congrats to yourself as well! Cal students have been doing really well this year =) Here's to future success!

Harvard vs. Michigan
Saturday, April 14 2007 at 08:00 PM

I really don't know... I grew up in Michigan, and going to U of M has a lot of appeal to me. How about you?

..
Saturday, April 14 2007 at 08:00 PM

Yeah, I understand that... coming from my background, having that Harvard name up on my wall would be pretty nice. It's definitely a good position to be in =) Congrats again!

thanks :)
Tuesday, November 13 2007 at 07:00 PM

I really have no idea - I love them all. I keep wishing I could mash all three into one uber-school - what a relief that would be! Are you thinking Harvard?

sorry
Tuesday, November 13 2007 at 07:00 PM

That wasn't to suggest you won't get into S or Y - I'm just curious which school you're favoring at this point.

Penn
Saturday, October 20 2007 at 08:00 PM

Nope, still haven't heard from them, but I didn't go complete there till rather late. I also haven't heard from UVA either, and I've been complete there since 11/15...so I'm expecting something soon, hopefully.

Congrats! Please Withdraw Now
Saturday, January 12 2008 at 07:00 PM

Can you withdraw from Boalt please, once you make a clean sweep of HYS?

Good research skills...
Thursday, October 18 2007 at 08:00 PM

I don't link my LSN page to my LSD account so that I'm harder to identify by adcoms... I guess it still isn't too difficult. I'm (slightly) paranoid. Good luck with the rest of your cycle. Here's to hoping we both end up at our top choice!

blk
Congrats!
Monday, October 01 2007 at 08:00 PM

Thursday, January 10 2008 at 07:00 PM

for the congratulations. I wish I could tell you exactly what put me over the top. I worked really hard on my statements and I knew all of my recommenders very well. I think my application just came together well. Good luck to you. I hope to see you at some ASWs!

Congrats!
Monday, October 01 2007 at 08:00 PM

On Chicago!

Congrats, LSAT
Sunday, July 22 2007 at 08:00 PM

Wow, incredible score. Was the first time just a fluke or did you really study hard for the second one?

Congrats!
Wednesday, November 07 2007 at 07:00 PM

Let me be the first (on LSN) to congratulate you on the Hamilton! Also, fix your decision dates... it's 2008 now :)

Congrats!!
Sunday, January 06 2008 at 07:00 PM

Way to go calgal! Congrats on earning the Hamilton! Good luck on the choices to come =)

Congrats!
Monday, December 10 2007 at 07:00 PM

On Columbia! You'll have a hard decision to make!

HYSC
Friday, November 30 2007 at 07:00 PM

I still have almost 3 months to make a decision. Plenty of time. I am going to visit HYSC...

Hamilton
Friday, October 19 2007 at 08:00 PM

That's great news! I imagine it's a tough decision, but I'm sure things will work out whatever you decide.

Congrats!
Monday, October 01 2007 at 08:00 PM

On Columbia! :D

umm....wow
Monday, September 17 2007 at 08:00 PM

You are amazing! Great numbers and the best acceptances possible! I know you will be excited when Yale comes as well! I'm definitely jealous! Congrats at whatever AMAZING school you choose next year!!

Stanford et. al; Hamilton--Congrats
Monday, January 14 2008 at 07:00 PM

I'm sure you'll make it, though with the Hamilton and Harvard, it looks like you're heading off to the East Coast!

ues
Congrats
Saturday, July 07 2007 at 08:00 PM

...to you, too! I must confess, I'm currently leaning Harward, but I'm definitely going to take a much closer look at CLS now. What are your thoughts? And I agree with your plea to Yale and Stanford...I have nightmares about being on a waitlist in July. Congrats again!

TITLE REQUIRED
Monday, September 17 2007 at 08:00 PM

Tough call. My law student friends universally worry about how stressful Columbia is. And I'll be qualifying to LRAP anyway from Harvard. But full-tuition plus research opportunities? Truth is we'll have to wait for Yale to come in before we really sit down and figure this stuff out. Thanks for the congrats. Hopefully we'll make the same choice, whatever it may be.

LOL
Sunday, January 27 2008 at 07:00 PM

Wow, very cute. I had to look at your a bit closer to see the distinction. I am assuming you are my age too then. Anyhow, congrats!

Hamilton vs. HLS
Tuesday, August 28 2007 at 08:00 PM

I'm really not sure. I'm interested in govt work and also want to leave open the option to enter the legal academia world, so I think I'm leaning towards Harvard's thanks to its potential for future career flexibility. Not sure if that helps though!

re: CLS
Wednesday, November 07 2007 at 07:00 PM

I don't know what I did wrong with CLS... still no word yet. Any new developments in your decision?

Re: Hamilton v. HLS
Saturday, December 08 2007 at 07:00 PM

I don't really know what I'm going to do at this point. My cycle isn't over yet, and I feel that I need to visit the schools before making any decisions.

=)
Saturday, April 14 2007 at 08:00 PM

Thanks, calgal. Congrats on your Darrow and Hammy! Absolutely amazing.

thanks!
Sunday, November 18 2007 at 07:00 PM

wow, it looks like you've got some amazing acceptances with money. =) you must be excited! i'm not entirely sure where i'll be going yet...i'll be visiting columbia this week. what about you?

Congrats!
Monday, November 05 2007 at 07:00 PM

On all of your acceptances. I understand you don't want to make any hasty decisions, but would you kindly consider withdrawing from those schools you know you will not be attending. Thanks :)

Re: Congrats
Tuesday, October 02 2007 at 08:00 PM

Berkeley is definitely one of my top choices, I'm really happy to be accepted there. Thanks for the congrats, and congrats to you as well on all your amazing acceptances and scholarships!

Thanks!
Monday, November 05 2007 at 07:00 PM

I was so confused! Because you DID generously withdraw and yet you seemed so angry. But I am glad it is not you and I did not upset you. Thank you so much for thinking of others and withdrawing... and once again congrats on your acceptances! You have an awesome future ahead of you!

Wow
Sunday, March 30 2008 at 08:00 PM

Your stats make me feel all warm and fuzzy inside :)

Congrats!
Monday, October 01 2007 at 08:00 PM
