Just saw your post on LSD. Congratulations on your Dayton admit -- now you can flush Cooley down the fourth-tier toilet. Good luck on the rest of your apps.
6 accepts! Damn that's really got to feel good. But then again your numbers are pretty good.
Congrats on all your acceptances! That's awesome that you are hearing back so soon from everywhere! I hope to hear back soon!
see? I told you you'd hear a YES on Monday -- good job. If I don't get into UM, then MSU is looking pretty likely for me (we live here in Lansing and their IP/Comm program is supposed to be excellent). Good luck on the other 25 apps! :)
Hey there Figured I'd drop by since you said hi at my profile. I'd looked at your profile a number of times already since, as you said, we have very similar numbers. Looks as though we are looking at quite different geographies. The only school we have in common in Mich, lets hope we can both be "leapfroggers"! Just an aside, given your background with the military (and since that time counts towards govt. time in service and hiring pref), you might want to think about either a Presidential Management Fellowship, or a DOJ Honors Attorney application when you get towards the end of school. Clearly I have no idea of your ideal career path, but if it involves the govt those might be great options for you. Its never to early to think about the post school plans =). Email me if you have any questions. And GOOD LUCK on more acceptances!!!
Congrats to you too! It feels good to know I am at least going somewhere. You have lots of options to consider...I will keep tabs on how you are doing!
Richmond and Indy are great admits! Even if they offered a full ride, you need to go ahead and withdraw from Cooley and N.Illinois. Congrats!
Congrats on all of the acceptances, esp. Richmond, it's a great school. Thanks for keeping those of us waiting updated w/ stats on your acceptance letters! Love the use of military time. :)
Thanks for the congrats. I can't believe that you are stuck dealing with your old LSAT score. I hope that the schools you apply to know that a three year old score should pretty much be ignored. Congrats on all your acceptances already and also on that 165!
Thanks for the advice to get them out, it just took me forever to write a good personal statement.. I finally transmitted them all early this week. I really really really want Loyola, Chicago-Kent, and/or Wisconsin... but I think I need to add in some safeties?
Holy cow! Way to go with MN! That's a top 20 program on the US News list I believe...congrats on Wayne too!
Thanks for the kind words and congrats on MN - thats awesome. I'd love to hear about your visit to Minn- keep me posted. Happy New Year!
You're rockin the acceptances - nice work! Good call with the withdrawals - you've gotta go to the top. I'm guessing Hamline's WD is next? Nice work - can't wait to hear where you and your family are going!
Thanks Army! Best of luck to you on the rest of your apps as well! It's always cool hearing from the 4LawSchool board members on here. It looks like you've had a great run so far!
Hey, congrats on Minnesota! That is a VERY good school. Seems weird that Illinois deferred you. Perhaps they will come to their senses soon. Of the acceptances, what is your first choice so far??
Hey 29 is a ton as well. Good luck on the rest, who knows maybe we will end up at the same place. What is your top choice as of now?
and congrats on Minn, that is soooo awesome!!!!!
Thanks for your response. You may be shocked about UMN, but it seems like the school is looking at the important stuff beyond the numbers. Good question about the first choice, I am waiting to see where I get in before I get my hopes up :) Just keeping my fingers crossed! Again, good luck! Who knows, my app to UMN is still out there, maybe I'll see you in the fall!
Wanted to leave you a quick note. Nice work on your acceptances and thanks for you words over on my page.
you're having a really good cycle so far. Good luck on the rest of your apps.
Thanks for the comments on my page! I'm not all that surprised about my Minn deferral...it's one of the top schools I applied to. I'm still really hoping for an acceptance...it is one of my favorites. I see you got in there...Congrats! Are you thinking of attending?
Just wondered how you're "prepping" for maintaining a healthy marriage during law school. My husband and I just celebrated one year, so I'm trying to research early to set up a plan of action ;o) Just wondered if you'd given any thought to this. Also, congrats on MN. An acquaintance of mine goes there (2L)...he says its competitive, but I think he likes it.
yeah, well what can you do. it was a disappointment, but it's OK. I'm just happy to be in two schools at this point, and hoping for a couple more!!
DUDE! Noooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo!
that guy left the exact same message on my profile... anyway, congrats on minnesota--fabulous school and fun city!!
Thanks for the love, but I should be congratulating you on all of your accomplishments!
Wanted to congratulate you on you acceptances so far. Minnesota is a great school, and you give a lot of us hope. Also wanted to thank you for your service. Don't worry what other people say. Best of luck on the rest of your apps. Hope you get in everywhere.
Just wondering what you thought of U. of Minn. Shoot me an email. Good Luck with the rest of your apps!
Can you tell me anything about Hamline?
Things seem to be going AMAZINGLY for you! That is great, Congrats! I am ver nervous about having not heard, esp. from Richmond. our index is pretty similar, so your app gave me hope, but now idk what to expect! My app is with committee at a few schools, so I am hoping for good things. Do you have any idea where you will be headed yet? You have some great choices!
Between UofMN and Richmond, I think you have to go with UofMN. However, the relative warmth of Richmond over Minnesota would make me hesitate slightly.
thanks so much. It feels so good to be in somewhere. I have heard that Minn is a great great school that is really well respected from the dean of the history dept at my school so Congrats, that is really really awesome!!
Congrats on Penn State! Make sure you check out my post on LSD...its under "visits, reviews, and rankings" from Sarcastic1. I'm hoping to hear back from them soon.
thanks for your message. congrats to you too!! you've got, what, 10 acceptances?? thats awesome!
You seem to have alot of great stuff to think about, I wish you the best for whatever you choose. You have an awesome postion to be in. CONGRATS
Thanks for your encouragement on my profile. Wish the best of luck to a fellow DaD sufferer!
Thanks for the support! No immediate fin aid reward @ Penn St. Letter said I'd automatically be considered for merit scholarships and I'd have to apply for need based.
Do you (or anyone else out there) know where to find residency information for all 50 states? You figure someone would have put a list together somewhere. Put the word out...
Everytime I try to log into your blog with Firefox it crashes. Have you heard this at all from other firefox users? IT works fine with Internet Explorer. Also since I am most likely going to WI is there any chance that you would go there if you were brought off the waiting list? Or would you be more likely to go to MIN because it is higher ranked?
I'm in the 101st over here in Iraq right now. I'm finishing up my degree before I ETS and am considering IU-Indy (I'm from Indiana.) Haven't taken the LSATs. My GPA should be around 3.0. Any advise or extra info on Indy? Thanks
I'd love to hear what you think of Richmond after you visit. I haven't visited yet but I assume I will eventually but in the meantime, I'd love to hear what you think!
I read your thoughts on W&M. Since it is currently the cheapest of my top choices, I am hoping that my visit in a few weeks goes better than yours.
Thanks for the congrats on CK...it all likelihood, though, I will probably end up at Wayne since I have a good job in a law-related field here in the Detroit-area that I don't want to leave...though I have to say, I have been EXTREMELY unimpressed with their admissions process so far and the lack of information available on their website for admitted students...if not for the job, I would almost definitley be attending either Rutgers or one of the Chicago schools I got into
I'm overthrowing Valentine's Day...lol, not because I'm bitterly enraged about being single, but because I want to celebrate being single while I still am! :) Anyways, I didn't consider Syracuse before because it was so expensive, but seeing some of the people on LSN getting sizable scholarships made it seem more attractive. I would take Syracuse, New York over Carlisle, PA for an out of state school any day...so, yes, maybe out of nervousness, but also out of consideration of more realistic options.
Thanks so much for the supportive comment. I expected the rejection, but it's still a bit of a bummer. You have fared very well so far--any idea where you might attend?
Congrats on the W/L to Virginia!! Just wondering how your visit to William & Mary went? If you've posted info on your blog, could you forward me the link? Thanks!
...if you go on their website it talks about using your WSU email to find out if you are offered anything. I activated the address and nothing was sent there. I did get a letter from MSU today with 25% scholarship though. Not enough to keep me from Wayne, however.
Thanks for you comment! I actually applied to UR on a whim (I didn't really think much about it)...but now I'm really considering going there. I think I saw you post about it on LSD and you made it sound really nice. Congrats on your acceptances! I hope you get many more :)
I just wanted to say hello and congratulations on your acceptances. I too went from the Army to Law. Although, I was enlisted E-6 it's always nice to see other military applicants. Are you considering the JAG corp when you are done? Are you going through the FLEP program? Whatever you are doing, you are set. Have a wonderful day.
...and here's to many more. I agree that the small pool of scholarship money does hurt MSU. Given that MSU is the only big 10 school without a top 100 Law School, though, I would be willing to bet that in five years, they will be much better ranked.
It's MSU for me. Although I am still pending at W&M, I really don't think I will make it in. And we live right next to MSU, and they gave me some money, etc etc etc. So I will be a Spartan again. Good luck the rest of the way, and let me know what you end up deciding!
Where do you think you will be heading next year?? Is Indy a decent concideration?
Thanks for looking into crashing, I wasn't sure if it was just me or what. I knew I'd get rejected at the DC schools, not a biggie. I love the OAR takes me back 3 years, we always used to play them at by old house during parties. Good times. Keep up the blog!
Hey! I was just reading your notes and would love to hear your thoughts on your visit to William Mitchell if you don't mind. Congrats on your wonderful admits!
Hey, Congrats on IU-Indy. I wish to heck they'd reply (they are my last school I need to hear from). Is IU one of your top choice schools? Perhaps we'll run accross one another.
Where is your blog visible? And where are you currently stationed? Good luck!
Congrats on the money, but you might want to check and see what the median gpa is at the school. My cousin went to Dayton (different school obviously) and got a full-ride, but then couldn't get a good enough gpa to keep it. He said that a lot of the lower tiered schools do that on purpose. He said the mdeian was like a 2.6 there. Just a thought
Hey man, I ma going Navy to Law myself. We have pretty much the same numbers (except your second LSAT ROCKED!). Right now I am trying for the LEP program but it looks bleak. I applied to a number of the same schools but it looks like Marquette for me...I am pretty excited about it. I too am married and trying to give myself a bunch of options. I sincerely wish you the best of luck in your future endeavors. Take care man...
I talked over a lot of different things with my wife. With her job, she could only transfer to a number of different places and MN just wasn't one of them...such is life. Best of luck to you with your tough decision as the seat deposit deadline nears. I am back to straing out the window for the mail man! haha...
I read a lot of your blogs. Quite an interesting story you have there. I can relate with you on several accounts. Great job on your LSAT. I also considered the FLEP program, but found out about it too late in my career. Are you considering going back? Good luck bro!
hey congrats on the acceptances, but hey if your not planning to attend penn state, could you please withdraw your application so us waitlisters have a shot...lol thanks!
with your decision and congrats on that scholarship! What a great decision you have to make (but tough) . Richmond is a great school (esp. with money)! Given my chances, I am really happy with the wl- I was beginning to think i was an outright reject, though I'm pretty sure it means no money. Let me know how i goes for you, wherever you end up!
hope to see you at MN
I got word I am out from W&M. Good luck on that if you get it. It looks like an awesome school, but I didn't feel very welcome when I visited either. Kind of weird considering someone in my family helped start the school to begin with!
See you in the fall. Are you going to the admit day in April?
You're a fine candidate and deserve to be at a great school like Minnesota! Best wishes to you and yours!
Congratulations on all the fine acceptances, and good luck at Minnesota.
I am planning to apply to the U of MN for fall 2007. I am taking the LSAT again and I am wondering if you know if they throw out the lowest score? I am just curious about the Univ. of MN. Congrats on all these great schools! Well done!
Just wanted to follow up with you after talking before law school and all the admissions stuff. How did Minn. work out? I did Akron for a year then transferred to Case. Talk to you soon. Matt
Hey man, I'm loving the blog, and that post especially. Keep up the good work...and good luck on your apps...we're applying to a lot of the same schools in Detroit and Chicago
