Additional info & updates

Sent: Date I submitted the application on LSAC
Received: Date school requested package from LSAC
Complete: Date school told me I had a complete file
Decision: Date of Letter

Scholarship = amount over 3 years

12/17 I'm going to law school! Email from WashU. Funny thing about the acceptance: I received an email 40 minutes before the acceptance talking about the admitted students weekend and chat. Includes $200 stipend.

01/03 Finally starting to go complete at a few other schools. 3 left!

01/04 In at W&L via email! Mention of stipend (amount TBD)

01/10 In at Emory via phone call! Woken up from a nap to a nice surprise

1/11 In at BC via mail at the permanent address

1/11 Decision at GULC. I don't feel good about this, considering all decisions in 2008 (so far) have been WLs or Rejections.

1/11 I haven't been this obsessive all cycle. I've overturned every stone available to me to find some evidence either way about what to expect from Georgetown. The best I have is that the last decision on LSN was 4 days ago, so maybe they're making different *kinds* of decisions now. Maybe???

1/11 Just checked the mail (late). Complete at BU! This is significant only because I am officially complete everywhere! YAY! Post-marked on the 9th, so I'm putting that as my complete date.

1/16 WL at Georgetown. Expected.

1/22 Went to decision yesterday (somehow didn't notice yesterday) at Vanderbilt. I feel nauseous.

1/24 25k/year at WashU!

1/24 In at Vanderbilt!!! Priority Flat Rate box. I am SO excited.

1/30 20k/year at W&L!

2/04 Waitlisted at UCLA and GW today, both dated 1/31. UCLA was expected...GW not so much. Very confused about it. It would have taken a full ride, or close, to get me there I think...so I shouldn't be too distraught over it. But I am. Argh.

2/07 In at Texas!!!!! (by phone call) Oh how I would love to go back to Texas. This is good. This is very good.

2/08 Dinged at Penn by snail mail. Expected. On the bright side, got my UT acceptance package! Letter dated 2/05. Also got my scholarship letter from WashU. They double packed it, so I had two scholarship letters and two reply-letters in one envelope. Do you think that means it's 150k instead 75k?

2/14 In at Cornell via email!! How exciting!

2/29 Scholarship from Vanderbilt! It's interesting...10k/year scholarship + 5k/year need-based scholarship. Put it down as 15k/year since both are called scholarships.

2/29 I was predicting that I would be waitlisted at Mich on 3/1. However, it doesn't seem that's happening with all the waitlists that went out today. I am taking this as a positive, insofar that it says that I wasn't put in the first WL batch. There are only a handful of people who are still pending (that I can trust to update LSN asap) and complete near or before me. Hmm..

3/16 Dear Michigan,
Where are you? I'm confused. The second wave of WL went out on 3/14 and I've still not gone to decision. I'm one of very few to still be pending from pre-February completion. Please let me know soon.
With Love,
JNSL

3/17 UT money!

3/18 In at BU via phone call!

3/24 Waitlisted at USC. Letter to permanent address.

3/24 20k/year at BC! The "Law Scholarship" was first presented to me in their financial aid award.

3/27 35k at Cornell over 3 years. Unfortunately pretty underwhelmed.

3/28 12:03 am. Just went to decision at UVA via status checker. I think it'll be a waitlist, but who knows? I'm just glad to finally have a decision coming.

4/01 Withdrawn from WashU. Not by telling them, of course, but by missing the first deposit.

4/03 Waitlisted at UVA, duh. Post-marked 4/01. Not April Fools, unfortunately.

4/03 Just waiting on numero uno. I have no reasons to hide anything now, as I already told Michigan they were my number one in a recent LOCI to Dean Zearfoss. I am also finished leveraging scholarships. As of right now, it will be Vanderbilt in the fall. I think the only schools that I would consider instead are UVA and Michigan, and since I am not holding my breath with UVA's general wait list...

4/04 *sigh*

4/07 Sent my deposit to Vanderbilt!

4/09 Withdrew from Emory. I missed the deadlines on WashU and W&L, so I also have the W there too. Further, I didn't bother submitting the affirmation to USC about the WL, so I am considering that a W as well. As for the others, I am going to just let the deposit deadlines happen. No school has bothered to remind me (besides Emory), so I don't see a pressing need. I might change my mind later when I don't have work to do.

4/12 Took the little A down from Vandy.

...

4/15 The little A is back. Pocket withdrawal at Cornell, BU, BC, and Texas.

5/24 WL, Rejection letter from GW. I'm entertained and wouldn't have considered them anyhow.

7/6 Released from GULC's waitlist by snail mail. Wouldn't have gone anyhow, but it still stinks. Only UCLA and UVA WLs are pending. UVA would make me think long and hard, but I wouldn't go to UCLA.

See you're basically a lock at WUSTL, GW, emory, BC, and BU...so i mean..at least your "safety" schools are pretty good shots, i wish i'd done something over the past 4 years and had the same GPA lol.

So your safeties are pretty much my reaches, but let me know if you ever wanna take a trip to any of these schools.

LOL, I clicked on your name on LSD to comment on your LSN and you had already commented on my LSN account (Tetris=spaceinvaders). Anyway all the fee waivers on my account were unsolicited merit based waivers except for Minnesota and Michigan which were merit-based waivers that I solicited for myself. Good luck this cycle! We're pretty much # twins so your success= my success. What kind of school did you go to and how strong are your ECs? I went to a small state school and have pretty good ECs.

BEST OF LUCK!

GOOD LUCK ON THE CYCLE! I wish my LSAT was a bit higher but I have a pretty good reason for the low score! Keep me informed and I hope you sweep!

Good Luck!

Thank you and good luck to you too! What's your LSD nickname?

Location and money...
Wednesday, November 28 2007 at 07:00 PM

Nice work on the LSAT! I'm not sure what "location" means to you, but I can figure out the "money" part! I would strongly recommend you apply for the named scholarships at Vanderbilt (merit awards) and visit the school, if you haven't already (this certainly does not hurt your scholarship chances). Assuming your GPA is pretty decent, you'd be in good shape for great scholarship consideration at a top 20 school in a great location.

Good luck!

Good luck to you I Don't Know Law. What are your thoughts on UVA?

list
Friday, May 11 2007 at 08:00 PM

To be honest, really high. It looks like i'm going to be going to either vandy (if i get in), wustl, tulane (with a big scholarship if i get it) or miami (only for a full ride). I'm sure you'll be fine for wustl, i've been to st. louis it's awesome.

in at w&m

Monday, June 25 2007 at 08:00 PM

Thanks for the MN congrats. I am very surprised by the quick turnaround. It looks like you just started going complete-- I bet you'll get your first acceptances before Xmas or shortly after. Our other numbers "triplet" just got into Vanderbilt. I think us 3.4/169ers are going to have a great cycle. ____ .|E|R|S.

I'm sure it bodes well for you too. I'd love to hear something good from Cornell soon...

congrats
Monday, June 25 2007 at 08:00 PM

good work on WUSTL! what are your thoughts of richmond and the surrounding area? i understand williamsburg (w&m) is very close. does the area have a metro feel to it at all? i know williamsburg is small but is it "close enough" to the action to give it a medium-city feel? is the area pretty?

one more thing
Monday, June 25 2007 at 08:00 PM

...we went compelte at the same time at vanderbilt w/ the same #s... most people who applied before us have already received decisions-- so i think we are right on the cusp of getting accepted IF we are going to get accepted right away. i'm checking my virtual vuls several times a day now :S

decision at vanderbilt and michigan today for me... i'm way worried. how are you on vanderbilt?

Georgetown
Wednesday, May 30 2007 at 08:00 PM

I'm waiting to find out what the decision is too! This is almost worse than having no online status checkers, as far as OCD checking for clues about whether it'll be a yes or a no 24/7. I was also quite concerned that they havent admitted a single person this whole month... But my best wishes are with you!

Vanderbilt
Wednesday, December 12 2007 at 07:00 PM

Hi, I see your status checker changed too. Good Luck! I think you have a great shot. I'm really very scared -- it seems very soon for me to be receiving a decision. Do you have any idea how long it will take them to mail us something?

Congrats on Vandy
Saturday, July 21 2007 at 08:00 PM

My status checker changed on the 21st as well. I've been waiting for something to show up, and now that you got the stuff today... well, lets just say I'm going to be useless at work for the rest of the day. Once again, congrats, I hope my news is good like yours!

Thanks
Saturday, July 21 2007 at 08:00 PM

You were right. I'm in at Vandy too! Now I have to get to reading all this stuff they sent.

Congrats
Wednesday, December 12 2007 at 07:00 PM

On Vandy! The big box was beautiful. =)

Congrats on Vandy!
Monday, November 05 2007 at 07:00 PM

We're numbers and school twins (and both holding out on UMich) so good luck to you and congrats on your cycle so far!

Sorry!
Wednesday, October 31 2007 at 08:00 PM

I'm sorry to see that you were WL'ed at GW and UCLA. I have a feeling that you're going t get some good news soon, though! (BTW, I'm UnbiasedObserver.) Take care.

Congrats!

Congrats!
Monday, November 05 2007 at 07:00 PM

On Cornell! I'm still rooting for you for UMich though!

Cornell
Monday, June 25 2007 at 08:00 PM

I see you got into Cornell-- awesome! What would you choose if Michigan accepted you to? Is it safe to say that Vanderbilt is out of the picture now?

as they say...
Thursday, May 31 2007 at 08:00 PM

While awaiting decisions, one can either: 1. Wait 2. Wait impatiently I guess I only know how to do the latter; I suppose it's a moral victory to see others get their decisions. Anyway, thanks and congrats on all your acceptances so far!

Thanks!
Thursday, May 31 2007 at 08:00 PM

It is definitely nice to get one out of the way, especially when it comes with $$$$. Now back to impatiently waiting...

waitlists
Thursday, February 22 2007 at 07:00 PM

i'm with you on UVA and Michigan...those are the only 2 schools I would take over Vandy $...are you gonna interview with UVA?

Why?
Friday, February 09 2007 at 07:00 PM

Wow, with only a 10k difference, why'd you choose Vandy over Corny? (just curious)

leaning
Friday, February 09 2007 at 07:00 PM

Right now it's looking like either Cornell or WUSTL. The money factor makes the decision a difficult one though. I think I'm going to put a deposit down at both schools, ... and hope to decide (somehow) soon thereafter.

WUSTL
Friday, February 09 2007 at 07:00 PM

Heh, it did pass on the 1st. I put a deposit down. Good question though, I sort of assumed the same as well ... it'd make sense, right? :P Thanks, JNSL. I'm sad you're not going to Cornell, ... but good luck at Vandy/Mich (both awesome schools)!

Thanks for the tip!
Friday, February 09 2007 at 07:00 PM

Actually, that's what I did. They didn't meet the UT scholly though, ... they gave like 3/5ths of it (as you can see). Better than nothing for sure! Are you sold on Vandy or still vacillating?

re: Michigan
Wednesday, March 05 2008 at 07:00 PM

Thanks! It was kind of a fluke. I called up Michigan on Monday to check on their waitlist status and they had no more offers to make at that point but I guess someone withdrew over the weekend or that day and they called me back to make the offer. I flew out to visit on Friday and accepted the offer after talking to admissions staff for a bit. Would you go if you got in off the waitlist? If so, hope to see you this fall!!
