Extra Curricular Information

Additional info & updates

I remember how much I appreciated the "Extra Info" when I was starting out, so i'll try to keep this updated.

Fee Waivers:
7/10- My first fee waiver, from W&M. so exciting!
7/11- Cardozo
8/20- George Mason
8/21- SLU
9/7- University of Illinois
9/18- W&L via email
9/21- Indiana
9/24- Baylor
10/03- Temple
10/12-Lewis & Clark
10/22- Alabama
10/30- Arizona
10/31- Suffolk
11/01- Brooklyn
11/16- University of San Diego
(after retake)
10/31/07- Submitted my first 2 applications, AHH! Good luck to all of my fellow applicants, we have a lot of waiting ahead of us.

11/03/07- Mailed Dean's Cert to Cornell today. I'm pretty sure they'll ding me but it won't be for lack of trying. Working on getting my last handful of applications out.

11/09/07- complete at W&M by email.

12/12/07- Illinois status checker changed to 'decision, letter mailed'. My obsessive mailbox checking has increased tenfold.

12/13/07- Fordham status checker changed to 2nd evaluation, whatever that means. Come on schools, I need some good news!
-------Looking back at last year's LSN cycle, Fordham's '2nd evaluation' seems to be a deferral after all. Oh well, i'm going to keep my hopes up!
----That's more like it! My 1st acceptance letter, from the University of San Diego, was waiting in my mailbox! I'm going to law school!!!!

12/17- Rejected by BC. Thin envelope. I knew they were unpredictable but I hoped for at least a waitlist or deferral. :(

---Accepted at Illinois ($$ is over 3 years).

12/19- Called BU and a nice woman confirmed that my application is complete. Please be kind to me Boston.
---received official "on hold" letter from Fordham via snail mail. I'm not giving up yet.

12/24- Sometime Saturday night (12/22) my Cornell Status Checker turned to decision and the small envelope came today. Deferred! I'm thrilled, haha! Yeah yeah i'm still not getting in, but a girl can dream! Woohoo!

01/04- Acceptance email from Washington & Lee! Yay!!

01/08- Phone call from Cardozo letting me know I've been accepted w/ a $30,000/yr scholarship. My first NY acceptance!

01/14- In at Emory! Phone call from the Dean of Admissions :)

1/17- Dear Boston University,
Last year you started sending out decisions in December. Please stop this torture and let me in!

1/18- After receiving a fee waiver email that noted they "had not yet received my application" I called Brooklyn. Found out my file is complete after all, and is even "in committee". Maybe decisions will start rolling out soon?

1/19- Received letter from Brooklyn (dated 1/14) confirming that my file is complete. According to the status checker everything was in over a month ago, but i'll go by the letter.

1/25- finally received the green 'complete' postcard from BU. Apparently "most applicants receive their decision within 6-10 weeks". Please don't let it actually take that long.

1/30- notified of W&L scholarship by email- $15,800 annually. letter to follow.

2/05- letter from USD offering $17,000/yr conditional scholarship.

2/06- happened to check an old email address I never use anymore and stumbled upon an acceptance from Brooklyn Law School from yesterday. Whoops! (:

2/22- The Feb LSAT is a beautiful thing!!

2/29- Waitlisted at Fordham. Happy leap day to you too.

3/3- W&L scholarship bumped to $19,800!

3/19- scholarship packet in the mail from Brooklyn offering $28,900/yr.

3/20- San Diego bumped my scholarship to full tuition + $5k housing. Sweeet.

3/24- Finally got my W&M waitlist letter.

4/02- Letter from Emory informing me I was declined any scholarship $$. Oh well. withdrawing shortly

4/05- CORNELL!!!!!!!

4/14- In at Boston University!! And only about 5 months to the date that I sent in my application, sheesh!

And with that my cycle ends :) ::exhales::

4/23- priority watilist at Fordham, whatever that means.

4/26(ish)- I withdrew from Brooklyn weeks ago, but they keep sending me reminders about the deposit deadline and reserving my merit scholarship. Now they bumped my scholarship to 40,000/yr. Tempting, but I visited Cornell and my heart's set on Ithaca.

4/29- 10k/yr from BU. Only condition is good academic standing. I wasn't expecting anything this late. About to withdraw, it's just so hard to say goodbye to my initial first choice...

Cornell c/o 2011! Go Big Red (and Andy from the Office)! Good luck future applicants, hope the info helped!

sidenote: I finally get to put up my little 'A' for attending, woohoo!

Hi Polly/Cellar
Tuesday, September 18 2007 at 06:13 AM

Good luck this cycle. We're practically number twins, so I have my fingers crossed for you!

Good luck!
Wednesday, October 03 2007 at 07:23 PM

I added you to my watch list since we're applying to a lot of the same schools. Good luck!

thanks for the advice
Tuesday, October 16 2007 at 11:05 AM

I'll definitely look into those schools. I'm at a bit of a disadvantage having not grown up knowing anything about american school, so all help is welcome. Can't wait to see how this cycle goes as always, best of luck,

Please dont steal
Sunday, October 28 2007 at 03:53 PM

Please don't steal my spot at all these schools! It looks like we're applying to mostly the same ones. Good luck this cycle..

Donnie Darko Rules!
Wednesday, October 31 2007 at 06:20 AM

Good Luck on your apps!

Monday, November 05 2007 at 10:23 AM

I hope you don't get dinged at Cornell. Your numbers look great, i.e. similar to mine. Good luck.

this sucks
Monday, November 05 2007 at 01:29 PM

I'm waiting on the Cornell ding also; seems like we're equally as pessimistic about our numbers, huh?

You're on my watch list too!
Monday, November 05 2007 at 02:57 PM

are you complete at BC? still waiting on that one...

Friday, November 09 2007 at 11:34 AM

I have gotten completion notices from a couple of schools including WashU, Penn, and BC. I am not really keeping track that closely since all my paperwork seems to be in good order.

Monday, November 12 2007 at 01:09 PM

Got my BC complete today too! no status checker though. Every day after Dec 14 is going to be a rush to the mailbox...

you know what sucks?
Thursday, November 15 2007 at 01:09 PM

Big white envelopes in the mail that, unpon closer inspection, have been delivered to the wrong address. Damn you Paul Sneller, where ever you are! I have your mail.... It looks important.

Friday, November 16 2007 at 05:12 AM

Best of luck to you :o)

Friday, November 16 2007 at 09:50 AM

I thoroughly enjoyed your extracurricular information. Our numbers are close, I'm from florida too. Good luck with all your apps!

love the ECs!
Saturday, November 17 2007 at 05:50 AM

and I see you went with the SD fee waiver! I'm hoping I get one. Maybe next year when our mail system catches up... ::sigh::

the cycle is beginning!
Friday, November 23 2007 at 10:09 AM

good luck in the next few weeks! I've got my fingers crossed for all of us in the 166 LSD gang. if you wrote your PS about being the daughter of a french prostitute, I think Cornell definitely lets you in.

Saturday, November 24 2007 at 10:38 AM

Hey there. Go Gators, indeed. Looks like you're going for big cities, eh? Good luck with apps, and I'll be adding you to my watch list for sure.

thanks dude
Wednesday, November 28 2007 at 12:54 PM

appreciate the note, Polly. so the good news is, people who score 166 *do* get into law school. I feel like it's Christmas for all of us!

Thursday, November 29 2007 at 08:30 AM

How did you get a fee waiver from Brooklyn? Thanks!

Friday, November 30 2007 at 01:34 PM

No, I emailed them to be sure after all my other completes had come through. The complete date refers to my email/guess, but I ought to have been complete much earlier.

2 weeks until BC
Sunday, December 02 2007 at 02:52 PM

I know! a bit nervous KNOWING something is coming soon, yikes :)

Re: Fee Waiver
Monday, December 03 2007 at 06:38 AM

Yea I'll check into that thanks. Don't worry you'll get in to do a good school!

Good Luck
Wednesday, December 05 2007 at 08:05 AM

A good LSAT and lots of good choices. Congrats on all the Fee waivers, as I mail these checks and pay my credit card bill, I'm quite jealous.

Friday, December 07 2007 at 05:51 AM

I never received any confirmation from them or any notification of a status tracker. Just checked and I'm complete too.

Yup on Cardozo
Monday, December 10 2007 at 02:00 PM

I got an email confirmation from them about 6 weeks after I applied.

Thursday, December 13 2007 at 01:20 PM

San Diego is beautiful!

Thursday, December 13 2007 at 04:32 PM

Congrats on San Diego! Ron Burgendy will be happy to have you! It is seriously one of the best cities in the country!

Thursday, December 13 2007 at 11:44 PM

congrats on USD acceptance! you will certainly get more. i wish you a great cycle

Saturday, December 15 2007 at 03:19 AM

I can't believe you didn't even apply to UF. Right on! Go Gators.

You Got In!
Saturday, December 15 2007 at 01:41 PM

Hey, I just noticed you got into USD! About time! Congratulations!! P.S. by any chance does USD offer to fly competitive students out for free? I'd love to go to San Diego

Sunday, December 16 2007 at 12:09 PM

on USD and (!!) on breaking into the top 50 users. how nerdy are we? ;)

Monday, December 17 2007 at 07:02 PM

I just laughed out loud reading your extracurricular information. Fantastic!

Congrats on UIUC!
Tuesday, December 18 2007 at 06:24 AM

Way to pick up some sweet scholarship money there too. Don't scoff at that, Chicago is sweeter than Boston anyways. BC seems ridiculously unpredictable this cycle, and I kinda wish I would have applied now just to see if I would have gotten dinged. Don't sweat it, I get the feeling you're in for a lot of good news. Was BC a top choice for you?

Great Darko Reference
Tuesday, December 18 2007 at 03:05 PM

Your writing style reminds me of John Kennedy O'Toole, so I'm sure you have a great PS. Good luck with the rest of your cycle. Illinois is a great school.

Wednesday, December 19 2007 at 05:59 AM

Hey, preciate the congrats! Right back at ya too! Two nice schools, and plenty more to come!!

hey don't worry
Wednesday, December 19 2007 at 01:53 PM

BC's loss, right? :)

Friday, December 21 2007 at 09:38 AM

That's a lot of money at UIUC! Congrats

Friday, December 21 2007 at 02:15 PM

We have similar #s so I'm wishing you the best of luck. I'm sorry to hear about BC, I'm very surprised at that. Anyway, I'm sure the rest of your cycle will turn out better.

still waiting
Friday, December 21 2007 at 06:47 PM

hey number twin - one of these days we will hear back from Cornell, right? Does your status check still show early action complete?

Status Checker
Thursday, January 03 2008 at 07:30 AM

Are there status checkers on lsac or just on the individual schools web pages?

congrats on W&L

Tuesday, January 08 2008 at 02:41 PM

Congrats on your acceptances!

Hey, thanks Polly
Wednesday, January 09 2008 at 04:44 PM

Congrats on your acceptances. Dunno much about UIUC but Lexington is such a gorgeous setting for a school. Are you planning to visit during the ASWs? If you like small towns you'll probably love it there. Anyway, congrats! Here's hoping for some good news from Emory =)

Thanks TM buddy!
Friday, January 11 2008 at 04:12 PM

Congrats on all of your acceptances. Our diligent undergrad still has yet to send Washington and Lee the required dean's cert. I just submitted it to the DSO for a third time today, and the deadline on that app is feb 1 :( Where are you leaning?

Sunday, January 13 2008 at 12:46 PM

Congrats on Cardozo! That's a pretty significant scholarship.

Congrats on Cardozo
Monday, January 14 2008 at 07:58 AM

Perhaps we'll be classmates!

Monday, January 14 2008 at 07:35 PM

I am supremely happy for you, Polly.

Friday, January 25 2008 at 12:21 PM

Thanks -- looks like we have a lot of similar schools! Congrats on Cardozo, I'm sure you'll be hearing good news from Brooklyn soon!

BU Green Card
Friday, January 25 2008 at 02:08 PM

I did not receive a BU complete green post card, the first news I had from BU was a phone call. Which was a nice surprise.

Complete at BU
Saturday, January 26 2008 at 05:13 AM

Hi there, I called them in mid November and they told me I was complete...then about a month later I got that little green postcard. They sent the decison via snail mail - I didn't get a call like alot of others. Since we're numbers twins, I'd say you've got a great shot. Good Luck!!!

Sounds good...
Sunday, January 27 2008 at 07:45 AM

I'm leaning towards Tulane if I can get any money out of them.

Monday, February 04 2008 at 09:24 AM

So I decided to withdraw all my apps, retake in June and apply next cycle. I'm hoping to score around what you got. Any pointers on studying for the games section would be greatly appreciated. Did you use the grid system Pam taught us or did you use the TM slot system? I missed 10 on the games last June, so I figure any improvement in that section warrants retaking.

Wednesday, February 06 2008 at 02:46 PM

pretty cool looking USD scholarship

re BU
Monday, February 11 2008 at 06:09 AM

Learned I was complete by receiving the green complete card in the mail. Hope you get a favorable response from them soon.

Thursday, February 14 2008 at 03:54 PM

Thanks! I hope you have good news from them soon too,

Friday, February 15 2008 at 02:46 PM

On all your acceptances. I see we are in at a couple of the same schools. Have you narrowed your decision down at all?

Saturday, February 23 2008 at 03:34 AM

Congratulations on your acceptances and esp. scholarships, good luck on the last two as well!

Thursday, March 06 2008 at 03:46 PM

congrats on the February retake...curse that blasted June test! I'll probably end up at UF this fall or the next...

Tuesday, March 11 2008 at 11:09 AM

Looks like you will have a lot of good options and congrats on the Cornell deferral. I think I'd frame that on my wall... LOL.

Good Luck
Wednesday, March 12 2008 at 12:20 PM

with the rest of your schools!

Sunday, April 06 2008 at 10:11 PM

Cellardoor ... Cornell?! Yay! (I'd been watching your profile for a while, ... I know you really wanted Corny, so I'm really excited for ya!) Maybe I'll see you there ;)

Thank you!

Hope we get to go to school together ;-)
