2/19 - Decision at Georgetown...eep, here they come...
2/25 - Called a few schools that I haven't been harassing via email (UT *cough* Emory *cough*) and this is what they had to say (very nice admissions people btw):
SMU: latest decisions will be made April 30th
GW: should receive a decision in the next 2 weeks
ND: application "in review" should have decision by the end of next month
...also "in review" at BU
3/2/09 - Waitlisted at George Mason via snail mail, withdrew my application

3/4/09 - Withdrawn from U of H (good luck everyone!)
3/9/09 - Decision at Duke...ding ding DING!

3/14/09 - Waitlisted at Notre Dame, withdrew my application
3/17/09 - Should I email SMU and tell them I am serious about attending because I want to move back home to Dallas? Overkill? Why are they taking so long?
03-25-09 UT Rejection via snail mail...heart broken
4-9-09 Been waitlisted everywhere under the sun...still nothing from SMU. Have sent in my deposit to American.
4-23-09 - My status at SMU still says "file complete" since 01-09, feeling discouraged...but it they accept me, I will go.
4-30-09 - Email from SMU today stating that they are moving the decision deadline from today to May more waiting...
5-5-09 - email from UIUC saying that they are not offering me a seat at this time but extending an invite to stay on the waitlist after the May 29th seat deposit deadline...I am withdrawing
5-11-09 - despite their email on the 30th, SMU has still not made a decision on my application...I am hoping for the best but still frustrated
5-13-09 - Waitlisted at SMU...well hell.
5-14-09 Rescinded my withdrawal from UIUC

Aye, grazie, and yourself! (Incidentally, what prep materials have you been using to study for the LSAT? I'd recommend the powerscore bibles, as far as I'm concerned, they're far superior to anything put out by Kaplan or the like.) (Also, your extracurricular's sound really amazing!)

I'm in the same boat after the October test--and also had to contact a lot of schools to ask them to wait to review applications. Good luck on your test in December!

  • Thursday, November 06 2008 at 10:29 AM

I'm using the PowerScore bibles and taking a lot of timed practice tests. Between now and December 6th I'll be spending a lot of early mornings and late evenings in the office trying to get study time in around work time. Can't wait to be done!

  • Thanks!

Actually I felt pretty good about the test this time. Last time I walked out hoping and praying that on my test the 1st section would be dropped and the 3rd would count... no such luck as it turned out haha. The 2nd time around felt much better. I was a lot less nervous that is for sure. How do you think it went this time?

i don't know, i was surprised. i took the LSAT twice though and I didn't write an addendum. The first time was significantly lower, so maybe they averaged them?

- daico
  • Tuesday, December 23 2008 at 10:05 AM

Of the schools I'm in, my top choice is still UT. If/When Virginia accepts me, they'd be neck and neck--but, honestly, it'll probably end up being UT because a) UT is a fantastic school b) I like living in Texas and want to practice here c) UT is already a significantly cheaper school than any of the others would be. All told, I think I'd be very happy with my decision to go to UT (also, I'd get to legitimately root for the Longhorns.) What about you? You're applying to Berkeley, Georgetown, and Duke, would an acceptance from any of those sway your eye?

- daico
  • Monday, December 29 2008 at 12:08 PM

Hey, no worries, the cycle's a rough time, encouragement helps. Also, honestly, I know absolutely nobody in Austin and it'd be kinda cool if I knew *somebody* else there come the fall.

What is up with Baylor ignoring us both, but giving responses to people who applied a week ago in 3-4 days? I would have animus towards anyone fortunate to live outside of Waco too, but this is ridiculous. Anyways, good luck with your cycle. I'll be stalking your profile to see when Baylor notifies you.

  • Thursday, January 22 2009 at 11:25 AM

I find it hard to believe - and I've seen some head scratching decisions this cycle - that Baylor sent a rejection letter. Your numbers are right in line with their Fall class in 2008. At the same time, you are absolutely correct - Baylor emails their accepted students. I guess the only fortunate thing about this entire situation, if they have in fact mailed a letter, it will arrive relatively quickly since you live in Texas. Good luck with Baylor nevertheless. Congrats on American, too. That is a good school, arguably better than the purported rankings would suggest.

  • Baylor, again and then again.
  • Saturday, January 24 2009 at 12:47 PM

If that bothered Baylor it's no wonder that they are taking forever on my app too - many items on my app don't seem to be congruent with the typical perception of Baylor. At least I know what to expect now.

Hey, good luck with all your apps! I think you'll get some good options with your numbers! My top choice is W&L, but the mid-west/Big 10 schools to which I applied are up there, too. Hope you get one of your tops!

Has your status checker changed by any chance? Mine switched earlier today for the first time since my application went complete, but I'm perplexed with the update. It basically says: Current Status: Held for Further Review Current Status Date: 1/29/2009

Hello numbers twin! I still really have no idea where I want to go. I just sent off LOCI to Colorado, Illinois, and GW. Those are really my top 3 right now and I will attend any of them if I get off the waitlist. Otherwise I don't know really where I will be headed next year...maybe wisconsin, Arizona, Hastings, DePaul, San Diego, Pepperdine??? HaHa I better figure it out fast...where are you thinking of going?

It's not a scholly so much... A "WCL grant" on my financial aid award online. I posted it here because i wanted people to see that grant money from American does exist. I don't think American is the right school for me, but I was happy to see that they're not as stingy as their rep. :)

Waitlisted at Smu last year and trying again this year... How do you like PT?!? Was it a good choice? I only applied for FT... I remember you requesting PT consideration after being waitlisted... Am I correct? Would you recommend someone else going the same? How do people view PT when applying for jobs? Thanks...
