I have found a nice place to live in Grundy! I am really excited about it!
There is an admitted student open house on 5/22 I will be attending to register for classes and get my school e-mail address among other things!
03/24/10
And so, the cycle is finished. I received a letter in the mail today from Richmond. Rejected.
2-15
I am attending an open house in Grundy on Saturday and will begin to search for a place to live.
03/19/10
FINALLY heard from W&M via e-mail. Rejected.
2-14-1
03/11/10
FINALLY heard from WVU via status checker... rejected.
2-13-2
Also, since I've been "decision pending" with William and Mary since 10/21/09, does that mean I am waitlisted?
03/02/10
Finished my FAFSA and received my financial aid package info from ASL. All loans :( But at least I know I can get through law school.
Still waiting to hear from WVU, W&M and Richmond. I guess if I do get positive feedback from them at this point, I am SOL.
02/22/10
Withdrew from MCSOL.
02/19/10
Received my rejection letter from Wake today. Yesterday I sent my seat deposit to Appalachian. I need to draft a withdraw letter to Mississippi College. I am not going to put attending beside Appalachian yet because of the off chance I get into Richmond, W&M or WVU.
2-12-3
02/11/10
Rejected at South Carolina via snail mail (small envelope)
Decision letter pending from Wake via status checker
Also, the date change on the WVU status checker. I'm still in review but the date changed from 1/27/10 to 2/1/10
2-11-4
02/01/10
We had another snowstorm here this weekend.
Did my ritual of checking all the online status checkers still remaining... Dinged at UALR.
1/27/10
In Review at WVU.
1/26/10
Rejected at Brooklyn via snail mail.
2-9-6
1/21/10
Checked the mail today and had a letter from both W&L and Campbell. Dinged at both. Not surprised.
1/19/10
Decision reached at Campbell. Another long shot.
1/18/10
Decision reached at W&L. Fingers crossed but I know it's a long shot.
1/9/10
Received a letter from American. Rejection.
1/7/10
Decision made at American.
Decision has been pending at William and Mary since 10/21/09
Administrative Review at Wake Forest since 10/14/09
The date the application was received changed on Campbell's status checker from 10/12/09 to 1/6/10
1/6/10
Nothing new. I figured so with the holidays. Maybe will hear first of February.
12/28/09
Count thus far:
2-5-10
I doubt I will hear anything from the remaining 10 until next week at the earliest.
12/27/09
Received a small letter in the mail yesterday from Louisville. It was a rejection.
The past week I also received two letters from MCSOL. One from the Dean with a nice handwritten note. Another from the Admission Office noting seat deposit information. Also, received a post card inviting me to Jackson on January 29th.
12/18/09
Having an historic snow storm in my part of Virginia tonight into tomorrow.
Checked all the Online Status Checkers on my pending applications.
Found out I was denied at NYLS but accepted at Mississippi College!
12/10/09
Got a small white envelope from UK in the mail today. It was a rejection.
12/09/09
I have been checking online status checkers at least once a day. Just checked Albany's and it says "application was denied"
12/8/09
Hasn't been anything too exciting to report. Just received a few emails with links to online status checkers.
11/6/09
So much for Election Day here in Virginia.
I received a rejection letter from U of Baltimore on 11/4/09.
Also, I received a link for the status checker for William and Mary. All it says is decision is pending as of 10/21/09. That doesn't make much sense to me.
11/3/09
Today is Election Day in Virginia. Here's to a big Democratic victory!
I have submitted all 17 applications I wanted to submit.
Now the waiting game really goes into full force. Although, I have been accepted to Appalachian, I am still anxious to see what other schools offer me admission.
I received a letter in the mail the other day from Brooklyn to tell me they were missing a Dean's Certification Form. I faxed a copy to the Registrar's Office to be filled out so hopefully that will be completed soon.
I hope if schools are missing any information from me they will contact me promptly so I can handle it.
10/19/09
I called all the remaining 14 schools to which I have applied to check the status of my application.
It was interesting to see how the admissions office received the phone call.
10/16/09
For the past several days, I have received email notifications about application status for the schools listed above. Most contained a user name and password for a online status checker site.
Today, I paid a visit to the Appalachian School of Law as a guest of a visiting attorney. To make a very long story short, I was notified in person that I was accepted to the school.
10/7/09
Received an e-mail from American with a link for the online status checker.
10/4/09
I was able to spend yesterday afternoon sending out about half of my applications. I hope to work on the rest throughout the next week or so. I plan to have all applications submitted by the first of November.
9/23/09
I have finished the first draft of my personal statement. My next step will be to edit it for content and grammar.
I have also started applications on the LSAC website. I will be adding an extra addendum to my application to explain why I miss a semester of undergrad.
So I feel as if I have a list of things to do:
-finish personal statement
-finalize resume
-review applications
-complete addendum
9/20/09
I have been able to finalize the list of schools to which I will apply.
My resume will be sent as an addendum to the application as well as a personal statement.
Also, I will have four LOR's:
1) Professor/Advisor from Criminal Justice Department
2) Professor from Criminal Justice Department
3) Local Congressman
4) Current Boss, Economic Development Director, Local Town Government
9/16/09
The application process has not gone as planned. I hope to have all applications submitted by Halloween. Also, I am finding it hard to decide where exactly I should send applications. Anyone else having the same reservations?
On a positive note, I was awarded a fee waiver through LSAC!
8/9/09
I have my transcripts uploaded to the LSAC website as well as three letters of recommendation. I plan to submit two more letters of recommendation. I am going to use this month to polish my resume and work on my personal statement.
7/27/09
I will be submitting applications beginning the first of September for the 2009-2010 cycle.

Grundy Housing Monday, July 6th, 2009 at 10:47 pm
The school provides a huge list of apartments and homes for rent. I looked at a few and all of them were pretty nice. The rent is a little higher than it was in the town that I lived in during undergrad, but the places are nicer. I really like the area that I will be living in and I felt great about the facilities at the school, and the quality of education that I will receive at ASL. I included my email address so keep in touch if you have anymore questions, or you want to see how the school is once I start going there.

Brooklyn Law Thursday, December 31st, 2009 at 6:08 pm
Hey, quick question, for your brooklyn law app, did you send the dean certification when you sent your initial application? Most schools require you send one if you get accepted. But it seems BLS requires it when you first apply?
Let me know! Thanks! Good Luck

re: Brooklyn Saturday, January 2nd, 2010 at 1:13 pm
I received a half size letter (6 x 4 -ish) explaining their weird admission process and waitlist procedure.
ASL Tuesday, January 19th, 2010 at 8:29 pm
I saw that you visited ASL. I was wondering how you liked the campus and the area. Its about 3 1/2 hrs south of me on US 119, but I haven't been down there yet. Congrats on your acceptance.
Thanks Wednesday, January 20th, 2010 at 1:11 pm
Thanks for stopping by my profile and wishing me good luck.
How come you have not applied to George Mason? As a VA resident you might have a shot there. And I think they accept the February LSAT, if you are up for retaking.

P.S. I feel your pain about the election in VA, and now Massachusetts too! What's going on?
Friday, January 22nd, 2010 at 2:52 pm
Quick question. When you checked your Campbell status checker re "decision rendered", did the info in the seat deposit disappear? Good luck.

WVU Wednesday, January 27th, 2010 at 6:09 pm
Have you heard anything from WVU? I applied back in Sept and file has been complete forever. Today status date changed, but now the status is blank so I don't know what that means. Didn't know if anyone else has had that happen.

Did you get an email from the admissions people indicating that your application had been through a preliminary review and was then going to be given to the committee for an evaluative review? If so, how long after did that dreaded thin envelope arrive? Also, congrats on Appalachian! At least you know you'll be starting school in the fall!!
Monday, February 22nd, 2010 at 7:35 pm
Hey congrats on ASL. I was also accepted and was curious as to ur thoghts about the school... Including ur thoughts on the location. Thanks!

more than likely you'll see me in Grundy. ONU or UDC are the only two that could change my mind, lol. I found out that my next door neighbor's sister is the dean at the pharmacy school in Grundy. Small world huh?

Thanks! I hope I still get a few more acceptances, but atleast I am in somewhere eh? ASL has a good reputation and it is growing even better. I didn't apply because I would like to get out of this side of Virginia. I went to HighSchool near Abingdon and went to UVa-Wise for undergrad. Good luck.

W&M Thursday, March 11th, 2010 at 3:48 pm
I have been decision pending for months now, too. I don't know what it means, but I was assuming that it meant that they haven't made a decision yet.
Richmond Notification Thursday, March 11th, 2010 at 4:47 pm
I was notified by phone. The dean of admissions called me. Best of luck!
Grundy Open House Tuesday, March 30th, 2010 at 1:47 am
How was the open house? I was unable to attend. I have been trying to contact the school about a list of apartments, but so far have been unsuccessful. Are the apartments pricey?
