for the encouragement. Now if only we could get some decisions soon! This wait is killing me!

Re:hi
Thursday, October 20 2005 at 08:00 PM

Thanks for the support. I actually enjoyed molecular bio, it was the lab attendance requirements in all my science courses that shattered my GPA. Three hour blocks were a tough committment with other classes, work, sports and a child.

Thanks for the encouragement!!
Monday, April 25 2005 at 08:00 PM

Thanks so much for the encouragement! I actually do have a lot of WE and ECs, just didn't list them here on LSN. I thought of retaking in Dec. as well, but decided to focus on my applications. I see you are looking to stay in the DC area, best of luck in the process!! -electric

Re: Why no Howard
Thursday, October 20 2005 at 08:00 PM

I do plan on appying to U of Balt as a safety but I do not look at Howard as an option. They do not have a part-time program, they are not ranked, and they are a civil rights oriented law school which I do not think would provide me with the experience I need to go into my desired field. At least U of Balt would be an in-state option for me, has a part-time program and possibility of transfer. Honestly, I doubt Howard would offer money with my GPA and I dont think going there is worth the money - Just my opinion. -MJ

No Howard.
Saturday, September 17 2005 at 08:00 PM

Yeah. i feel you. They are kind of low on my list because I don't see IP as a focus there. This is kind of confusing. Minorities are almost non-existent in IP. And it's not like Howard can't do it. I hear there is a case going on now involving the Matrix movies. Just think of the publicity for the school if the lawyer was a Howard IP alum. Also, not having a part-time program seems like a mistake. They are missing out on some qualified applicants-such as yourself.

Good Luck

As a fellow low GPA applicamt, Good Luck!!

I would kill for your score
Thursday, August 11 2005 at 08:00 PM

WHY on Gods greeen eart h are you retesting? Take it and run. In my opinion you did really good, but maybe you feel tha you can do better, I notice you have 3 kids, so do I with one on the way in March, still I am determined. What did you use to prepare for the LSAT?

RE: I would kill for your score
Thursday, October 20 2005 at 08:00 PM

I am retaking b/c my actual score was far below my diagnostic. I was fasting on test day (religious obligation) and I really think it had an impact. My diagnostics have been consistent and I plan to walk into the December LSAT well-nourished and prepared for another 7 hour test administration. Another reason is that I cannot relocate from the DC area and my GPA puts me out of the running for all of the schools here so the only thing that I can rest on is a strong LSAT and good soft factors.

Thursday, August 11 2005 at 08:00 PM

Due in April that is awesome, me in March. This is so cool that I have someone to chat with who has something in common with me. How about Howard, are u going to apply? Univ. Maryland may actually be a safe school for you too, despite your GPA. I am applying everywhere, my score is beyond embarrassment. But that is okay, I did have anuy prep time or material, this time POWERSCORE baby. I am so psyched about it. Re taking FEB test, wish me luch and stay in touch trulve@msn.com

OPPS!

I meant to say I did not have any" prep materials" and "wish me luck". I hope that I do not practice like I spell. Sorry.

ED/EA advice
Sunday, October 02 2005 at 08:00 PM

Hey, thanks for pointing that out. You had me nervous for a second, but, luckily, I only applied ED to one school and posted it wrong on my profile.

NO WAY!!!!
Thursday, August 11 2005 at 08:00 PM

Girl this is too much! You are a AIDS activist too? We have got to meet. i am applying to Howard. It is on my list. This is too exciting.

hey stranger,
Saturday, September 17 2005 at 08:00 PM

it's been awhile since i last posted to your profile. i just was wondering how things are going on your end. i for one have been so humbled by this whole experience. i don't know whether it's the fact that i had my last final of my undergrad career on thursday or it's my apprehension that it wasn't. i think i did ok in my molecular bio final, but my human genetics was something else. i thought i was fine until i handed in my blue book and the prof said, "only one?" then today, the lsac has finally seen fit to process my gpa and, "wham!" the damn thing is lower than i had anticipated. i just wanted to let you and some others know that i really appreciate all the kind words on my profile and reciprocate in kind. know that i am pulling for you and will continue to watch your progress. (after this semester, i understand that 2.21 better than anyone else.)

Gemini?
Thursday, August 11 2005 at 08:00 PM

This is all too wierd. I am also a gemini, with 3 kids and HIV/AIDS Educated. This is toooo wierd. We just have to meet somewhere in the Law School World. Perhaps as future JD's! I am rooting for you on the December LSAT, I am sure that you will do fine. I would kill for your score now. (LOL)

Good Luck
Monday, August 22 2005 at 08:00 PM

I started out at RPI as a bioinformatics major - there, it is actually a dual major - computes science and molecular bio. Forget about it. I was taking Organic Chem when the primary season for election '04 was heating up. I got involved in the Howard Dean campaign, and forget about it - I had time for OChem or I had time for "saving the country" lol... I chose the political route. That's when I decided on law school instead of medical school, switched all my classes to pre-law stuff and my GPA shot up... So yeah, I feel for ya - It sucks to have majored in TWO extremely difficult subjects and have your GPA compared to the polysci majors. Just not fair.

Temple

Nope. No scholarship from Temple, yet.

KEEP HOPE ALIVE
Monday, August 08 2005 at 08:00 PM

Much sucess to you (You dont' need luck) I bet yer PS was killer with all of the things you listed. Besides how many Blakc Females are there in Bio-tech science? Just trying to pronounce all of that made my head hurt, you've got ALOT that other peole don't have, you'll be fine.

Thank you
Monday, December 19 2005 at 07:00 PM

Thanks for the encouragement. At this point, i'm not feeling too confident. Hope your retake of the LSAT's went well. Best of luck.

Sunday, December 04 2005 at 07:00 PM

Thanks for your note. Best of luck to you in your application process. Any school would be lucky to have you with your awesome personal and professional background. (Molecular biology? I bow to thee.) :)

Yeah, GMU really wanted me from the beginning I guess. I reckon with your LSAT score and... Molecular Bio (wow! that's a tough major to swallow with sports and being a single mother), GMU, especially PT should be a competitive school for you, since it looks like you want to stay local. I'm not sure about PT programs in general. All I know is that they're fairly easier to get into... But I'm sure you already know this. Anyway, best of luck!

omg
Saturday, September 17 2005 at 08:00 PM

I can't believe that MD rejected you! I honestly can't, your major and extras are impressive. I am sure you will get into some great schools. Good Luck with the rest of your apps.

Thanks so much for the congrats. I am a little scared of the weather but hopefully its not as bad as I have heard.

soon,
Saturday, September 17 2005 at 08:00 PM

very soon many of these pendings will be acceptances. i hope that you went to maryland for undergrad. it would serve them right that you get into gulc pt, become some big sh17 atty and never throw an alumni dime maryland's way ever. when you become famous and write your best selling memoir, remember to thank maryland for the rejection in your dedication. ;)

Very Impressed
Wednesday, January 04 2006 at 07:00 PM

I hope the rest of your schools look at the rest of your factors! I am amazed at your life experience and am really rooting for you. One thing I have heard which may be good news for you, is that when you're on the border schools will hold your apps longer. Maybe this means great news for you yet! Either way, best of luck.

Best Wishes
Saturday, December 17 2005 at 07:00 PM

Gemini5165, I wish you the best of luck during this admission cycle. I am truly impressed with your accomplishments. I know what it's like having children and many other responsibilities during undergrad. With that I also understand the considerations you must take in deciding where to apply because of moving your family, grades, etc.... Know that you are not alone. I will be praying for you during the many times I will be praying for myself. Take care and you will beat the odds.

and so it begins
Saturday, September 17 2005 at 08:00 PM

congrats on catholic! wow, that's really awesome. i think catholic is the next closest school to college park geographically. you should be fine regardless now. way to go! i think you should get prepared for the sweep! :) re: uiuc after my acceptances are in i will take a trip and visit my top choices. i'll go to the one that 'feels' best for me. know what i mean? my dream schools has it all: faculty, learning environment, and career opportunities. congrats again.
