Additional info & updates

Case finally got around to hurting my feelings ;-P. Great cycle: 10-4! I'm heading to HUSL (gotta love the acronym) and happy about it.

I hope this information will be helpful to others next cycle. My advice: Apply EARLY, BROADLY (T1-4), and WISELY.

6-26-07
Spoke too soon... offer of admission from Howard. I was really turned off by certain experiences during the application process, and the tuition is steadily 20K/year whereas UDC drops to 7K for 2nd and 3rd year. Still, the recognition and possible job opportunities out of Howard seem greater.

ANY SUGGESTIONS???? 10-0-3

6-4-07
My cycle is basically over... UDC it is! They have been helpful, polite, and generous with that money ;) I have yet to hear from Case, and I will remain on the HUSL waitlist because I deserve a Yes or No answer. I'm excited to be in DC this fall and hope my profile shows that anything is possible!

Last advice: Do you best on the LSAT - but if that's not your cup of tea... Apply early. Tailor your PS and supporting documents to the schools to which you're applying. Use this site and Law School Discussion for reference and support, and keep PUSHing :)

5-8-07
In @ NCCU, making Case the last skeptic of ths cycle (besides Howard). I loved living in the Triangle before but I have to make some calls and hear from the financial aid folks before I make a final decision.

Anyone with some advice about Capital, NCCU, and UDC? Wanna make my decision for me? 9-1-3...

5-1-07
When my friend told me applying was the easy part, I can't say I didn't laugh... or that I don't regret laughing now. My decisions have been the hardest and I don't anticipate them getting any easier as the cycle winds down.

Withdrawal letters sent today for Cooley, JMLS, TSU, Toledo, and Widener. Waiting for Case, NCCU, Touro and the Howard WL decision. Still PUSHing...

ETA: 1 hour later, acceptance letter from Touro Law Center... anybody want to pay the $800 DEPOSIT for me? No takers? Didn't think so... WD letter to be added to the rest! 8-1-3

4-20-07
Hasn't been much to update lately before this week...

Got an email from Howard - they'll be making decisions from the waitlist soon and I replied PROMPTLY that I'm still interested. JMLS decided to step their game up - doubling the scholarship offer - so they've been taken off my withdrawl list for now. Still can't see moving to Chi-town by myself over DC, though.

EDIT: SHOCKER - Accepted at University of Toledo: Reduced Load Program Fall Semester! Tier 2??? Well I'll just be %$#@.... 7-1-3

3-28-07
Currently crafting my withdrawl letter to Cooley, Widener, TSU and JMLS. The OSU rejection is on the way, so I'm accepting it as fact now. Not really expecting much different from Toledo, since my app was incredibly late and I don't want to attend anyway. Living in Huntington, NY isn't going to work either, but I'll wait for the decision letter I paid for.

Upon learning how Case and NCCU feel about me, and Howard lets me in (PLEASE!!!) I'll make a decision. It's been a great cycle, and I'm ready for it to be over with so I can start a great school experience! 6-1-3

3-27-07
Well... kinda figured it was coming considering the less than cordial reception I received on the phone last week, but the Temple rejection does sting a bit :( Also went to decision at OSU within 3 weeks but I'll wait to get the official letter before I change the status.

Nevertheless, I am happy with the choices I have thus far and I'm moving forward. Sent deposits to Capital and UDC and a LOCI to Howard. Withdrawl letters will go out soon, and hopefully I'll be making a decision within the next 3 weeks.

Keep PUSHing everyone! 6-1-2

3-14-07
Just got an email awarding $5500 merit scholarship from UDC - making the tuition even cheaper! Wow, these decisions are getting CRUCIAL! Two weeks to deposit time :-) I'm also thinking of my withdrawls, but have to wait for the info from my schools sent to my state-side addy before I nix them.

3-09-07
Well, all's been quite for weeks with the exception of Temple's admissions viewbook - until today...

IN at UDC! Dated Feb 27... wow. I liked what I saw when I visited in November and the public interest focus is impressive! Decisions, decisions... 6-1-1

2-19-07
Decided to use my last reports on some long shots... we'll see what happens.

2-13-07
Got my first, and expected, ding at Northwestern today. Nicest rejection letter ever - I'm tempted to send them a thank you card LOL. I only applied because I had a fee waiver, and was happy they actually took the full 8 weeks before dinging me. With my first rejection out of the way, I figured - why hide my reach apps? I might be pleasantly surprised!

Edit: Rejection followed by my official acceptance letter from Capital - with $14000 annually! Grace and mercy :-D

2-10-07
Received an email for open house for admitted students from Capital while on vacation, and acceptance letter from TSU upon my return!

Halfway through the cycle and the blessings just keep coming :-) 5-1-0

1-27-07
AWWW YEAH!!! IN at JMLS-Chicago with $4K a year!

Overjoyed at the love...3-1-0

***Note: All scholarship info is per year***

1-25-07
Feels good to update more than once a month - but within a day???

WL at Howard. I'm happy with this and perhaps my last LOR will help push me into the A column. Either way, not an outright ding and I'm grateful and prayerful. 2-1-0

1-24-07
It's the 24th again, so time for some updates...

IN AT WIDENER!!!! I'm elated - I'm going to be a law student in the fall :-) My friend went there and loved it, so I feel great that they gave me a shot and wouldn't mind ending up there if something better doesn't come through.

Contacted almost all schools to check if my apps were complete, and most said they were and in committee right now.

Just received Cooley letter telling me who to contact in the admissions office if I had further questions...so I did and the decision is already in the mail. Will take a while to get across the Pacific but I'm learning to be patient when it's good news!
EDIT: IN AT COOLEY!!! Can you say 2 for 2??? :-D 25% scholarship to boot...

PUSHing right on through and doing the same for all of you this cycle! Be blessed!

12-24-06
Merry Christmas and/or Happy Holidays!!! Majority of my apps went out (including some hidden ones - post those later) and now I get to bite my lovely fingernails for the next few months LOL. Be blessed this cycle and get those acceptances!!!

11-24-06
After going home for a bit and visiting a couple perspective schools, I'm more ready than ever to finish these applications and get started! A tad frustrated with all the last minute to do's, but I'll be alright ;)

10-24-06
Well, bombed the LSAT for the last time...but I'm keeping the faith and applying within an acceptable range. If anyone has any advice about PT I'd love to hear it!

10-06-06
Based on my STELLAR UGPA *obvious sarcasm* here's my preliminary list.... I'm also hoping my non-traditional student (int'l experience) will work in my favor!

Any helpful advice is welcome!

LSAT
Sunday, October 01 2006 at 08:00 PM

Hey! Thanks so much for the advice. I hope you did very well on the LSAT, keep me posted. Just so you know, if you did awesome on your LSAT, your GPA is secondary in many schools! Anyway, a 2.74 is not bad. Best of Luck.

hey there
Sunday, October 01 2006 at 08:00 PM

thanks for the post. All I can say is I hope that REALLY do look at everything. I have a lot of work experience, Internships, volunteer work...the whole thing. Sidenote: If you plan on applying to Temple with a GPA lower than 2.35, you need to first submit a letter explaining your situation and requesting a waiver, or else they'll reject you outright. I just found this out. Good luck!

BTW
Sunday, October 01 2006 at 08:00 PM

Getting a 2nd degree WON'T help you as far as LSDAS goes... They only list your first degree, which drives me crazy. Like I said, I REALLY hope these schools look at everything!

Re: hey there
Tuesday, October 03 2006 at 08:00 PM

Fortunately, my UGPA didn't hit THAT low, but it's nothing to brag on :( Thanks for the advice about 2nd degree - not going to spend the time and effort if it doesn't help the goal. Good luck with your apps :)

Thanks
Thursday, September 21 2006 at 08:00 PM

Thanks for the inquiry. If by soft factors you mean my safeties. I have applied before with obviously the same GPA, but solely my 147 LSAT score. And now I have a 155. I was actually admitted to Cincinnati without submitting my personal Statement. So I am actually using that as my barometer. I have been given a verbal acceptance by the Dean at TSU. So I know I will get in somewhere. I guess the thing for me was that I figure I can get in to 5 of my schools, especially if I apply early. those being TSU, Univ of Houston, SMU, Pepperdine and DePaul. I know I am dreaming and could be reaching, but it is better to have tried and know than not tried at all and live with that doubt. So yea I have faith and we will see what happens. I will prolly apply to some other schools after I get my initial schools out of the way. I wound up trimming my schools though due to where I wanted to study and/or get a degree from, and would I be happy living there. I am originally from Texas and so most of my safety schools are in Texas. I plan on transferring if at all possible to UT or Chicago after my 1st year, if I do not get in this time around. I know I am long winded, but I do hope it answers your question and gives you insight into my line of thinking. Thanks again and I hope none of it sounding like bragging.

good luck
Friday, September 01 2006 at 08:00 PM

I wish you luck with this application season. My only advice is to get your apps out as early as you can...most schools can overlook lower numbers if you apply early enough.

Thanks!
Saturday, June 03 2006 at 08:00 PM

Thanks for the note. I was pretty confident in my chances, but financially it just wasn't working for me this year -- getting married, saving for a honeymoon and law school apps just don't mix! Next year, though...

Keep the Faith
Wednesday, August 31 2005 at 08:00 PM

Just wanted to tell you to reach for the stars this cycle because you never know what can happen. My LSAT is almost exactly the same as yours and I got into a school that I was sure would reject me immediately. But please apply as EARLY as you can. It makes A LOT of difference. Good Luck!

THANKS!
Friday, June 16 2006 at 08:00 PM

thanks, best wishes to you too! we might end up in the same school!

1st off
Saturday, October 21 2006 at 08:00 PM

I want to wish you a merry christmas and great luck on your cycle! I love Valpo. As of right now the main things that I know are: It has a very good rep in Indy, Wisc., Ill., etc. It is less than an hour away from Chicago and Southbend, and it looks like a great/safe are for family life. I plan on visiting in Feb., I can take some pics and post them for all to check out if you are interested!

Thanks!
Monday, August 07 2006 at 08:00 PM

I went to UG in DC... so I would strongly prefer to return to the DC/VA area. I wish you the best of luck this cycle... its only a matter of time before those letters start rolling in!!

thanks!

Hey wassup! Yea I am not sure how all that spam got posted on my wall, nor how to remove it all. I have officially been rejected by University of Texas and Waitlisted by University of Houston. I have been accepted to the Thomas Cooley and Univ of Ark-Little Rock. So if I had to go now I would be going there, Because they are cheap a 3rd tieer school and about to give me some money. I am still waiting on all the schools on the list shown as well as others I just decided to apply to. Overall I applied to some 20 some odd schools. So I will be just waiting. I did apply to Capital and Ohio State. I should get into at least one of those. My intentions are to still transfer once I get done with my first year, but I WILL be attending my highest ranking school. Unless its 3rd tier or lower and then I will go the highest tiered school that is the cheapest overall. I am excited though.

And You?
Thursday, September 21 2006 at 08:00 PM

But I see that you were able to get most of your apps out.How is everything going with that and what were your additional apps?

John Marshall
Sunday, October 01 2006 at 08:00 PM

Best of luck on that one. Consistently wins the regional moot court competitions.

Programs
Thursday, September 21 2006 at 08:00 PM

Yea that transfer option is what I am all about right now. But I am going to just think about working extra, super hard and let my work and prayers take it from there. Yea Ark sent me some info thats why I looked at them and I did like some of what they were saying and I figured if this is the best I can do, I dont HATE the programs or the place(its close to Texas). So I said why not apply.

Getting In?
Thursday, September 21 2006 at 08:00 PM

I am sure you will get into at least 6 of your schools. Howard is funny. My friend who is now at OSU in his 2nd year graduated from OSU with a 3.8 and was rejected. All because his LSAT score was not good. So yea I aint even apply. Cuz after meeting a rep at a law forum I was tunred off. So yea you will do fine and yea cheers to those trying to do their thang and then transfer.

Oh Yea
Thursday, September 21 2006 at 08:00 PM

I just got waitlisted by DePaul. All of the schools are throwing me curveballs... Oh well!

Competitiveness of JM
Sunday, October 01 2006 at 08:00 PM

I haven't heard anything specific regarding John Marshall's level of competitiveness. But aren't all law schools competitive to one degree or another? I mean let's face it: forthe next three years we'll be surrounded by more than a few assholes. It IS law school, after all. At any rate, I'm sure nobody's ripping pages out of books at the library or anything.

Pretty much yes...
Saturday, October 21 2006 at 08:00 PM

the deal was lopsided, and even the wording in the letter was unattractive. I'll pass on UDM's SSP, but I won't lie I was insulted.

GPA
Friday, September 29 2006 at 08:00 PM

I've got a terrible GPA, too. It stinks having a strike against you right from the start that just hangs over the rest of your file like black cloud. Good luck to us!

thanks!
Monday, October 23 2006 at 08:00 PM

thanks! I was a little bummed about Widener because the scholarship is not guaranteed, I would have to apply for it, but oh well... I'm keeping my fingers crossed for you - keep me updated!

Thanks
Saturday, December 10 2005 at 07:00 PM

thanks for the supporting words. You will definitely get into most schools you applied to. I am pulling for you. Best of Luck in the painstakingly long admission cycle. I would love to be of any help to you or anyone else in this process. Just ask :)

congrats
Monday, October 23 2006 at 08:00 PM

2 for 2!!!!
Monday, October 23 2006 at 08:00 PM

Girl you are off to a great start!!! Many more to come... Best of luck and keep me posted!

Thanks for the kind words!
Sunday, December 17 2006 at 07:00 PM

Right now I guess my first choice would be FIU simply because of financial factors. If I'm going to be stuck at a T4 school (and my scores indicate that I will) then I might as well go on the cheap. If I kick butt in my 1L year I will most likely try to transfer to FSU or UF or another T2-ish school, but obviously I can't count on that. What about you? What's your top choice?

Touro
Sunday, December 17 2006 at 07:00 PM

I actually considered applying to Touro as my scores fall within their range. The cost of living scared me off!

Hofstra
Wednesday, November 15 2006 at 07:00 PM

I applied for 2 reasons, really. 1, the application is free, which is always a plus. 2, the KING of Legal Ethics, Monroe Freedman, is a professor there. I audited UNDERSTANDING LEGAL ETHICS at Miami Law, and his book was used. He's out there, but he's a genius. I figured, it's free and I wouldn't mind taking instruction from this guy if I got the chance. Apply, what have you got to lose? $12?

Congrats
Thursday, September 21 2006 at 08:00 PM

I knew you would get in and look at that you have been accepted to 3 of your schools and thats not including your hidden apps. I am so happy for you!!! You see I added all the schools I applied to. I am bored now that the application process is over. I need to start calling folks like you all are doing. to make sure my apps are complete and show interest and all that stuff thats outta my character. But anyways, congrats once again. And I know you will do well where ever you decide to go.

yeeeah!
Monday, October 23 2006 at 08:00 PM

congrats on Cooley and JMLS!!! That's fantastic!!!!! I know the good news will continue to come your way! I hear ya, I'm going to visit both schools and really weigh everything before making a decision.

Congrats
Saturday, December 10 2005 at 07:00 PM

Congrats on your acceptances. I am sure you will keep getting them. Good luck to a soon to be 1L :) Lend some advice please

Thanks
Saturday, December 10 2005 at 07:00 PM

thanks for the advice. Valpo letter said contact them in June. I dont know if that means 'do not contact us before that'. I am sure, however, it wouldn't hurt to write them before that.I hope you get into Howard. Its a great school and one of my top choices.

Lol..soft factors
Thursday, September 21 2006 at 08:00 PM

I aint know what you were talkin bout originally when you asked about my soft factors. I thought you meant like my safety schools. Yea I am really bored so everything I should have been doing I am now doing it cuz I have time on my hands. So yea I do have a nice lengthy resume of stuff and I am hoping that those, my personal statement and my letters of rec can persuade some top schools to take a chance on me. Cuz my gpa is an aberration and not a true indicator of my ability to succeed in law school.

Thanks
Thursday, September 21 2006 at 08:00 PM

Yea i am hoping American comes around. one of my good friends is a 1L there. She is giving me advice and stuff. I will make a trip to visit there at the end of February. I am going to write the letter of intent and I have just added a letter of red to my file, so that will be sent as well. I am in fact going to submit an intent letter to all of my waitlist schools. I am really anxious now though, because with this waitlist to American, I am kind of nervous for SMU. That decision will be here at the end of the week. I hope for nothing less than a waitlist, but since their app was a bit more in depth than American I hope they will take the chance on me. Again this whole process has been nothing but curveballs.

Congratulations
Wednesday, August 16 2006 at 08:00 PM

On your successes so far this cycle. Best of luck to you as a 1L.

Widener
Wednesday, August 16 2006 at 08:00 PM

I loved the Delaware campus, and would really have enjoyed going there. Drexel came through with a much better scholarship offer and my g/f said she would prefer to live in center city Philadelphia. I had Widener send me their financial stats for last year's graduating class, and I was very impressed with the numbers. Lots of successful graduates in many different states.

YES!
Sunday, October 01 2006 at 08:00 PM

Congrats on JM! You're gonna love Chicago and get a great education...who knows, maybe we'll see each other in August indeed!

Congrats!!
Monday, August 07 2006 at 08:00 PM

Just checking back in... and I see you have a number of acceptances. I told you they'd be rolling in sooner than later. I wish you continued success!!

thanks
Friday, September 01 2006 at 08:00 PM

for the love and prayers about Penn. keep your fingers crossed!

I hope so...
Thursday, September 21 2006 at 08:00 PM

I am visiting SMU in two weeks and then I am going to visit American. I am not entirely sure what I need to do to sway their decisions nor make them make it swiftly. I dont want to be undecided till the middle of summer to be accepted. I am strugglin. but yea I wouldnt have went to osu anyway. 4 years of UG was plenty.

Thanks
Wednesday, October 25 2006 at 08:00 PM

I appreciate the comment. Wishing you all the best of luck. Maybe I'll see you at John Marshall lol. Congrats! Any questions feel free to ask.

Howard
Saturday, December 23 2006 at 07:00 PM

Hi and congratulation for your acceptances! I applied to Howard too and I'd like to know more about the law school and prospective employment opportunities as a Howard graduate.. u can help me? thanks!

YAAAAAY Congrats!!!!!!!!
Thursday, September 21 2006 at 08:00 PM

We might be classmates this fall at the rate this is going. You have now been admitted to Capital AND TSU!!! Plus you have already been in at Cooley. We would have had another if I hadnt withdrawn my Marshall App. Wow I know you are like cloud 9. And I am glad you took a chance with Northwestern. Who cares what others think. Besides they would have definitely hated if you would have gotten in. At least you lost by trying... Stay Blessed!!! You are in that zone.

Reveal them
Thursday, September 21 2006 at 08:00 PM

I wanna see the hidden Apps. What reaches did you have?

...
Monday, August 07 2006 at 08:00 PM

I doubt I'll make a clean sweep. Besides, I feel very blessed and don't want to be greedy... !! Congrats (again) on all that you've achieved this cycle, I'll continue to root for you and your number one. Maybe I'll have the courage to also display my hidden apps soon enough. Best wishes!!

We'll see
Wednesday, August 31 2005 at 08:00 PM

I hope you're right, but I'm a little annoyed that Cardozo is taking so long. Either way I'm headed to Fordham, but we'll see.

ASP???
Thursday, September 21 2006 at 08:00 PM

I don't think they did. Maybe I missed because I do not know what ASP is...

Saturday, December 09 2006 at 07:00 PM

Congrats on your acceptances too!!! Do you know where you are going this fall??? Best of Luck!!!

Choices??
Thursday, September 21 2006 at 08:00 PM

So where do you wanna go, like what is your top choice and where would you be going right now if you had to make that decision today?

Thanks!
Thursday, October 19 2006 at 08:00 PM

And congrats to you on JMLS. I've been deferred at Chicago-Kent - if I can weasel in there that's where I'l go. If not, John Marshall it is!

GOOD LUCK!!! You should hear soon since you went complete a little bit after me... I'm going to visit soon..its the best school I've gotten into so far..

Howard WL
Monday, January 30 2006 at 07:00 PM

Yeah, I was on the wait list last year because I didnt get in my app until January. I talked to dean mcgahee on the phone this past september and he specifically told me that if I happened to get on the wait list again that I should be more aggressive. So I would definitely write and email accepting your position on the waitlist if you haven't already. The extra LOR will probably help. Also, a letter from yourself maybe on why you want to go to howard...yada yada...or maybe if there is a specific deficiency in your application...you could give an explanation...he said that he appreciated the written explanation I sent with mine explaining my low gpa. Please email me if you have anymore questions! Good Luck!

Thanks for the info! I am definitely anxious to see what their decision is...

So much for your nice note. I know I must seem like a crazy person...LOL. This whole process has just really taken it's toll on me. Out of curiousity, is Howard one of your top choices? I visited this weekend and didn't really like it. But I know that it would open the door to some great opportunities. I'm just having such a hard time making decisions. Best wishes to you with everything and thanks again.

High/Low
Monday, January 30 2006 at 07:00 PM

As far as the highlights...the small class size, the family atmosphere, the fantastic 2Ls and 3Ls who are really helpful, career services, library, dc location...so many more! Lowlights...maybe expense of living there, hot summers, cold winters...but I really can't think of anything bad about the school itself. It is a great atmosphere...not at all cut-throat, helpful, available professors, helpful administration, etc. Everyone seems to really want you to succeed. Let me know if you have any other questions, feel free to email me!

Thanks.. it's cool

I knew I SHOULD have been getting rejected by those schools, so it was not a huge shock, but the Tulane decision I did not see coming considering how the rest of my process has been going and the Nati decision I did not see coming seeing as I was waitlisted with worse credentials 2 years ago. So yea after the TSU decision, I am going to withdraw from Capital. I am going to Ark-LR barring any significant changes. I anticipate getting 3 more acceptances, a rejection and the rest will be waitlist. I should get into South Texas, LSU and Pepperdine, rejected by Cal and waitlisted by the rest. If I do get in to Pepperdine before April I will send in my deposit and just go back home to Houston and wait on my 3 big schools. Being Houston, SMU and American. If all I have are waitlist and all of my visitations and lobbying do nothing then Ark-LR it is.

How about you... ?
Thursday, September 21 2006 at 08:00 PM

There are like 2 weeks left till most deposit deadlines. Who will be getting your non refundable deposit?

All Ears
Thursday, September 21 2006 at 08:00 PM

I just sent SMU a letter and then found an error in it tonite not too major, but punctuation, a missing word and spelled can not as two words... So yea I have sent them a letter of continued interest, but I need to send American and Houston a letter as well.

You should get in
Thursday, September 21 2006 at 08:00 PM

So yea I meant to say yes I would appreciate the help in the last message... From what I was hearing about Howard cuz I went to DC a few weeks ago to visit American. They do admit a lot of people off of the waitlist. For whatever reason a lot of the DC schools do. So you have a very good shot of being admitted, just keep showing interest consistently

Sorry Clay, but I never applied there. Thanks for the well wishes, and maybe I can have your spot at Howard!

Ave Maria
Friday, January 05 2007 at 07:00 PM

Hey!! Yeah, at the moment I've made a commitment to the Ave. I'm not personally Catholic, but Christian, and feel that the direction of the school is great. Have you decided where you want to attend?!

Good to hear!
Friday, January 05 2007 at 07:00 PM

Howard is a great University around the D.C. Metropolitan area. I've lived here my entire life and it does not get the due credit (on a national level) that it should. All the schools here are EXTREMELY competitive to get into despite people flaming some of the schools for them not being a "premier" school. I was wait listed at Howard but hopefully all goes well with you!

Similar Numbers
Tuesday, February 27 2007 at 07:00 PM

I have extremely similar numbers to you and am applying to some of the schools that you were admitted to (John Marshall and Cooley). Do you have any advice on how to build the best application possible. Thanks.

Thanks
Tuesday, February 27 2007 at 07:00 PM

Thank you for your response and willingness to help with my personal statement. I am actually applying for Fall 2008, so I have plenty of time. I will email you what I have so far. Thanks again.

Withdrawls
Wednesday, August 16 2006 at 08:00 PM

I have been lazy about updating my profile. The only school I have yet to withdraw from is Pepperdine.

thanks

Thanks for the blessing:) We are almost stat. twins... You have given me a little hope. Best of luck to you.

thanks!
Monday, October 23 2006 at 08:00 PM

thanks girl! It is a great feeling - one that I'm sure you will be enjoying shortly... Picking a school is overwhelming, but it's nice to be blessed with so many options. Just pray on it and you'll make the right decision at the right time. I wish you the best.

Congrats to you too!!

Any luck getting ahold of the Dean?? If you go to UDC you will be right next to Howard! We could meet for lunch!

Checkin In
Thursday, September 21 2006 at 08:00 PM

I see you have received a few more decisions and made some for yourself as well. I am happy that you cycle is almost at a close. I think I am still narrowing mine down too, with the hopes .... withthe hopes. But yea its between TSU and Ark-LR. I need $$$$. You will be happy whereever you go and Capital is GREAT!!! If you want to live in the CO then it is a great school. Great alumni and wonderful network. I dont know anythin about the other school and I STILL believe that you will get in off of Howard's waitlist. Well keep me posted. Im actually gettin to move up outta this place end of May. Just waiting on CLEO, my hopefuls and my hopefuls!!!

Sorry about OSU
Wednesday, February 07 2007 at 07:00 PM

Yeah, well I went to decision on Monday and I'm just like you-waiting for the rejection letter. I still haven't heard from most of the other schools either; all I can do is wait. But I'm pretty sure the OSU is a rejection anyway, because other people state that they receive phone calls if they are accepted and I have not received a phone call. So it is pretty easy to infer that's a rejection. At least we're in the same boat. Our LSAT's are the same (at least my high one is anyway), so.... Good luck with Howard. Keep the faith.

I've been following your progress and you are a powerful example of positive thinking and great results.

Thank you again for your helpful insight. If it is alright, I will continue to seek your advice. Best wishes to you.

Hey!!
Thursday, September 21 2006 at 08:00 PM

I just got a phone call from SMU!!! I am in the Part Time Evening program!!! Excited, but now I want to go to UH. I know I am weird. Oh well. At least, I don't have to get stuck in Arkansas. I still am praying to get into Howard, but it sounds like you like DC and want to live there. With that being said you should go to UDC. And it is a lot easier of a move from there to Howard. Well much blessings again. Let's get this over with already!!!

I decided to make the deposit to NYLS...

Re: Howard
Thursday, January 18 2007 at 07:00 PM

I withdrew yesterday, so good luck! I thought I would have been in the running for a scholarship, so I was kind of dissapointed about not being offered anything. If it was on the west coast, and all other variables remained constant, I would have definitely attended. But I needed more of an incentive to stay exactly where I've lived my whole life. In my letter, I expressed that I would be applying again next year, and asked for advice on how I could improve my application to increase my chances at a scholarship. I think I'm going to move out west and apply again next year. I love DC, but I need to try living elsewhere before I commit to the area long-term. Although a little money this time probably could have swayed me, I'm young enough where waiting a year is worth it if it means I could potentially graduate with $30,000 less debt.

email
Saturday, December 23 2006 at 07:00 PM

Yes, I got the same email (from the Dean)... let's what happens..

Congrats! Help!
Sunday, November 26 2006 at 07:00 PM

Check out my page! I am scared! I haven't heard back from 3 schools, and I've been waitlisted at 4, rejected at 3. Any advice, ANYONE, on what I should do?? I am currently requesting information on Master Degree programs, and I really like one at Keele University in England, BUT I have my heart set on Law School! I documented activity pretty well on my page, and hopefully some insight will help me out.

Just checking in...
Thursday, September 21 2006 at 08:00 PM

Congrats on NCCU!!! And now you just wait on Case. But you have some real nice options out there. If case admits you and you get off of Howards waitlist what will you do? I know you also have your second deposit deadlines coming up so are you about to make some more cuts or send them ALL more $$$$???? Well I am going to SMU, unless UHLC admits me off of the waitlist and then I will be at home. They sent me an email stating that they just reduced the waitlist, by either people who had not communicated with them and just by who they felt they would still need to make their class and I was left on, so thats a good sign, but I will send in my letter finally sometime this week and my updated resume as well. I should here something by the time I move back to Texas after OSU graduation!

news about Howard?

no a word so far... it's strange isn't it?? :(

howard/go heels!
Sunday, May 07 2006 at 08:00 PM

hey! thanks! I am still planning on going to Brooklyn or Wake (ok really I want to go to brooklyn, I just need to go visit to double check, but I love NYC and the BLS programs in public interest is amazing, and that is my goal). Howard is a great school, and I was happy to get in there, but I really want to be in NYC and brooklyn offered me more $$$ and would therefore be cheaper. oh, and about NCCU, I know some people who go there and LOVE it, they say everyone is so friendly etc. plus, durham has a cool culture (even a dook hater like me can admit that). so good luck with everything! oh, and go heels...once a tarheel, always a tarheel!

Howard
Thursday, March 29 2007 at 08:00 PM

Sorry that I am so late with a response to your question. I haven't been on this site in over a month. I applied to Howard in late January and all of my things were submitted before February. I was waitlisted initially, but I got a letter from them last month telling me I was accepted. So.....not sure about them. I've decided to enrolll at the University of North Carolina-Chapel Hill. Best of luck to you at UDC. Take care!

UDC
Wednesday, February 28 2007 at 07:00 PM

I also got accepted to both NCCU and UDC and, at first, UDC was my #1 choice. I have since began to worry about their bar passage rates and also the competitive market they are in. Can you shed some light on this for me about your feelings as UDC is still a choice for me. Thanks and best of luck

Congrats on UDC, I'm going to HUSL
Wednesday, April 25 2007 at 08:00 PM

It's looking like you'll be right down the street. As for what I did to show interest; I had received a message from admissions addressed to all those waitlisted candidates. On the day that it said we could call, I called the admissions office. I asked to speak to Dean McGahee, but I wasn't allowed to. I'm not sure what effect that call had, but as it happened, I was admitted to the class of 2010.

Congrats!!
Thursday, March 01 2007 at 07:00 PM

Congrats on your acceptance to Howard!! I'm sure a month ago, you would have responded with a resounding YES! YES! YES!..... customer service goes a loooong way with most people, myself included.... That said, I would definitely choose Howard..esp if you want to base in the DC area which I am assuming based on your profile, previous LS choice etc etc. Also just like the above "1l in 2009" stated, HUSL will open up more oppurtunities for you.....as you know. Good Luck with your decision and congrats again!

Congrats!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Thursday, September 21 2006 at 08:00 PM

Once again, Great job and congratulations!!! You are inspiration for all with your positive attitude and perservering spirit and I am excited for you to have been accepted by your number one choice. I know you are finally, finally happy to be done with the whole thang and now all you need to do is worry about where you are going to live and start getting your mind right to meet great people and enjoy an experience like none other, 1L! Again you are blessed and I will continue nothing but the best for you as you continue to PUSH forward and help others throughout your career. I know you will be a GREAT lawyer!! 10-0-3 is not a bad record at all.

HU vs. UDC
Wednesday, April 25 2007 at 08:00 PM

I would definitely go with HUSL. It will carry you further if your legal career leads you away from the DC area. Even among lower-tiered schools, names still go a long way. Congrats on your acceptance.

Wooo Hooooo!!
Tuesday, April 24 2007 at 08:00 PM

To a fellow HUSL student!! Kudos!! I think there was someone else who had decided on UDC prematurely. And he too, was just admitted to HUSL. Though the administration leaves much to be desired, I truly believe that you made a great choice. I've heard many great things about the school, about student-teacher relations, camraderie, etc, all of which can only serve to enhance one's experience. I currently work with 6-8 HUSL graduates and they are spot on!! Very sharp!! Here's looking forward to meeting you at orientation. :)
