I completely agree with your LSAT comment. Schools place way too much emphasis on the LSAT, and it's preventing talented people, such as yourself, from applying/getting in to the schools they want. I hope you get into Northeastern. Best of luck!
Thanks! I'd say my top choices right now are Notre Dame and Wisconsin, but I'm a longshot at both. I'm really happy with my acceptances right now, and would definitely be happy at South Carolina or Syracuse. I agree with your LSAT comment, best of luck to you!!
Wow..I'll love to go to Northeastern too...I hope they at least take a look at my application with my LSAT score....I hope ur deferral there comes in favourable for you
Hey. UCLA has an amazing Entertainment Law program. If you're curious about schools that might have some classes related to entertainment law I've found that if you look under Intellectual Property courses that this is usually where it's listed. But unfortunately the schools with amazing and well respected Entertainment Law programs happen to be UCLA, USC, Cal, Columbia and NYU. Basically schools in LA or in NY have some kind of emphasis since this is where you would end up working. Let me know if you have any other questions.
no interview...i just got my acceptance in the mail! good luck.
Thanks for the encouragement! It looks like you've got a great lineup of schools you've applied to. I wish you the best of luck in the application process!
Hey, I also got into NYLS AAMPLE today. I know that NYLS and Nova have the same AAMPLE program, and Nova's is supposedly very poor. Last year, only 7/80 people in Nova's AAMPLE actually made it into law school. I've heard it's a major rip-off and haven't heard any positive comments. NYLS could have a higher success rate than Nova even though it's the exact same program--I can't find any data. Congratulations on Hofstra, though! Best of luck in the rest of the cycle!
Hofstra: Deans Scholarship, 20k annually as long as I keep above a 3.2 there. Noticed you got into NYLS. Im visiting NY next week to tour Hofstra and NYLS, whats your top choice?
Really hoping for Pace, Temple, Villanova, or St Johns. I know they're all long shots with my numbers, but maybe I'll get a waitlisted acceptance. If they alll reject me, I may very well be seeing you at NYLS come august.
NY law school is my 1st choice...and no $ from hofstra!
which do u think is better?
thanks for the info! how did they inform you that u had gotten into the AAMPLE? did it specify? good luck
No AAMPLE Admission here. Waiting on my other schools -- just hoping that LSAT's don't control my entire future and the other parts of my application are actually reviewed. Anyway, best of luck to you and please stay in touch as I'd love to hear your future acceptances etc.

Thank you, I appreciate your advice. The decision to put down the deposit was a very hard one, and after speaking to many academic advisors and the Career Services here, they all suggested I put down the deposit to keep my options open, especially condsidering how my numbers are. Obviously, if I do get in somewhere else, I will take that opportunity instead. Good luck with the rest of your apps!
Did you interview with a Pace counselor or with an Alumni? I interviewed with an Alumni in the Philadelphia area.
I did an interview with Linda Lancia last week. Lasted less than 10 minutes. I hope it helped, because Pace is pretty high on my list.
I'm hopign I have the same luck with Hofstra as you did. It is really pissing me off that the schools can't see past my LSAT scores and see I have never earned lower than a B in my collge career and am graduating in 3 years with one semester being a full-time internship with the NYS Senate. Anyway, I calle dall the schools and they all said my file is being reviewed by their comm.'s so hopefully I hear soem good news soon. Congrats and best of luck to you and please stay in touch - any comments will be helpful and appreciated!
and thank you for your kind words as well. My pop went to undergrad at Hofstra and liked it. It is nice to see that every once in a while adcomms look at more than just your LSAT (especially when you do much better on a prep test but not as well on test day). Any areas of the law you are focusing on? I am undecided what to pursue at Flo Co but they have strong health and sports law programs. I wish you all the best as a 1L

Your LSAT comments and comments about self worth are so inspiring. I loved it! I am in a different boat because my LSAT is what is getting me my serious looks and saving my disgusting GPA. Well congrats on the HOFSTRA acceptance and be blessed throughout the rest of your cycle.
about which areas will appeal to me the most. My SPCA work guides me toward animal law, but 2 areas that are rapidly expanding in Fla are elder care and health law (especially with all the baby boomers retiring) and consumer law (fraud and identity theft). I'm sure I will change my mind a few times before deciding. Peace
Way to go on your acceptance to Florida Coastal...and a scholarship too!? That's great--I'm sure you'll see even more acceptances in the weeks to come. Congratulations to a future attorney!
Great Job! We're both applying to Pace & New England. I am thinking about considering Hofstra. What are you thoughts about the school?
all on your acceptances so far. Did you write a separate diversity statement for Fordham?
... on Suffolk and Hofstra. Why Suffolk over Hofstra, I wonder? Massachusetts native?
Being a Bay Stater, I'm of the opinion that Suffolk is HIGHLY overrated. They do place well in the Boston market (top 10% or so) and most smaller cities and towns in Massachusetts and the nearby parts of New England (RI, NH, ME, not so much VT or CT) if you're top-half. The bottom half has a hard time scraping up a job, though, and the bottom quarter is pretty screwed. Hofstra is a better school overall, I think, but it has a narrower range in which to place its graduates.
Hey, noticed your Suffolk/Hofstra dilemma...I know little about Hofstra, but know several very successful attorneys who went to Suffolk...I've heard that the job market for Suffolk grads in Boston and RI is excellent. Also, if you're interested in trial ad, it's probably the best in Boston. Just giving my two cents...
well that's a different story. Suffolk IS very expensive, as is Boston...However, Hofstra should place well in NYC and NJ.
so much...I was sweating that one! Is ALS my top choice? Probably not, but I don't think I'll get into U. Wisconsin or Brooklyn. I think Albany is a very underrated school, and that I'll be very happy there and get a great education. Having said that, if I somehow got into either Rutgers or St. John's I'd have quite a decision to make. I'm hoping for the PT program at those two. As for Suffolk, I think it's a great school, but I'd like to get a bit further away from home (Providence, RI).
UMKC is my top choice, then Washburn. I should hear from KC this week, and I'm pulling my f-ing hair out. Yours?
I didn't write a diversity statement. I only submitted a regular personal statement. Congrats on all your acceptances so far as well.
Is Hofstra a tier 2? I was under the impression that it was tier 3.
Thank you for your kind comment. I'm very happy to see you got in Hofstra. Good luck with everything else!
They all seem like good schools, but remember that each school is going to be a good fit for somebody. Best of luck.
Hofstra deserves a good, hard look.
thanks for the kind words. You look like you're doing pretty well too. I'm leaning towards FIU because I live in S. Florida and its cheap. Congrats on Hofstra.
Thanks for the reassuring comment, congrats on the acceptances.
Thanks...right now im kind of torn between staying in NY or going to Fl. So for now my top choice is Pace
Thanks for the nice comment... yeah, having no GPA is odd. I am not too happy with my lsat score, but I have only gotten one acceptance. Everyday I hope for more choices... Good luck with all yours!
Mlaw, i know you are very keen on Northeastern. I got an email inviting to an admitted students event, but I am being careful just incase its a mistake. Maybe something is coming in the mail..I hope so
Hey! I still haven't decided yet, but I've withdrawn from a bunch of schools and as of now I have it narrowed down to Santa Clara and Rutgers Camden for the ones that have accepted me. Santa Clara has a really good IP law program so it's kind of winning out right now. But if DePaul pulls me off their waitlist I would go there since they have a good IP program AND it's in a big city. But I still have some schools to hear back from. What about you?
Right now it is Rutgers-Newark, but if I don't get in there I am going to look at Suffolk and NESL. Hopefully NYLS will eventually say yes and I might go there. Still waiting on Denver and San Diego, would like to leave the NY area if I had a chance. Good luck on the rest of your apps!!
How did you get the scholarship from Fl. Coastal and how did they let you know abou it. Congrats on your acceptances.
That was a cute message... i hope I get your spot too. :o)
I think that message appears when the person fails to put anything in the title or subject line of the post. It must be the web page creators attempt at humor...
So, you getting close to making a decision? I got an envelope from Hofstra thinking it was a rejection because it was thin. I opened and it was something about replacing the dean..phew
My reasons for liking Suffolk are as follows: 1. Beautiful building in the heart of Boston 2. Very nice people so far, I like the atmosphere 3. Liked the law library 4. Solid bar passage rate in-state and out of state (85% I think) 5. They have a spring break! 6. Personal reason: Near my girlfriend's school in Boston 7. Good reputation, especially in RI where I might plan on working/living 8. Realistic about LSAT - automatically take higher score 9. Have heard very good things from alumni
Yo man, suffolk is lookin like the place for me, after an interveiw i had and seeing the building/friends who go/went there talkin to me, it seems awesome. I am goin part-time too so i can work and make some extra $/Experience. Let me know if there are any q's, I was torn between NESL and Suffolk but i felt suffolk has better prospects, buildings and it was a quality fit.
i applied regular decision, was never deferred or waitlisted, just regular rejection.
word, i didn't know bout the grading scale...but I do know that Suffolk places really well in Boston...thats where i wanna work! Hofstra with $$$ looks good for you, and you have some sweet options, good luck with whatever you choose.
Congrats on your acceptance to Hofstra Law! It is a great program and I hope I get in too. What was your gpa?
No, I want to withdraw from Western New England. I heard that they are on the verge of loosing their ABA accreditation. Thanks for the Help
The motivating factor is, really, a lack of options and Hofstra's being the best option. To be honest, though, I was pleased with my visit to the university, and there are certainly factors that I am thrilled with. Professor Monroe Freedman is THE BEST there is when it comes to legal ethics. I love the proximity to the city. I love the 2 week summer program in Sorrento, Italy that is regularly taught by US Supreme Court Justices. So, basically, it's the best option I currently have, and that's why I'm going. But I like Hofstra. I don't know why everyone hates on them so hard.
Good luck to you too. I'm sure you'll make an educated decision. FYI, the attorney at my firm that everyone turns to for legal writing advice graduated from Suffolk. Best of luck!
Hi! Yes I did go to the open house last Friday. I thought it could have been organized better, but overall I got a good impression of the school. The students and professors I talked to were really nice, and I liked their clinical program. At the end of the day its hard to turn away from the scholarship $$ Good luck with your decision!!
You are having an amazing cycle. Best of luck to you as a 1L.
great, i'll see u there then! ~B
Can you email me w/ more details on the NESL admitted students day?
i received an acceptance package in the mail. the letter was dated 4/3/07.
See you there in the fall.
Wow! I just looked up Suffolk on US News & World Report and THEY ARE TIER 3!!!!!!! Wow! Anyway, I will also be attending Suffolk in the fall and I hope you do as well....i'm currently looking for housing and it looks pretty expensive. Any suggestions?
I actually had applied for a reconsideration and then I called them today and they said a notice would be sent to me informing me of the increase.
I asked on the 20th...this is renewable each year so long as I don't hit the lotto they said.
that's awesome....congrats! I love them too.
Hey, thanks! Pace acceptance came in a large white envelope...you'll know it's an acceptance. Best of luck, I'm sure you'll do well...
